the problem i have with the onboard graphics is that i can not get them over 800x600 res. I should probably rephrase myself that what i mean my "server" in this case is basically a workstation in which i use as a backup server.... my main server has a Nvidia Quadro fx 2500...

ok, heres the deal.
I have an old server that i was going to use as a backup host for a website, although the onboard video sucks and i am stuck with a spare Pci-x and a Pci-e x4 (slot size, not just bus speed) anyways, i was looking for a decent video card under 150usd. the board is an old Tyan 604 I series (not sure on exact model) and a new mobo is not a option. i do have a lane converter for Pci-x to pci, although i would rather not use it... The power supply is a apevia 500 watt Eps12v. i currently have two Intel Xeon dual core 3.2 GHz procs, and the ff is ATX (12.0x12.5 in). I am not new to hardware, so any options are available...
Edit: The motherboard is a tiger i7322dp s5353.
ok, i think something else is going on here... I have the gts250 running with a 4850 (yes it actually works) with aX2 5000+on an Antec basic 500w. the power draw between the two video cards alone is greater than the gtx260. Running wow, I am getting around 40 fps, and on the 4850 i am getting about 32. when running FEAR (i own FEAR) I am getting ~102fps.
Are you running on a fresh install of Xp home? My best guess is that your D3d registry is somehow corrupt.
i can play play most things well on windows 7. i haven't tried somethings, but it seems to do pretty much everything well

Yeah, but can it run crysis on very high with 200000x AA and AF ? :P
They don't have videocards in there, well good ones I mean, just for displaying basic stuff. Which means, Crysis will beat it :)haven't you heard of OpenGL?
You are F*cking kidding me right? You maxed Crysis out with a 9400GT?[QUOTE="gigatrainer"][QUOTE="xexis"]
OMG I had to log in just to tell you guys Crysis/warhead is not graphic intensive anymore. my specs and I can run it on max settings at 45 fps minimum
Compaq SR169?X
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.80Ghz Socket 939
Windows Xp SP3
1.7 GB DDR2 RAM 800mhz 184-pin
Western Digital 60gb 5400RPM EIDE & Maxtor 20gb 5400RPM EIDE
4x DVD-ROM Drive (don't need more then that for most games.)
Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT 1GB DDR3 VRAM PCIE x16 v1
Seriously GTA IV is more graphic intensive I can't even put a AMD 939 socket Dual core in my PC that can play it. Have you guys read what people say about that game? Some people with Quard cores can't run it! And those same stats I gave you run Age of Conan on Medium settings.
xexis
Nope I can also run NWN2 and Mass Effect on high settings with no lagg. oh and also my power supply didn't meet the requirements of the Video card and it still played those games.
maybe he has some future technology and only misstyped? perhaps an Amd athlon 64 30000+ 18.0 GHz with a ATI 9400 10gb? although i have a feeling that still wouldn't be a good card, it would have to be something like a 9470/9490 right?
[QUOTE="TerroRizing"][QUOTE="slayerpker"]qft that video card is especially overpriced. What about the PSU? A Power Supplies $550 PSU at $100? Newegg has a bargain bin 550 watt PSU with a good review backing it for less than $20.are you talking US dollars? if so, you are paying way too much...

The dollars are in austrailian, they have a lower dollar value then the united states dollar
