the fsb on my motherboard is 800mhz i think. would that greatly restrict the performance of a e8400?

haha ye i thought it would. i only play games at 1024x768 resolution. and i have had crysis running on mostly medium with some high settings pretty well. the only problem i have with getting a new processor is i will probably need a new motherboard, and therefore a new case :( and i have very little money.

i have a hd4850, and im wondering what kind of performance people have been getting out of it. specifically in crysis and world in conflict, and other recent games.

i have a pentium 4 3.4ghz processor, so i am wondering what my card will do with a better processor. i am gonna upgrade, probably to a e8400 when i have the money.

thanks

i got an asus 4850 and i have had no problems with it so far. the temperature can get a bit high, but the fan is good and keeps it at around 50. i have had no crashes with it, and the fan works fine. the asus smartdoctor software that comes with it is pretty good too, lets you overclock, and adjust fan speeds and stuff.

ok then. dont worry about it. i have installed the psu now, but its not inside the case, its sitting on top with the cables going into the case. seems to be ok so far.

thats what i was thinking. i may have the psu outside the case for now, and get a new case when i can. do you think the motherboard will be the wrong size?

its not a bad pc tho, and i cant afford a new one yet. and the old psu is a standard atx size, it just has an oddly placed power cable hole. im slowly buying new parts until i finally have none of my dell pc left, i just know i cant save up and buy it all at once. i think i will cut a hole for now. i was just wordering if anyone else had had this problem before.
