Some forums on steam are really heavily censored. I remember when HL2 was not playing properly on newer systems and there were a number of complains, somehow they got deleted, although some fixes were eventually posted. But this is hwy forums such as this need to stay open, so points can be raised.

I was away from COD for years before Infinite and yes, I like it too. It's not a great shooter like MW1 and 2 or the older COD WW2 games but it was entertaining, pretty, and with better space combat than that battlefront bollocks. I havent played the latest COD but I dont thnk going back to WW2 and rehashing battles we've all played a million times would be an improvement.
Plus I get my fill with BF1 for early 20th combat.
I havent played the Metro games, so I can't say but every video I have seen does make it seem very atmospheric.
I have a pretty balanced view about TW3. It is well written, well acted and looks gorgeous but the combat is iffy, controls are slow and in all honesty, fighting the creatures isnt that exciting, plus there is way too much back and forth collecting ingredients for various potions to fight said monster. It really does get bogged down and isnt as stream lined or fun as TW2 and beyond story, graphics, acting, games HAVE to be fun. If I wanted great literature I'd read.
Well, zombie thread lol
But basically, at the time of release, Half Life took sp FPS games out of the arena based combat, with the basic shoot this number of enemies before the next section opens up and added environments that were...well, environments, there was a varied use of gameplay, solid run and gun with a little bit of platforming and puzzle solving, along with sections that furthered the story.
I'm trying to think of another FPS in that time that came close to doing that? System Shock maybe? But the shooting was pretty archaic by that point.
However, playing HL now, you think, whats the fuss? Simply because those types of environments, in game story telling and game structure are part and parcel of most FPS games, and during the golden age of single player FPS, we got games literally built around the HL structure. It is to FPS what Resi 4 was to third person shoot em ups or Mario 64 to 3D platformers.
HL2 is obviously better because it is a game that still feels modern and playable now.
the ufc games havent sold as well as fight night but I guess the contract with UFC is worth more than EA shelling out cash to pay individually for each boxers likeness etc
Best...I dunno, lots of great styles in JRPGs and some good animation in games like Alice (mentioned above) but the worst and I mean, singularly the worst example of graphical hair usage is in the WWE 2K games. Hair looks like worms!
Its even worse in motion, so just go and watch any wwe 2k video on youtube...lol it really is horrendous
@theone86: Wow, that is just incredibly ineffective, time and finance consuming. Shouldn't the politicians be working for what is best for the people and not just grinding their personal grudges...wait we're talking about politicians. I retract that question.
