They wheel that Pondsmith guy out there to talk nonsense in the hope that it will give the project some credence... Why isn't the director out the front answering questions?

I believe the real issue is that they let it go unconfirmed for too long. Then they announced it at E3 while also presenting new content.

Their publicist screwed up here because they could have done some ground work before E3 to lessen this shock to the interested audience.

O personally prefer 3rd person games, but if they go 1st person, I imgine there's some benefit that only they know at this time. However, this is another misstep from their publicists.

The campaigns are terrible. The best FPS must also have a good campaign.

Well yeah, PC is not a platform in the sense that a console is. It's not a narrow platform. It's a pseudo-platform.

No two PCs are alike, and therefore no two PCs handle software in the same way, and therefore no two PC gamers experience the same game.

if we need a single video game to make a social point, then there's a bigger problem at hand.

I think E3 is so unrepresentative of what gaming as an experience is actually like that it's bound to feel anti-climactic.

Only a corporate tool would see that reveal as a way to expose "bigots". They obviously have no care about issues in a real sense, they use them to generate chatter, which you've so willingly perpetuated...

@EnergyAbsorber: Yes - the system isn't all that convincing in its library.
