@Cashmoney007 those are the scores of a good game. One point higher, a 9, is a great game.

@secretbadger well said, i've noticed this child-like reaction to games who's scored lower than the child would like. It's a temper tantrum and nothing more. I blame it on the age/maturity level of the videogame audience. I see it happen with every review unless it far exceeds expectations (of the child). It's the same idea of fanboyism, an irrational emotional reaction, instead of a rational interpretation and reaction of the actual content of the review.

@Ovirew @itsHumanity @jakefolk @Piris there's a place for familiarity, but there should be a new nintendo first party game for every new version of existing ip's. Can you imagine how much enjoyment you would have gotten over the years if nintendo gave you a brand new franchise for every new zelda game? They're one of the very best developers. I know I, for one, would have purchased a Wii u by now if there were more new original nintendo first party games

@Sonic4545 @Sevenizz Yeah, it's actually not really true what the developer said. These new consoles are relatively weak compared to where pc is now and where it will be a few years down the road. They will be developing for the lowest common denominator.

@VakarianGirl @DarkSaber2k but if you compare the power of pc's today with the ps4 and xbox, factor in that these consoles have a 7 year lifecycle, you'll realize that very soon developers will be developing for the lowest common denominator. (i'm not a pc owner)

@Pavlara I've noticed this for a while now about websites such as gamespot and gametrailers. They're not journalists , they're really advertising for games companies. Yeah, sometimes they give bad reviews, but those bad reviews come after they've hyped games for months and months. They will never criticize microsoft or sony. Think about it, they want people to buy as many games as possible. It's good for business.

I see where people are coming from in regards to disappointment with Carolyn's reviews. I've also gotten the impression that her reviews are off in a significant way. When I saw that the Last of Us got an 8 I scratched my head. GS has become 'that website' whose reviews I put the least stock i these days. However, to personally attack her is downright wrong and much of the attacks are totally uncalled for and mean. You lose your own credibility when it's obvious your attaching hate to your opinion on the reviewer. Her sexuality has nothing to do with the reviews! It's obvious that prejudgement is alive and well among the gamespot community and for that we should be ashamed.

He's right, but he's not just right for the reason's he's listed. It's time to move on because it's hampering growth in the industry. We've maxed out these consoles, more or less. Yes, we'll see slight improvements in graphics. Maybe a game or two will come along that does something new, game-play wise. But by and large, games have reached a plateau. The only reason we're still stuck in this generation is because of the economy. It makes more sense financially for micro. and sony to hold onto their huge installed bases. I've been saying this for a long time now. People have justified this generation because we don't have the money to spend on new technology. So we're seeing recycled graphics and games. It's pretty simple really.
