@GTA-Like_Fan the issue with the review is not the misogynistic comment, because it kinda is.... the issue is as you put it its the reviewers own issue and not a balanced review.
The game doesn't reflect men any much better than women but the reviewer only highlights the women aspect of it... which as you put it is the reviewers own spin of it.
It seems perfectly fine to her for men to be mass murdering, crime based psychopathic, empathic socio paths. But heaven forbid a women's nipple is displayed in this game... thats what annoys me... the double standard.
Either balance it with both sides of the coin or not at all. It just alienates it. You could sum the review up as "its okay to show men in a negative or in fact anyway" but not girls.. they should always been shown as perfect angels.
That's why there is anger on this site i believe.
I'm glad you still played the game regardless of the apparent negative, im sure some girls avoided the game because of it, and they now miss out on a great game.
And the male characters in the game are: criminals, murderers, druggies, retards(wade), stereotypes, often stupid or crazy, empathetic, sociopathic, borderline psychopathic (trevor).. should I go on?

Isn't the point of Consoles to bring gaming to the living room for familes at affordable costs... (the latter part only being relative to PC costs cos they still expensive !!)
PC is exactly that "PERSONAL" computer not a family gaming console..it just happens to also have gaming on it too but it has a myriad of other uses. They kinda fill two different requirements for home entertainment & work.
There for they are not trying to compete with the PC for power? So the point is rather obselete no ?
@the26er it did get out of hand and i think in future GameSpot should moderate comments when it starts to get like that. Maybe ask for some mature helpers to do just that when they think trouble maybe brewing xD
@dannyodwyer but isn't a review suppose to talk about the facts not the opinions... opinions are not always facts or even accurate/fair.
I totally agree it IS misogynistic I never denied that. What i didn't get was why thats a negative, when all the negatives against men wasn't mentioned... surely a review should be well balanced about every thing? I think thats the cause of this chaos was the one sidedness.. like its okay to portray men in a bad way but its bad if its women... like some weird double standard (This is only a guess) but i suspect that is the case.
I don't think any one denied misogynistic... if they did they clearly didn't play GTA 5.
I think reviews can be balanced without it just it being about "here is my personal opinion"... surely us players should decide that for ourselves when we play it ?
GameSpot reviews I thought was about telling us the facts from both sides of the coin not just one sided.. It did used to be like that 5 or so years ago from what I recall...it was way more balanced.
I also fear that game developers might be too afraid to do taboo subjects which is common in GTA franchise.. racism (the N word is rife in GTA but that wasn't an issue apparently), stereotyping (also seems okay?), male nudity (thats fine too).
How ever any kind of negative representation of women it was for some reason an exception ?
I personally would be more neutral in my reviews i would take into account both sides of the coin not my personal opinion, given people use GameSpot to chose games that they should buy it is surely the more responsible approach ( i also assume thats what readers look for, not a random's opinion)... food for thought perhaps.
