@Ballroompirate: I was surprised to come here and see so much hate for this game... and that game... and so on. This forum seems more like an anti-game board more than anything else I've seen.
All I know is I had a load of fun playing the Beta.
Hmm... there's a lot. As of right now I have both Fire Emblem Fates versions and Uncharted 4 Collector's Edition pre-ordered. I'm also excited for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Horizon Zero Dawn, Final Fantasy XV and Scalebound, Persona 5 and Dragon Quest XI.
I prefer to think of myself as casual. I own all systems and have a lot of games, play many hours a day and spend a lot of free time browsing game sites, but I'm not addicted. Really... I'M NOT! >.<
Everyone has different standards, so how do we, or why should we, set a universal one?
Well obvious everyone has a standard I'm talking about people who have low expectation for a game than believe the game is going turn out good once they find out minor things are added.
Some people, most people, like more of the same as opposed to something entirely different when it comes to a well-liked and familiar series. That doesn't mean they want the exact same game again and again, but something similar to what they know, but with new additions, new stories etc.
Somebody did a survey or analysis and discovered that while most people openly complain about games and say they want something different, when it comes right down to it they actually buy more of the same instead of something different. Hence you have more sequels and less originality.
@superflyzero: I think they're still good to have, as a lot of people still want campaign, story driven experiences. Definitely not the main concern, but I think some people would be mad if they removed them entirely.
I think consumers would be better served to have more options, like just a SP edition for less, or just a MP edition for less, and a combination of both like what we have now. That way everyone could get what they want out of these games, and if it's later decided that one version isn't selling well, the developers would know that people didn't like it, so no need to bother with something similar in the future.
Seems like forcing that stuff in to a one-size-fits-all package is just a money grab.
Success often breeds complacency. If those companies don't have to do things differently in order to get high sales, their products will suffer in the end.
