i wanna love this setup... i just cant that case kills it for me. if your gonna go to that length with your hardware you gotta throw it in a **** case. like a lian li or one of those obsidians. also.... just how sick would this be with 3 ek vg waterblocks on a double quad rads with a full mb block and a heat killer... do eet meng go liquid

I agree with skinntech and cable management is nice but not perfect, obsidian 900d would be an epic case for that build

Nah, the Antec 1200 is a great case. I'm actually confused as to why you do not like it. Personal preference really.

Also, I decided to up the voltage and overclock a bit higher. Current specs:

Intel Core i7 980X @ 4200MHz
Asus P6X58D Premium @ 28 x 150MHz
6 GB Mushkin Redline @1800 7-8-6-18-1T
Three nVidia GTX 580 in SLI @ 850/2100
50GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD
Three 1TB SpinPoint F3 in RAID-0 - 3TB
1TB SpinPoint F1
LG 32LD450 32" LCD
Samsung 22X SH-S223L DVD-RW
Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card
Antec Twelve Hundred case
Prolimatech Megahalems heatsink
Corsair AX 1200W power supply
Shure SRH840 headphones
Razer Lycosa keyboard
CST LaserTRAC 2545 trackball

New Vantage Score: http://3dmark.com/3dmv/2775527 = P58474

I just dont like how cramped the 1200's are. this rig screams double loop water cooling and that case is just way too small. plus it steel. its not a bad looking case its just you threw together a really epic parts build it needs an epic case. but like you said thats just personal preference.

[QUOTE="oobermensch"]I just noticed that not a lot of you have dedicated sound cards. Is everyone going with integrated audio these days?Urworstnhtmare

Yah. I have noticed that too. I personally don't have one because intergrated sound has gotten alot better recently, and my Gigabyte intergrated is fine for me.

I dont run one. I dont really have room cuz my radiator is soo close to the pci slot i would be using. but i did have a xfi at one time and im really glad i got rid of it. creative drivers suck.

Over the last week I've felt the need to tweak my system. So here's the current build; Intel Core i7 930 processor Corsair Hydro H50 CPU cooler Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 mainboard Corsair 6 GB (3x 2GB) 1600 MHz Dominator DHX memory 2x Nvidia GTX 480's SLI Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium PCIe Fatal1ty Champ Series with Gaming X-Fi I/O drive 1x Hot swappable 240 GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD (OS, and apps) 2x Hot swappable 1 TB Samsung HD103UJ HDD RAID 0 (games) 1x Hot swappable 2 TB Samsung HD204UI HDD (media, storage) Pioneer DVD-RW drive Hitachi LG Blu-ray/DVD-RW combo drive Corsair HX850 power supply Corsair Obsidian 800D case CellAnimation

sick. now all you need is a 480xspc radiator a pump and some full blocks for those cards and proc. the 480's love the juice.

laing dd5 pump feeding a 280black ice gtx rad and a dangerden am3 waterblockoutside of case. lian li v1200 i think... id have to look it up its been a while since ive posted pics of my rig.no its not 4 120mm fans on top. the bottoms are just brackets to help reduce the deadzone of the fans on top. it really helps actually.

lian li v-1200 case

gigabyte 890g ud3h/phenom ii x4 965

gskill 1333/7-7-7-20

corsair 750w

xfx 5870[znfc] nothing fancy

watercooling: laing dd5 pump/dangerden am3 cpu block/black ice gtx 240 radiator/4 yate loon med speed 120 fans.{the pic of the top of the case, only the top two fans are active the other 2 are hollowed and used as spacers to kill the deadzone on the active fans. just fyi for those who would say "lolololo look the newb put all his fans on top!" and yes theres 2 on the bottom side of the rad for a push pull.}

To be honest nothing terribly fancy but i like it. pics were taken with an iphone... sorry. i swear ill punish myself severely with chocolate and soda pop.

tuniq tx-2 or the ocz freeze there pretty much a tie. To be honest though your only gonna see a 3-4c degree drop in temps. You could always lapp your processor and that might get you up to the 6-7c drop range but that all depends on how warped the ihs is. It might not drop your idle temps very much, its your load temps where your gonna see the biggest drop.

Dells use a in house psu. It's a custom psu you cant replace it with a consumer 3rd party psu. you gotta buy one from dell. otherwise youll fry the system.

So, does that mean it will run at 16x speeds if I only use 2 cards together, but if I use 3, it'll be 16x-16x-8x?

And I wasn't challenging you, I just didn't know because I kept running across a whole bunch of different information.

ATLReppa770

Yes that board will run the 16x16x8 or it can run 8x8x8... i have no idea why it would have an option for the latter but it does.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131343take a look here on the specs sheet.
