[QUOTE="too_much_eslim"]

I know Sony and Nintendo are different, but just think about it. PSP is doing bad not because of quality games, but because the games are console games on a handheld. The wii is basically getting ds games on a console. That is not really a bad thing because it is good to play quality games, but people might have the same feelings towards the wii as they do towards the psp. People might start to ask why are they paying $50 for a game the can get on their ds for $30. Wii initial success is great, but it really lack the games that make you want to go out and buy one. The games that people buy a nintendo console for are the same. Nintendo has, yet to release a killer app game that is a new ip.(SSB doesn't count because it uses characters that are already popular)

Nintendo will be around for a long time, but I really want them to stop relying on Zelda, Metroid, and Mario. There is only one new IP gaining hype for the wii, and after seeing the trailer for it, I wouldn't want to play it if it has voice acting like that. Only nintendo fanboys seem to think that there is nothing wrong with the games coming out for it. I want a game that appeal to me base on its cool factor and being a new ip. Microsoft learned this, Sony knows this, and Nintendo seems like they are trying to reach out, but not trying hard enough.

[QUOTE="DA_B0MB"][QUOTE="Thug_Pikachu"]2 things Crackdown needed for me to buy it -mission based Single player like GTA -Customizible charactersThug_Pikachu
Do yourself a favor and rent it then. I highly recomend. Crackdown does have single player missions. Are you asking for a better story you mean?

no I meant straight up missions like you find in GTA, that tell you to do something and you do it . Crackdown seems like you just look for 21 bosses and you kill them ,

thats not as fun as Stealing a boat, driving to the middle of an ocean , shooting down a plane with a rocket launcher , taking the documents it drops , getting into a fast car and trying to outrun the FBI to your hideout . thats the 2nd to last mission in GTA3

Mercenaries was just a series of boss takedowns but it was still fun.  Plus you could play as Indy.

[QUOTE="Kaarstein"]My reason to think PS3 is expensive is this: I live in Norway (Its in Europe btw), and we only get the 60GB version. It will cost 5 999 kroners. That probable dosent mean anything to you but if I compare it with Wii and 360 it looks like this: PS3 with no games - 5 999 kroner Wii with Wii Sport - 2 595 kroner (bought it for 1 995 at launch sale at elkjøp) X-box 360 with Gears - 3 795 kroners Wii + 360 + 2 games = 6 390 kroner Now you see why I think PS3 is very expencive. + I dont have a HD-TV and I havent seen any store selling Blu-Ray or HD-DVD movies yet. But when that day comes and I have a HD-TV and I need to upgtrade from DVD, then stand-alone players will be much MUCH more cheaper. Edit: prices are from Elkjøp www.elkjop.no Norwegian siteKaarstein

It's a little sad (most likly for Americans) that you have to point out where Norway is.

Actually that was just a joke :P

Damn, you got me before I could edit out my horrible spelling.

I think Pinky and the Brain said it best when they pointed out that most Americans have no almost no idea where any country is except Mexico and Canada.

Honestly, if I were only choosing one (at the moment), and I didn't play games all that much, I'd probably go with the 360. I'd be hesitant about the Wii, because despite its cheaper price, Nintendo's recent history leaves a little to be desired when it comes to games (Gamecube). And since the PS3 is going to take a while to ramp up (just like the 360 did at first), right now at this present time I'd go for the 360.

Of course, I'm using the definition of "casual" as a person who doesn't play games a lot, and aren't hardcore. I say this because a while back someone stated the definition of "casual" as a person who buys systems to look cool. I don't know where that definition comes from.r11011b

Ahh, but a real casual wouldn't know about GC's recent history.  They would just see the Wii as a standalone in a way.

Bleh. Some of this Wii bashing is pretty stupid.  360 obviously has good games and is goin well but what about the friggin PS3?

Wii and PS3 both just launched and neither has any real good games (but it should be pretty appearent which has more at least semi-quality games at the moment).  360 had pretty much nada for launch too, but oddly enough, everyone forgets its been out a year for comparisons to the other systems.

And yes, there are hugly hyped, big name, A+ assured games coming to 360 and PS3.  And by most SW standards, Wii only has 3.  But we're going to see a lot of suprise hits I think, more so than on the other systems.

One last thing concerning the Elebits and Oblivion thing.  I had Morrowind years ago because a friend of mine got me really excited about it.  I found it boring and unable to hold my interest no matter how hard I try.  Oblivion, from what I've played, is no different.  I realize these are good games, and I can appriciate many things about them, but I can't stand them.  Elebits is simple and somewhat childish...but really fun.  I keep running into the "just one more level" problem that good games seem to inspire.  Many Wii games are the same way right now.  They arn't grapically impressive, or critically acclaimed, but they're fun.  So yeah, I'm enjoying my mini-games and third party games.

SotC didn't have great graphics, but the open world with no loading, each of the Colossi up close, no frame rate drops and the whole feel to the game were awsome.  Plus the animations were all top notch.

RE4 had awsome graphics and gameplay.

FEAR, natch.

Riddick too, it seemed a lot like a sleeper hit to me though.
