Does anyone know what a "GPU re-flow" is? I assume this basically translates to "re-melting" the gpu soldering back into place..yes?

And... Has anyone had any experience with Best Buy doing this sort of repair? I just had my xbox repaired under a Best Buy warranty (waste of money, at least from what I can see) and I'm just wondering how effective this GPU re-flow is... Am I doomed to continually get the RROD?

Thanks!

Is the new line of Xbox 360's immune to RROD? Has anyone experienced failures using the 360's with this model? Thanks for the reply

It would be useful if we could find someone with a jasper who got the rrod, like eternity21 asked.... anyone out there? not much point in saying if your older model got it, as most did anyway

I remember last year when i was debating Xbox 360 vs PS3 that they were all about Xbox 360 and that i shouldn't worry about RROD.

You should definitely consider RROD as an extra little bonus that comes with all 360s...

I wish you could...I miss my old pc setup but I don't want to dish out the cash every 2 years to upgrade my pc. I wonder why there isn't a mouse setup available that's any good It must have something to do with the way the games are designed or ported?

no problems with L4D....and it's a ton of fun too! If I were you, I'd see if I could quickly finish Fable2, then trade it in and pay a couple bucks to get L4D

It's odd that your av cable would just break. Maybe you have something wrong with your xbox? A friend of mine had the same problem...sound but no video.

Anyway, you might as well try using an hdmi cable as they are super cheap. Grab one from a dollar store or local computer store for $10 and try that. If that doesn't work, I guess something inside your xbox has 'melted'

What kind of batteries? I found that cheap batteries crap out really easy even when they say they are full. I had the same problems you are having. Then I bought some higher quality batteries and a recharger and I've never had this problem since.

You know what's always bugged me about the Xbox 360? The name.

First off, what does 360 represent? A circle. Roundness. Yet it's called the "Xbox." That's about the sharpest, squarest, jagged, non-circular name you can get. Pairing a name like that with something like "360" seems a tad contradictory to me.

Also, if you go 360 degrees, where do you end up? Right back where you started. Isn't the Xbox 360 supposed to be a huge step forward in home gaming consoles? Like, taking the system in a whole new direction? Wouldn't a name like "Xbox 180" make a little more sense?

Meh. Whatever. Just a thought.
