You're comparing exclusives across gens? So why not bring up PS2 exclusives? It would destroy MS.

I think what you guys are trying to do (would be logical) is compare current exclusives so Titanfall 1 and TLOU shouldn't count.

Current gen exclusives, I guess they're tied. UC4 and Bloodborne are very well received, although neither is my type of game.

Halo 5 and Gears of War 3 have gotten good reviews...not great. The last proper Forza has come across as the best racing game this gen and having played it a bit, I agree.

Other than that, what else is there in the AAA environment?

@soul_starter: Well I think that after the better developers start releasing more of their things there will be much better games. For instance when valve or rockstar or santa monica start releasing or when those games from acclaimed developers such as beyond good and evil 2 come.

Kojima is one of the most revered game developers out there (working for Konami ofc) and MGS V is the worst game in the whole series. The laziest too. I know he had problems at Konami and eventually got fired but that's no excuse to release a half arsed game, which actually has a more complete experience on last gen consoles.

Then you have the latest Gears of War which by overall consensus does not touch the heights of the original trilogy. Halo 5 isn't better than Halo 2 and 3. Uncharted 4 is rated as being better than the other games in the series by a lot of people in the industry but I feel it lags behind them and lags behind TLOU.

Some of the biggest publishers/developers around have already released their best properties and it's taken them 2-3 years of this console cycle to do so and yet not one of those games touches their predecessor.

Maybe the next RDR will buck the trend but that's a year away and FF XV is unlikely to please everyone. It's a tough time for gamers, console and PC.

@soul_starter: I think there are less exclusives cause they have consolidated the studios and the games take longer to develop. Not to mention third parties prefer multiplatform to make up for the budget.

I know games cost more so there are fewer AAA releases but that doesn't excuse A - the quality and B - the lack of AAA games on these consoles in general.

What a sad list.

We've gone from the mighty PS2 and all that it offered to the less mighty (but still with very good exclusives, especially MGS 4) to this.

Un charted has been ok at best since UC2 and the rest...oh man. I don't even know.

I don't think it was just the "COD fan base" but gamers in general. I haven't bought a COD since the excellent MW2 and haven't played one since Black Ops, so I'm certainly not part of the fan base but as a gamer I can see the same old engine, the same old graphical qualities, the same old frame work for game play.

Giving it a futuristic skin doesn't automatically make it "innovative" and unusually for the rather slow gaming market, people are finally catching on. Having said that, it will still sell shit loads and might even be fun.

I think some of the missions are available, but you have to certain rank!

No, that's not the case because you can start the expansion at level 35 (without having to level that much in game).

I'll just have a look later if no one knows. Maybe I need to install something.

PSN and Xbox Live function differently than most PC online games. When you open up a server browser in a game on PC you're looking at a list of community hosted servers. Like... gamers just like us who pay out their own ass to get a server up for people to play on, many of which ask for donations.

On consoles, Sony and MS front the cost. It's just a different model. Sony lost shitloads of money last gen on PSN in competition with Microsoft, and it's precisely why they started charging for it. If nobody paid for those services, Sony and MS wouldn't just start offering it for free. They'd shut the services down completely.

This is not always true. Most Call of Duty games, for instance still use P2P.

Also, players will also purchase servers for BF1 on consoles.

And, you are also wrong in that pretty much all BF1 servers, even for PC, are hosted by DICE(at least for now, until players purchase servers).

So, this is not always true for either accounts. It is game specific, not platform specific.

Exactly.

Big part of me getting a PC this year was I'm not a single guy anymore. I shacked up last year so I got a rig so when I want to game I don't take over the living room TV from everyone. No one complained when I did but someone would always be walking in front of TV or some kind of distraction. Glad I did after all since PC has a ton of games I'm into that consoles don't. Mainly simulations, isometric RPGs turn based and single player games.

I can understand that but isometric RPGs? Tonnes of indie titles, especially on PS4 are exactly that.

I didn't get it at launch. If I remember correctly I probably got it about a year after release and boy was it the highlight of this whole damn industry.

I still remember playing SD: Shut Your Mouth for the first time and how it looked (at the time) so superior to SD2. The moves and roster set was some of the best at that point.

Then I remember playing FFX and being blown away by the beauty of it. Yeah, it never aged well but eff it, at the time I was like daaaayum!

Oh and who can forget RE4 and GOW2 at the tail end of that console cycle. Both games looked stunning and RE4 holds up well to this day. Let's not forget just how revolutionary RE4 and it's camera/shooting mechanics were at the time and have inspired just about every 3rd person shooter since.

My fondest memory of the PS2 age is that the system just had SO MANY AAA titles, released one after the other and imo the 2 greatest game series' that have become synonymous with the Sony brand reached their peak on that console. Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy.
