I find it worth mentioning the literal mountains of crap that are out AND STILL coming out for the PS2. The only reason we don't see such a repeat on the PS3 and 360 is that it's probally too pricey to develope worthless, low return games for.

The Wii though, still easy to make low end games for cheap. The trick lies in actually taking the time to make a good looking game.

You really need to put Fatal Frame series up there. That would get my vote.

Personally I'd like to see a sequel/episode 4 version of Republic Commando. That game had an awesome "boots on the ground" feel to it in a Star Wars setting.

I'm almost a little sick of all the Star Wars games that heavily involve jedi. It can be fun, but not when every game is like that. Thats part of what made Shadows of the Empire and the Rogue Squadron games stand out some.

For either it would be lackluster gameplay or story. When something is cliche it just isn't as replayable.

I think the best definition for generic is a game that has very little replay value. It can be good or bad, but you play it once and have no inclination to play it again. It lacks memorable moments, ones that you want to experience again.

Make sure to play this game when you go.

http://gundam-kizuna.jp

Its pretty much a moble suit cockpit mockup controller with ranked, unlockable online play.

Runs at 500 yen a play so it's not horrible, and its in most of the cities I've been in so far.

Currently addicted to it now, kinda bummed that I'll be back in the States in a few days.

Well I think it sort of depends.  I wouldn't say our playing experiences were too different but we got very different endings.  Aside from the 'main' ending, which was somewhat expected, the events that occured afterwards change the game a lot.

I did. Hmm, didn't have it pegged as a game changer, just thought it would come in handy.

Heh, and I was only midly a jerk.  I mean, Kyle pretty much IS one anyway, but I guess I went with the responces I felt were most appropriate.  And I got a few game overs, mainly from exploring the wrong conversations.  Which was kind of a nice touch I thought.

I guess that's what you did wrong. I'm going to play the game again, when I have the time. This game is filled with so much foreshadowing, that the second time will be better. Forshadowing is common in many novels such as: Flowers for Algernon written by Daniel Keyes and Of Mice and Men written by Steinbeck. The developer, Cing, did this because they were aiming to make HD like a novel.

Sorry, gotta call foul on that one a little bit.  I do actually read much more often than I don't and I'm pretty familiar with what are considered the 'staples' of literature.  Even if my spelling dosn't quite confirm that.

As a writing tool, I have mixed feelings about forshadowing.  Mostly because I think it's poorly implimented by many authors, in such a way that your all but blatently told how something is going to end, and then the events that lead up to it.  The best use of it is to forshadow an event and then put a twist in instead, something very differnt than what the reader expects.  And a truly great writer can even make is so that there are clues to the twist beforehand, they just never seem to come out until another read through.

On the subjects of game overs though, you can push some of the characters into making you have one, and they're different enough to be interesting as well.

From reading over on the HD forums, there are supposed to be different endings.  The one I got seemed to fit the game best, but it wasnt exacly happy.

Great game though, most of the negative reviews seem to come from people who hate to read more than a few text lines.

What ending did you get. Use the spoiler tags. I got:
Mila and Kyle leave the hotel together and Jenny sees her father, Dunning, at the Dusk on New Years Day.
Wow. Quite a difference.
In mine, Kyle leaves without saying bye to Mila, heads out alone.  And Jenny never makes any appearence, presumed to be dead.
