Just buy it

Castle Crashers that is. I may or may not do a full review of it, but it's definitely worth the fifteen bucks. I've payed much more for some really crap games. The humor is pretty great, and I don't think I've even scratched the surface yet. It is pretty difficult, so having a couple of buddies play with you might be a good idea as well as an awesome time.

I'm not dead yet!

Just writing to say hi. I haven't actually gone anywhere like a lot of other pepole at the Spot. Well, kinda. I stopped getting news here, and I've been doing more posting on another forum, but that's aside the point. Though I will point out I finally got through the easy drums on Rock Band! Yes, that is a highlight. I'll try to post more often.

As a side note, I'm listening to Dethklok, I love it!

Awesome Day

Today was a pretty cool day, I got my PSP! I've been thinking about it ever since the announcement of the Red GoW bundle, and today I scored big. That's right, Wal-Mart broke the street date!

Kratos012

Not only does Kratos look angry as usual, he's the guardian of the battery. Red wouldn't have been my initial color choice, but it's more crimson than red, so that's good by me. Now to get my grubby hands on some other PSP goodness. Next on the hit list- Loco Roco, Patapon, and Ratchet and Clank.

I've seen the entire internets!

Well it at least feels like it. I've done all my e-mail accounts, RSS feeds, and even looked at the forums. Done, finite. I haven't scoured the adult sites, but there's a good reason for that, I'm still at work. Apparently there was a bit of bad weather last night, so our planes never made it to Memphis. Bad, bad, bad. Now we're waiting for the planes to get offloaded, sorted, and sent in to us here... The boss figures another two hours. What a great day to not bring my DS or GBA. At least there's some OT going on...

brawling my eyes out

Just putting this out there, I got SSBB, and a friend code! The friend code is annoying as sin, and I even felt moved to e-mail Nintendo about it. Their response was great, apparently a ton of people have been complaining about it... They could've implemented it better...

At any rate: 5026 4105 6114 is my code. Leave yours in the comments and I'll add you too.

Haven't blogged in a while

Just so nobody thinks I've been abducted by aliens and prbed thoroughly... I've just been pretty busy. First the good news, I finally paid off my student loans. What a huge relief. Two lessons I learned that maybe will be of use to you guys. First, don't feel you must go to college. If you have a skill, or trade, your interested in and even good at; do it. Second, unless you know you will be able to pay back a loan, don't take it. The real purpose of a student loan is not to help you get a good education, but it is a form of enslavement. Employers know you won't be going anywhere if you are indebted to your loan company. Same goes for your personal credit, don't ever spend more than you really have. Sure it's nice to have stuff, but at what cost?? The other good news is I got a new camera, basically upgraded the megapixels, but I'm happy with it. After selling my old camera, I basically paid 50 bucks for it. Awesome.

Now for the bad news. I lost my good friend and Lodge Brother a couple of weeks ago. He had the sugar and had complications when he went in to get more of his foot removed. I also lost my little brother two days ago. He succumbed to a mental disease that was undiagnosed/ unnoticed. He may have been a pain, but he was still my little brother, and I loved him. Of course I'm more concerned for my parents, so if you guys could keep them in your prayers, that would be great.

I hate leaving things on a bad note, so I'll leave you a couple of pictures that make me happy.

It's beginning to look a lot like syphilus...

Not really, but that's how I like to hear that song in my head:P It's definitely winter time here. I'll have to update this with a couple of winter pictrues I took this week when I get home/ around to it. As you might notice, I don't blog too often. Been spending too much time at work or actually playing video games. Damned you Blue Dragon and Rock Band! Why must you be so addictive?!

At any rate it's the week before Christmas so it's the busiest week of the year for us in the shipping industry. It used to run from mid-November to now; but the last couple of years have seen it dwindle down to a week and a half sprint. Being my tenth one here, I'd rather see this than the cluster[expletive deleted] it has been. Oh well, if I don't get around to posting anytime soon, I hope you all enjoy the holidays you celebrate. If you're Jewsih, I'm late, but happy Hanukkah to you as well.

P.S.- Winter solstice is this Saturday! Running around in the snow naked FTW!

Getting your game on, on T.V.

Let me start off by saying I love watching T.V., and I love playing video games. However the two should never cross paths, ever.

Last night I was watching Cold Case, which generally has a decent story-line. Last night however was just horrible. Spoiler warning here if you didn't watch it last night... The episode revolved around a dude who kills kids based on their skills at a fictitious arcade game. Yeah, totally forgot what it was called, but that's aside the point here.

At any rate the two detectives were describing the game to their boss as an RPG, which already sends up red flags about the rest of the episode. They accurately explained RPG is Role Playing Game. That's all they had right. First, how could you play an RPG at an arcade? You could buy the cabinet for what you would pay to play. Second, arcades are all but dead in the U.S. anymore, so a kid missing in 2007 from an arcade is almost silly. The topper of course was when they finally showed the game, it was a Mortal Kombat rip-off. Now aside from the video game aspect the episode was decent.

I know the writers are on strike now, but producers of television should at least research stuff before they film it. It's almost as bad as when kids play video games on a TV show with overly exagerated motions and tongues sticking out. This isn't just Wii infiltration, it's been like this almost forever! Not all gamers are inbreds that drool over pretty colors. Yes, that just described me on rare occasion, but that's only on rare occasion for chrissakes!

My other favorite problem with videogames in T.V. (and movies for that matter) are mis-matched system. How many times must I see a gamecube controller with one actor, a PS1 controller in another actors hand, and an XBox360 in front of the T.V. set. Where are you getting these props?

Has anyone else seen the Saturn commercial on T.V. lately touting how they are up to date and an upcoming company again? Well how up and coming can you be if the kid you show playing video games has an N64 controller in his hand?? I may have been the only person to notice a piece of 10 year old technology that has been superceded by two generatios of consoles, but I think not.

T.V. and movie makers, take note, we do notice. If you're going to at least not have the decency to do a Google search on the internet, then quit making new films. You hire consultants on technical matters, military matters, and other matters. Do yourselves a favor and your consumers a favor, talk to your children about video games. Talk to them often, because I hate the feeling I just lost 20 I.Q. points after watching your production.

swearing like a pirate

I've got my 360, I've got my gamertag (SoulMotor if you want to add me as a friend), and I'm going to eventually get the super swanky TV. What don't I have? A friggin' connection between my computer and 360! This is a really cool feature I managed to get working twice. I don't like that I have to install Zune software for it to work, but whatever. I got it working once, and it was cool. I turn off the computer and 360, no go the next day. I uninstall/ reinstall Zune a couple days later, it works, until I shut down for the day.

What the hell is up with this?? MS certainly can't expect me to keep all my elctronics on all day every day. I certainly don't want to go throught the hassle of reinstalling Zune when I want to use the media connect feature. I'd understand if I was trying to get my 360 to talk with Ubuntu, but it's communicating with XP. The two systems are like brothers, not distant relatives from different countries. The worst part is I called MS after a fruitless internet search, and they were just as useless.... Oh well, I guess I'll be wasting part of my life uninstalling and reinstalling Zune from here on out...

I'm back, more or less

I'm back from my trip to AK, it was pretty good. I'm also more or less back to GameSpot. I've been here, just not too much. Life has been really busy. Aside from planning for my trip, I had an impromptu trip to PA in late August due to my Grandfather passing away. I've been working on getting his estate settled, not a fun job. I've also had a few little odd jobs, like helping my dad paint a house, not too fun. At least I got to go to the Hot Dog Inn. If you're from Cleveland's West Side, you know it really well. Best hot dogs ever.

I picked up a 360 yesterday, kinda cool. It's been a while since I played a game with a controller like that though, kinda funny feeling... I decided to get the Halo edition system, even though I've never played Halo before. It's supposed to have the 65nm chip in it, so hopefully that helps with the ring of death issues, we'll see. You also get the play and charge kit, so the price difference isn't really that much more for the green console. My gamertag is SoulMotor, whatever that really means, I don't know. Now all I need is a new HDTV and I'll be doing excellent. Though I do admit the 360 doesn't look at all shabby on my SDTV.

I'll remember to put up some photos in a later blog, and maybe I'll be visiting the 'spot a little more often; though I feel with all the gaming goodness I just unleashed upon myself, I might have more distractions...
