Hi, could you tell me if these specs would be any good for running newer games (i play older games aswell).

  • 1 x 120mm Standard Case Fan
  • AMD Athlon II x2 245 2.9GHz Dual Core CPU
  • Standard Heatsink & CPU Fan
  • 1GB Kingston DDR2 Complimentary Upgrade To
    2GB Kingston PC6400 800MHz DDR2
    Ram
  • 250GB 7200rpm SATA II Hard Drive
  • 24x Dual Layer DVD +/- Rewriter
  • Integrated Graphics
  • Integrated 5.1 Channel Audio
  • Standard 450W PSU

I was going to change the integrated graphics card to my nvidia 9600 gt, but should i change the psu to say 500W? Also I was thinking of leaving the RAM, 2 gig seems to be enough. Thanks, Sean

Same sort of thing happened to me!! Except it was a screw in my case, basically it could cost you a lot of money cos it cos me quite a bit. You probably blown ur psu, plus u have likely damaged ur motherboard. Send it in for repair and hope for the best lol

Hey guys, i think its time i changed my computer and due to it being so outdated im better off buying a new one altogether. I dont need a monitor with it either but at the minute i have no cash. So i've decided i wna sell my ps3 in order to get a bit of money. I have quite a few games, i've got midnight club la, modern warfare 2, fight night round 3, resistance fom, sega rally oh and it comes with a 40 gb hdd. I was wondering, how much do u think it would make if i sold it on ebay? (i need an estimate 2 find out if i will be able 2 buy a new computer). I was thinking of selling this computer too, but i dont think it will make much money at all, and im selling other stuff so hopefully i'll make enough to get something. Ok so basically i've been looking on this site, and this computer has caught my eye http://www.arbico.co.uk/Arbico-Value-Athlon-64-Custom-Built-Computer-p-17351.html I need 2 know what u think of it, it seems 2 good 2 be true, let me know pls. Thanks, Sean

I have an ati 4650 (Slightly weaker card) Pentium 4 @ 3.2Ghz and 1GB of RAM, here are the games that run playably on my machine, that will no doubt run smoother on yours: - Killing Floor - High/ very high, 28-60+ fps (It can go down to around 20-25 when a lot of zombies are on screen, butwhen your blasting, you don't notice) - Call of Duty 4 - Medium/ high (Turn down some cpu dependant settings and you're good) 40-70 fps - Age of Empires 3 - Very high (Low shadows and ballistics) 30-70 fps - Every source game - Med/ high, 30-100 fps - TES IV: Oblivion - High (Things like actor fade turned very far down) 30-60 fps - Fallout 3 - Medium/high 25-60 fps (Poor framerates in most areas, I dont recommend this game with a pentium 4) - STALKER: SoC - Medium/ high, 60+ fps in most areas, populated/ high density buildings can bring it down to 25-40 fps - Mount and Blade - Maximum settings 60+ fps, when in battle: 25-60fps - Red Orchestra - Maximum 30-60 fps - Crysis - Med/ high textures 18-23 fps (A lot of micro stuttering however, playable with motion blur) - GTA: SA - Maximum blows-it-out-of-the-water fps - Star wars: KOTOR - Maximum - 60+ fps (30 in cities) - Freelancer- Maximum 60+ I recommend you stay away from games like Borderlands, Mirrors Edge I seem to get awful framerates with these games, no higher than 20. I hope you look at that list and buy a few, ALL of them are very good games.Ikavnieks

Thank you! This was the reply i was looking for, not the arguments about performance.. I will try a few of those games out if i have the time,i used 2 have aoe 3 and it run smooth like silk with everything maxed. I think because of my cpu and ram, frame rates tend to go all over the place with most games

Call of Duty 4? Age of Empires III is decent looking for an older RTS.
