For those that didn't see my comment below- It was never Free, only free to the consumer. Bungie gave updates for free to grow the fanbase nothing more. I'm sure it cost them money for additional work. But their hope was that over time they could sell more games in total to cover the costs. If that actually works or not , who knows. This is the trend with all the titles that have good fanbases. What this has made me do, is be more picky in buying games in general. I might buy 3 games a year at launch vs, 6 or 7.i see it like this, How many multiplayer FPS games do I actually need and want, they all have the same basic concept, shoot the other team. I like it. But I don't need/want 10 games that are this. 2 or 3 is enough for me. Same goes for racing games.

It also seems to me that nobody at the company actually uses the products they sell. there are several annoyances with MS office and Win 8, that are small but aggravating that anybody that uses the products would notice.
