He was a bad reviewer, end of story. Aweful. Most of the people posting here woudln't have even known his name if not for the current news. He constantly was overly cynical and caused advertisers to drop adds... how is any business going to stay afloat like this? He deserved it, the only problem here should be why it took so long to happen.

I've been reading and posting on Gamespot for years now, and Gerstman being fired further solidifies my decision not to visit the site anymore. There are a handful of reviewers I still enjoy reading here at Gamespot, but I'm worried they'll be strong-armed under PR pressure soon enough.
Our own preferences as to our (dis)like of Jeff Gerstman will prevent an intelligent discussion, I'm sure. However, how can you debate him being overly cynical when his review for the very game that got him fired deviates slightly from the average score on the gaming review aggregates? By your logic, everyone who reviewed the game with a 60 should be fired -- Gerstman's stance on the game falls in line with other reviewers.
I'm not going to waste $80 CAD on a game that can be completed in only 10 hours. I rarely break this tenet of mine, unless the game is older and goes for cheap. If I absolutely cannot wait to play a SP-only game, I rent.

Attempts at recognition usually bring us out in droves. :/
