@thehig1: I neevr said max PC settings (whatever they may be) will be equal to PS4. i said his PC, ifi t can't run it smooth at max settings, why not just get it on PS4 with no need for tweaking it and hoping it'll be optimised. But PC would be better for mp.

@uninspiredcup: spot on man!
Seriously, the stuff Japanese companies have started to pull is ridiculous...seriously, try that in any otheri ndustry and it'd be illegal.
I will say however, if a game is released with some true content worthy of paying up yet again, i.e. the dlc for Fallout 3, then why the hell not. I got TW3 GOTY edition and I havent played through the dlc stuff but it looks huge, so I would have had no problem paying for it when it was released separately.
If your PC can't play it at max settings then why not just get it on the PS4, where it would work and look great because of better optimisation without any tweaking? Obviously you would have to pay for mp so that is a downer.
As good as HL2 still looks to this day and as well as it plays, it would be great if remade the whole thing, updated the graphics, compiled each episode with the same game (so it runs as a single story) and then added in a few things missing from the game that we have seen FPS games since, namely: greater speed and verticality. There is a bit of jumping and climbing throughout the game but it feels sluggish compared to a lot of modern shooters and lets it down. Oh and they could open up the levels ab it more as most of them, even the outdoor sections, just feel like a a wide corridor (kinda like MGS 3).
Obviously, this would require quite a bit of work so I don't think Valve would ever do it :(
Something more realistic could be a ocmplete overhaul of the Jax trilogy, much like what they're doing with Crash. Imagine the sequels in particular with the bigger levels in HD with a barnd spanking new grpahics engine (not just upgrading the PS2 era with so called HD lol).
Oh and I want to point out I am not excited about the FF VII remake...they look to have changed the way the game controls, the action and so on. It looks to be closer to FF XIII than the more strategic and turn based VII. Plus they seem to be looking for some sort of episodic release. Eff off with that crap!
I think 2007 is probably the best. But honestly, I think 2017 has a real shot at contending for that title. Nintendo has risen from the ashes and Sony has hit their stride. If the third parties also step up (e.g Nioh), then 2017 looks like it might be one to look out for. Not sure what Microsoft have lined up. If they can manage stellar first party along Scorpio, then that would be great too.
Already out this year/soon to be released: Resi 7, Horizon, Nioh, Nier, Mass Effect s, Zelda and Mario - these are just off the top of my head
Potential big releases: God of War, Detroit, Red Dead Redemption 2, next COD, Battlefield?, potential FF VII? hopefully another big Nintendo game
So yeah, lots going on this year but how many of these games would be a highlight of their genre or the top example? I'm not so sure. Qulaity games mainly, no doubt but truly great, I dunno.
Cant argue with that list. Some exceptional games and franchises got a start and all of them were considered great, many are still considered till now.
Btw gotta agree late 2016/now has been the best time to pick up a PS4.
I made a thread last year about how useless the new gen was, with MHS V possibly the banner game of the gen by that point bieng inferior in terms of gameplay and options than the PS3 version.
Now however, with UC 4 having been realised, strong 3rd party games, a growing library of sports titles and ofc all the very good exclusives, you gotta game on PS4.
The PS4 is great but the PC also has a lot going on for it including a much bigger library than any other system by far and true backwards compatibility with almost any title from the past. The xbone is completely irrelevant though.
PS4 has better exclusives and almost all the AAA games released on PC.
You can't really call what happens backwards compatibility and alot of this modern "large" library is indy trash which fills up the steam store with rubbish.
Yeah, no. PC has far more higher rated exclusives. Outside of Bloodborne and UC4, PC has way more.
OK, what AAA PC exclusives have released in 2017 thus far? What were released in 2016? And what will be released in the next 10 months or so?
With MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord, Dawn of War 3, Unreal Tournament, System Shock 3, and Quake Champions who cares?
how many of those games can you play right now?
I'm not even sure if System Shock 3 can be labelled AAA considering its crowd funded, right?
So, what great AAA exclusive was released on the PC bettert han its PS4 counterpart/competition?
