based on the fact that the ps2 had a 6 year life cycle before the ps3 came out they should announce it next e3 seeing as how we're only in the 5th year of its life cycle.

On the other hand they did promise a ten year life cycle for the psp and if many psp gamers start jumping ship before then or complaining to Sony then they may cut it down. Small tangent I'm not sure a ten year life cycle is best for a handheld system. Especially when you have competition like ninetendo releasing brand new hardware upgrades every 5 years that are BC.

But yeah my guess would be earliest is next E3. Latest another 5 years lol.

Hey kids when are you going to stop speculation of the future announcement? You all sound like kids without a PSP and the money to get one (I'm refering to the ones asking for a PSP2). The PSP is more than ok, it only needs more and better games plus advertisement. If you hear wat Sony said when talking about the PSP at E3 they said the PSP will get better and continue to get support for years to come. This is a portable and it doesn't matter if the Ipad or a cell phone has the abilitie to produce better graphics. The ones right know are great, take a look at Metal Gear Peace Walker great graphics, music story, and a great experience unmatched on the Ipad or or cell phones.

Sony have been upgrading the PSP adding, microphone, better loadings, lighter weigh, screens with better colors etc. As Iwata said today, technology is only a tool that needs to be combine with great ideas and design to make a game great , fun and memorable. You can have the latest GPU or CPU but if the designer doesn't use great ideas, great designs and creativity it goes to waste.

5. 210 five years later: Yes! this Metal Gear bundle is awsome but i should wait to see if they announces a price drop this E3. After all of this if Sony really announces a price drop many will go crazy and go get one. Then months later: s_i_ why Sony is realising a PSP 2 so soon?

I predict no PSP2 announcement. Hopefully something on Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Resident Evil Portable.

And price cuts: PSP for $129, PSP Go for $169, and a God of War: Ghost of Sparta PSP bundle this fall for $159.
