Well there could be a big ol' hunkin' PCI-E cable that connects to an external plug on your motherboard.

You know all I really have for a budget is a video card and maybe some RAM. The cards I'm looking at are the 7600GT, the 7600GS and the 6800XT. What one is the best. I don't want the 3850 because my CPU will probably bottleneck it and I'll need a whole new power supply. Those three cards are my only options.

open up the computer case and just look at the power supply, it should say on it how much power it is, might have to take it all the way out depending on where the label is

I'm pretty sure it says 500W MAX.

EDIT: Now that I look at the picture of the card, I have an extra 4 pin plug hangin around, so I'm pretty sure I can use it. I just can't get the 8 pin card.

[QUOTE="siskokidd"]My current video card doesn't need a power connector. Are they easy to install for a new card?crazy-player

What's your PSU?

You know it's nothing special. I have no idea what it is. If its possible I could probably crack it open and add a wire. I don't know.

EDIT: I'm not talking about a high end video card, maybe just a 7800 or a 3850.

I don't know much, but I'm gonna say to get a GeForce 8800, 2-3GB of DDR2 RAM, a Dual-Core CPU and Windows XP.

Yeh 3850. But unfortunately I dont think there is any AGP only board that will be able to push this card to its limits because it will be either an Athlon64 or Pentium 4/D and these CPUs will be bottlenecks for this card.Neme2010

How do I know if the CPU will bottleneck the video card?

I'm not smart, but I have a firewire PCI card and it works for video. I say to just get PCI and for your next motherboards make sure it has integrated firewire.

So my options I'm guessing are the 7600GT and the 3850. The Nvidia is cheaper so is it worht the extra $$$$ the go for the ATI???

EDIT: The ATI cards support Direct X 10 and by the time I get Vista, I would probably have gotten a whole new computer. I'd like to get the best deal so I'm thinking of getting the 7600GT and saving money. What do you think? Oh and whats better a 6800XT or the 7600GT?

well my old RAM card is only 533MHz. Won't that slow down the 800MHz one you're talking about? What about the ones I mentioned earlier?^^
