The kickstarter craze isn't over yet, but a decline has been seen, partly brought on by a growing scepticism about the process, which people are completely justified in feeling. I'm not too sure what has brought on the scepticism, it's not like there has been any major flops with games coming from kickstarter. Hell, most of the big ones tend to be great. Banner Saga, FTL, Broken Age, Shadowrun, all kickstarted games, and they are all very good. But i just think people are waking up to the idea of what kickstarter actually is, and how it works. A stark realisation of this is the facebook buyout of Oculus Rift.
This year, many of the 'second wave' of kickstarted games, like Wasteland 2 and Tides of Numenara are coming out, so i'm very excited to see how they turn out. You never know, another big name form the past, with some more big names behind it to develop the game might kickstarter the kickstarters again (pun totally intended).
The PC version, for what it offers, is actually pretty basic. You can't up the graphic fidelity at all, with the only thing that is variable is the resolution. Of course higher resolution is better, but you can't adjust shadows or textures, or w/e, and i'm pretty sure this is 1080p on the PS4 anyway, so that doesn't matter. This is mainly due to the game mostly being pre-rendered hand drawn art.
Overall, the versions are fairly ubiquitious. Unless you really want to use a M+K, i don't think the decision matters that much.
I find it is quite rare for him to completely gush over a game like this. The last time i think it was Brothers: A tale of two sons, and he was right to do so for that game as well.
