wait what? sony makes all the games now? i have never heard the "blu ray means longer games" arguement before. I have however heard the "blu-ray means more content" spin. If you don't agree that more space allows for more content, then, well, you're an idiot. However sony can guarantee all the content they want, but as long as developers don't use the available space, there isn't very much they can do about it..

I certainly remember the talka few years back that games we're nearing the limit the DVD could handle, but the truth as is see it is thus.

1.games are expensive to make 2.the longer and more content-containg you make a game, the more expensive.

3.gamers have shown a very willing attitude towards bying short, rather shallow games.

as long as you (and me) show no doubts in eating up short, near barebone games, companies will in most cases go cheap

and give us exactly what's absolutely needed, but not an inch more.. there are some acclaimed, yet almost laughably short games

on the 360 aswell(my only console this gen thus far btw)

p.s. if Sony's in-house games don't show this promised content explosion on the other hand, then it's time to question what blu-ray is doing this gen.

i know of at least three sperate class action law suits in progress over the 360's problems. one about the damages to discs, which MS has not covered.

is it possible to get some sort of link with the notice as to what was a sticky violation? if not is there a way to get a more specific reason? simply saying "ignored sticky thread" isn't helping when after reading though them all, i still can't understand exactly what i did..

I am currently holding on to my refund, to use on a new venture once i'm sure i'll get one with the new chip in. i am also hoping that, if this is a prevalent problem, that ms sucks it up and refunds ruined games..

One of the most posted aspects of the 360 here on system wars is the allmighty RROD, however i have myself had more of a hassle with something i don't think i've heard that much about here on SW. My 360 has rrod'ed out on me once since i got one last summer. One restart and all was a-okay! however the console has the unusual habit of putting a needle to the disc it's playing.. give it enough time and my 360 will carve a nice, trendy ring about midway on the disc. Although snazzy to look at, these rings have a tendency to sort of make the game, as you say...not work. I know i'm not the only one too, for at least two other xbox owners that i know have had the same problem, only to a less of an extent than me.. is this just an obscure drive malfunction of a few of the consoles? or is it a substantial problem of the system? i ask this because to me at least, this quirk is far more costing and annoying than rrod problems, and it has to date cost me a total of 4 games (totalling a good $250 in local money), of which i havent been able to refund from my local games-store they replaced the first console and gave me a refund after i returned with the second one, but for some reason, no refund for the games themselves. i have presently had two consecutive 360's go 50's style on my games, and as you may guess, it's starting to piss me off..

costing more does not make it worse, but it is a definite minus. a certain playstation console has shown that arguement to be more than viable..

when i got to look past how enormously subject that article is, the flawed execution of it hit center mass..

not only are they overly forgiving with some flaws while being harsh with others, but their whole scoring system is... well.. wrong..

i find it extremely funny that if you actually add up the scores they gave, the 360 ends up lower on the scale than the ps3 due to that lovely D- in hardware quality.. and still it gets a b+ instead of the shiny C it apparently deserves..

all garbage articles aside, i would rate the 360 at a C+ to B- and the PS3 a C- to C or something in that area.. there are more than enough problems with the 360 to kick it off the b+ podium for sure..

to the above poster: EA has been considered crap since BF: vietnam in my book, and the reason why those "teh ps3 is crap" comments arent used as teh proof for your cause by the rest of us is that there is equal amounts of smoke blowing up the 360's ***..

EA will never use a dime more then they absolutely must when developing their games. if that means struggling the ps3 version along at half the framerate, so be it! there is money by the barrow to be made afterall.. the crappy ps3 port will more than likely fetch a nifty profit for them. EA has taken more heat due to rushed, generic game than any other company in recent history (if ever). they give impossible deadlines to their developers, and when a game is to ship, it better damn well ship. I'm sure all companies like the profit, but i don't think any videogame company money as much as good ol' EA... the ram debacle seems to be more of an unwillingness from devs to actially cross-develop games anymore. simple ports are the future, and as long as the ps3 becomes the port platform, it will suffer due it being more complex and harder to work with. " The designers behind the revolutionary Spinter Cell V have revealed the PS3 is incapable of running the AI algorithms." puts 360 splinter cell beta into ps3 dev-kit.. waits.. wth? it doesn't work?! damn youse playstations! hmm.. apparently ps3 can't do the ai after all.. i'm pretty sure it's not unreasonable to assume that the above is about as much effort as they have put into it..

afaik the blame really hasn't been pinned on either consoles. the progress of the ps3 version was behind in development, but as mentioned only by a few weeks. the problem with the dvd9 was mentioned in an interview with dan houser (believe that's his name, no?) but if i remember correctly that was a minor issue and a larger problem was the fact that they must make the game for 360 without use of the harddrive, an issue which, at the time of the interview at least, had not been solved completely. there could be economic reasons behind the delay as well.. gta IV would have an A**load of anticipated titles to contend with come october, so they may have delayed the game to make the most of what it's all about while at the same time giving devs more time to iron out whatever issues they may be having..
