Win 7 atw.

Dx11 in itself makes it worth it by itself. Outside of that its more stable than Vista, and has more options then xp. Even if you dont like the gui, i have seen a few windows xp themes that make it look (and act to a point) like windows Xp.

ive never used samba, when running linux I never find any needs for running windows apps, as there are so many linux programs that work just as well (often better), the only thing I really use Windows for is gaming(see sig) and some script writing other then that i use opensuse.

EDIT: upon a quick phone call, the guy im doing this for says that he refuses to even mess with linux, as he is perfectly happy with windows atm.

lulz... idk why he used windows. Although the computer needs to run certain windows programs that cant be wined. also a i put, this is a public computer, and the majority of the users aren't tech savvy enough to understand the difference between a Floppy and a CD. Either way tho, it is an upgrade.... the guy normally would only use a mac...

Hi all,

I'm doing this thread for a friend whose computer randomly crashes. To be precise its windows explorer crashing or at least to a point. The computer has crashed so far while using Adobe Onlocation, Adobe Premire Pro, Audacity, EasyWorship, and general file browsing. The computer will run normally, and then randomly freeze, although you can still switch between windows and open the start menu and look at all the programs, if you double-click, nothing will happen... the same happens if you try to Ctrl+shift+ESC, or Ctrl+Alt+Delete, task manager won't open. Also you cannot close the programs that are open. Because this is not my computer i do not have the exact specs, although from memory and google, this is as close as I can get.

Windows Vista Ultimate x64 (fully updated)

Dual Xeon L5310 1.6GHz Procs

12Gb DDR2 667

350Gb HDD (main)

1Tb(4x1Tb in R1) HDD (Media)

dual 771 Mobo (sorry i dont know make/model)

Nvidia Geforce 8600GT

Thermaltake Eureka Case

2x 120mm fans (on drive array and as exhaust) all other fans are stock

This currently is a shared multimedia computer so a complete wipe of the HDD and Reinstall is complicated due to having to have all the users (easily over 30) back up thier data. According to speedfan/rivatuner the computer never gets over 39*. After the computer freezes a hard reboot is required, although logs only show an unexpected shut down, with no other errors. The computer has sat 50+ hours frozen so we know that the computer wont randomly unfreeze after time.

I spent over an hour on google looking for hours but no one had any that remotely had anything to do with this, and i dont have the time to spend countless hours going through the 14,500,00 for the search term "Vista Crash."

[QUOTE="TehSonofUgly"]

My upload should be around 3Mb/s

JigglyWiggly_

Should actually be 5 mb/s I think. Check your modem at http://192.168.100.1to see the rated speeds.

wait... wouldn't it be 192.168.0.1 ?
