dont all developers, across all consoles do that? Hardly unique to Sony.

Having said that, the PS4 does currently have the best looking console game and possibly the best looking and most stable graphical game out there: Uncharted 4. I'm not a fan of the game itself or the current gen of consoles but boy does it run smooth.

LOL! Ah no.

I don't see how this is up for debate. The originally Xbox was regarded as more powerful than the PS2 but the same was never said or thought of the 360. Very few games last gen looked as good as the first party titles for PS3, in particular TLOU and GOW 3. It's a pretty much known fact in the industry. That's not to say the 360 was a bad console but it had its limitations.

huh? PS3 had superior hardware and consistently produced the better looking games. The 360 did have a solid line up of games though and GOW 2, Halo 3 and Forza were a lot of fun.

Has Sony ever been a developer? Have any games been developed inside Sony studios?

I'm pretty sure the majority of so called 1st party games are developed my studios that are OWNED by Sony. In fact, the same can be said for many Nintendo games too. Sony, Nintendo and MS are hardware developers, where they outsource software development to other tech houses. Sega was one of the few that actually developed in house. I think GOW 4 has been developed by a studio specifically created by MS.

So, now, looking at games made by Sony owned studios...theres a heck of a lot of great ones, heck, in the PS2 era they actually made better platformers than Nintendo. Now that's saying something.

One of the greatest games ever but I'm not sure how the controls will hold up today.

considering I havent played most of these and the same goes for most members on here, what can one say?

If UC4 and Witcher 3 were both released this year, then I'd say those.

My favourite consoles in order, from most to least:

PS2

PS1

SNES

PS3

N64

PS4

Xbox 360

Xbox

Gamecube

Haven't bought the others.

So yeah, current gen is pretty low down for me atm.

@Jag85: Not really, as they often move in a jittery fashion and the animation is stunted. 3D games look worse, definitely but the 2D games are too...slowed in their movement is the best way to put it.

I feel latter day PS2 games have aged the best, i.e. RE4, GOW2 and so on.

Pricing is definitely too expensive these days but I wouldn't mind if we had an increased number of exclusives and AAA titles in general. Not to mention the biggest issue of all: games cost between 40-60 pounds on average. That must be a sick joke. I can download PC games for almost half that.

Your issue isn't substance (although yes Star Trek is fluff vs the hard science it used to be during the TNG days), it's more so this medium is stale. Reality is don't stick to just triple A games or big block buster films. Hollywood still has plenty of great lower tier productions built on the backs of great writing and acting. Gaming has an indie space and returning middle market which goes back to the fundamentals of what these medium is good at: Fucking being a game.

As much as I bitch, we've never had access to more games in our lives, so any inability to find a game that satisfies your taste is on you.

That's not an excuse for the higher end productions to be so creatively dull, they should get better, and any entertainment would benefit from its high end being much better, but there is no absence of quality out here.

having access to all these games is not what really matters, that's the same as having a movie collection and having seen every movie several times. That's no excuse for making bad movies or making bad games. It's the decease of this decade, there's no intellectual pride anymore.

100% man! Don't let the apologists on this thread keep you down. I assume lots of gaming companies have their shills on various forums to derail genuine arguments.

There are as many remasters this gen as original AAA titles. Not only that, a number of these so called remasters are essentially re-releases of games we saw a couple years back on the PS3/XB360. Thats a remaster of a 2 year old game. Fuk me thats scraping the friggin barrel.

In all honesty, since I got bored of Fallout 4 my PS4 lay barren till my recent PES/FIFA experience but that only lasted a few days. We're almost 3 years into this console cycle and I can't think of a single killer or original exclusive for Sony or MS.

Console gaming may well be dead and when a console diehard like me is looking to but the witcher 3 and probably the next BF or COD on my PC, you know shit has hit the fan.

thanks lol but it's even worse with the remasters than you think, they have the nerve calling 10 year old games remasters and having worse graphics than the pc version (bioshock)

yeah but wasn't the 3rd entry released like 2 years ago? Maybe slightly longer and they supposedly "remastered" it lol

And don't even get me started on the Uncharted remasters. The second 2 games, which had mp modes, aren't as good on the PS4 because you have to pay extra to pay online. How the hell is that an improvement?

This has gone too far.
