swimmer1029 Blog

Hey Hey, You You!!

Since I don't have a facebook account (not an active one at least) I'll once again use this place to talk about my life....

I got my ps3's internet up and running, don't know how it got fixed because I didn't do anything to the settings. If you want to add me then go ahead my username is "swimmer1029", shouldn't be hard for you to remember....just tell me who you are because I won't accept if I think you're just one of those random friend requests senders.

I finally got a job, just started yesterday. It's a nice job in pay, but I still dislike the construction gig. What we're doing now isn't so bad since the weather has cooled down, but I hope we can finish it before the heat spikes up again or else it will suck. It's a simple job, just doing some exterior trimwork and getting paid $10 an hour. The way it's going it looks like I'll be able to keep the job all the way up to when school starts. I'll have made a few hundred out of this and in a few days I'll get my financial aid check so I won't be broke for much longer. :D

Speaking of that, school starts in less than two weeks for me. Probably in about a week I'll move into my new apartment. 1000 sq feet, 2 bedroom's, 2 bathroom's, and only 650 a month. I don't care much for the layout for a number of reasons that I won't go into cause I don't want to seem like a whiny little b**** to all of you. :P

Gamingwise, I've only been playing online games lately. Uncharted 2 through my ps3 and I know a few of my brother's xbox live friends so I've been playing Black Ops with them lately. As for Uncharted, I started off doing really well, but lately I've started having terrible matches. I've started losing almost every shootout and grenades seem to kill me even if they're far away. As for Black Ops....I just kick ass in that game. Not the best there is, but I have my fair share of excellent games. (mostly depending on the map). I'm not as good as my brother, but I'm better than most other people I know, I just always seem to be second best compared to my brother in FPS games.

Animewise, I've just been watching Hunter x Hunter lately. I've been trying to read One Piece, but my laptop broke down again and my ps3 can't handle mangafox. Suckish time for it to break down too, the arc was just starting to heat up.

Speaking of my laptop.....as I just said, it broke down again. I just can't explain it, nor can anyone else. D: I got the blue screen of death and after that the computer wouldn't start up. I tried reinstalling the OS out of desperation and now the comp works, but it freezes frequently, we're talking big time freezing here. Takes about 10 minutes to load a web page lately so manga reading doesn't work too well. Once a page has fully loaded though then I can manoeuvre around the page like normal, but it still takes ages to load. Also I can't install anything, I can download anything I want, but whenever I try to install it I get an error. If anyone here is a computer wiz and might know what's wrong then please give me your advice. I know it's not a virus thingsince I wiped the hard drive when I reinstalled the OS. It's got to be hardware related, but I'm not sure what it is.

One small rant, my grammer is slipping. My syntax and spelling have been going steeply downhill lately. D: I guess the spelling can be excused since I've been making 90% of my posts from my ps3 lately, but it's still unsettling. Three years without taking an English, writing, or grammar cIass is getting to me.

I feel like there was something interesting I was wanting to talk about, but I can't remember it, I'll edit it in if I remember.

p.s. @spirit: I'm glad to have you back....really.

All Hail the Spirit King

R.I.P. spiritwave

I'll forever miss you. T_T

.

Moving on and moving quickly, I ended up getting about a C+ in that history cIass and now I'm enrolled in those ICORE cIasses for next semester so I'm bound to have a very busy fall this year, I moved out of my apartment and we didn't get our security deposit back even though we left it in a better condition that what we got it in (my brother tells me that the people who owned the apartment are infamous for screwing people out of their security deposits) so now I owe my brother about $50 because he helped me pay those last bills.

Summer has been going well for me. I've applied at a lot of places but the only place that I've heard back from gave me one of those "you do not meet any of our current needs" type of messages. As for my dad's business, the job he is currently working on doesn't require help so even the option of going to work for him is closed to me. So far I've been spending most of my days dog sitting and playing FFVII, FF Tactics, and the DMC series. My laptop was broken until very recently and even our desktop has been having issues lately so I've been using gaming as an outlet for my inabiltiy to come online much. I played Tactics a TON at first. I like using Ramza's yell ability along with the squire's Accumulate ability to level up my teams super fast. I had a level 80 Ramza before I even got to Igros Castle, but then I lost interest in the game. Then I played through every Devil May Cry game again to refresh my memory on each of the series, in preperation of that DMC blog I'm planning on making. DMC 1 was as good, if not better than I remembered. I managed to beat it on normal mode this time. (first time I switched to easy auto during the first phantom fight). DMC 2 was worse that I remembered, far far worse. I didn't actually play through the whole game this time, I just played through level 5 and got tired of it....but that's it for gaming.....for now.

As far as TV goes, I've started getting into Breaking Bad. Comcast currently has the entire 3rd season on demand and I started watching on a whim. It was really good at first, but there was that one moment at the end of episode 7 that made my jaw drop and it's been indescribably good since then. Probably none of you know what scene I'm talking about and I don't want to spoil it for anyone who might watch it but hasn't yet so I'll just leave it at, DAMN. I totally did not see that coming. I never thought they would have died, NEVER.

Random side note, that was only the second time that I can remember my jaw actually dropping from surprise. The first time I barely remember, I just remember it was outside at nighttime, but I can't remember what it was over, which seems weird because I thought that would be the part I would remember the best.

.

And one last time, R.I.P. Spirit, I can't believe you're gone.

I'll miss ya buddy. *ignores the fact that we still can talk to each other on mal*

Hallo meine Freunde

Short blog today.

Summer semester ends for me the day after tomorrow. All the points are in already except for the final and I'm averaging 82% so I only need to get about a 5% on the final to pass. (but I do plan on doing better than that :P). Anyway, I'm looking forward to not having to go to school for a few months and it will be great to be able to relax a bit. This was the first time I've ever taken cIasses over summer break so I've never noticed how annoying it is to not have that break there between semesters.... Anyway, it will all soon be over and next semester I'll get to enjoy being really busy with my business classes.

.

My lease ends in about 10 days so I've been spending some time packing and getting prepared to move out. Probably the move will take place this weekend since it will be the best time for me to be able to borrow a friends truck. I'll be moving into my parents house for the remainder of the summer and, ideally, me and my brother are going to move into a new apartment just before the start of the new semester. We're kind of at odds about that though because he's being really picky. He's been doing a lot of "this place isn't good enough" and "I don't like the looks of this neighborhood". By the time we find a place that meets his living requirements we'll be paying 400+ a month. >_>

I took some time over the weekend to look back on some of the better memories that I've made in this place and I'm surprised by how few there are. (I'm a very nostalgic guy btw :P) Among the memories that I thought of the best was probably my memory of the first time I played DMC. :P

speaking of that, I think I'll do a DMC blog soon.

.

In other news, I'm flat broke. I spent most of what I had left last night and now I've got about 5 dollars in my savings account and about .2 dollars in my checking account. I seemed to have just enough to pay the bills we had and I'll have my portion of the security deposit back once we move out and that will cover the last water and electricity bill so I guess I'm in the clear for that, but I've got no money for food or fun.....and I still can't seem to find a job. T_T Guess I need to start being more social and make some friends so that they can hook me up when an opening appears at their jobsite. (since 80% of jobs are gotten by having inside contacts and all)

.

Last bit is a gaming update. I've been playing FFX like a madman lately. For the first time in my life I actually stat maxed all of my characters and I can beat Nemesis with ease now. The only 2 things that I haven't done are getting the sigils for Lulu's and Kimahri's weapons, and I don't usually bother because its easier to make your own versions of them instead of dodging lightning 200 times or doing that stupid butterfly challenge. My craze with it is starting to die down though so I think I'll actually finish the game soon. Then I plan on moving on to FF Tactics or FFXII because playing FFX for 1.5 months nonstop apparently isn't enough to satiate my appetite for rpgs.

Song of the blog: Yer so bad (Tom Petty)

I got accepted!!!

Hasn't been too long since my last blog, but I don't care.

First off, remember a few weeks ago when my laptop's hardrive broke down and my friend "fixed" it? Well, turns out it wasn't completely fixed cause now it's broken again and I'm just going to have the hard drive replaced. I'm not very upset this time because I had the forsight to save almost all of my files to an external hard drive a few weeks ago so now I've only lost a few bad sig files and a half completed akabane blog header. *cough* I've been able to lurk on my ps3, but for some reason it won't let me post. Whenever I try to I get disconnected from the internet or the page will load, but there will be no text box. So anyway...new hard drive will be delivered soon I hope and I'll be back on in full then....till then I'll be lurking and watching anime on my TV.

Now, for the reason behind this blog.

http://africanmbaforum.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/INDIANA-UNIVERSITY-KELLEY-SCHOOL-OF-BUSINESS.jpg

I got my acceptance letter last Tuesday. Wiki page about the school

So, come this fall, I'm going to be super busy. First semester in Kelley is incredibly fast paced because we're all required to take these Integrated Core cIasses, and from what I'm told, these cIasses are all pretty much different parts of one big cIass and the entire semester is like one big group project. It's unanimously considered to be the most hectic semester that any business student will face so I guess I'll just look forward to finishing it. I just hope that I don't get stuck with a group of slackers because that would really get annoying after a full semester of having them pull me down....also I hope I don't have an overachieving group cause then I'd be the one dragging them down. :P

I'm sure it will all work out, one way or another.

.

Anyway, I was just really excited that I finally got my letter so I just wanted to share it with people. If I hadn't gotten in then I would have had to push back my life plans by a full semester so I was really sweating about it. :P

Song of the Blog: Serah's theme from FFXIII (don't know why, but it's stuck in my head)

.

on a small note, I haven't been reading many blogs of other people lately. I feel like I'm being selfish by expecting you people to read mine when I don't read yours, so I'm going to start reading them....if only to get rid of this feeling if guilt. D:

2nd Anniversary and 20k posts

It's my second GS anniversary. :o Really I can't believe it's already been two years, but there's also a part of me that feels more like "it's only been 2 years?". This last year wasn't quite as glamorous for me as my first year was, but it was still a good year and I made quite a few good memories, but I'll get into that later.

Stats for the year.

Last year's stats
stats.png picture by kazuma876

You can see that my posting decreased dramatically. I think I got my first 8000 posts during that first summer break and after that it all went downhill. :P The views and the comments, I don't think are right cause I know I made more than 4 comments over the last year, and my views have been on 982 for months. I also made a lot less new friends in year 2, but that's probably only because I stopped going to new places, for the most part at least.

.

Anyway, its summer break now and I'm excited about spending my third summer with GS. During my first summer I remember I was an absolute noob, not just with GS, but also with the internet. :P When I think about some of the things I did I want to facepalm and my face probably turns red with embarassment too. :P I remember I used to get about 300 posts per day. (which was the GS limit for people under level 10) and, though I didn't realize it at the time, those posts were about 80% spam. Though I've changed my ways now I don't really regret how I used to post because it was because of all my spamming with other users that I got a lot of my better memories from that summer (but also some of my worst(selective memory FTW!!!)), but to be honest I'm lucky I wasn't modded for disruptive posting, even if the union was dead. This was also the summer where I went from being an anime fan to being an anime nerd and I learned that comic based cartoons do not properly represent the comic character's strength. (*cough*synshenronbotw*cough*) I got my laptop at the beginning of that summer and it was the first time that I started watching anime online instead of just on Adult Swim.....and so the anime-nerdness began.

All in all, I'd say that my best memories from that summer came from my time in the night shift at the Toonami Union and from my spammy ways with my friends at the DBZ Union and DBZFCU.

.

The second summer wasn't what I had hoped for. I expected that once school had ended then the activity here would increase to a level close to what it had been during my first summer, but I was wrong. D:. With the lower activity levels I wasn't able to go back to my spammy ways of posting and a lot of my friends had left the site and never returned. I still stayed at Toonami a lot and I had fun there too, but I guess I was disappointed that things didn't go back to the way they were....but thats life for ya I guess. I'd say best GS memories from that summer are from my late night talks with Sakura and Bugbag at my DBZ union. I remember that time when our plane crashed on that island and we had to find a way off. :o And that time that there were zombies chasing us and they got Sakura. :o And also I was a vampire...I think. D:

........good times.

.

As for this summer, I don't know what it holds for me yet, but I hope it can be something fun like the last two years.

.

Song of the Blog: Konpaku no Elegie

Have you met my friend Kazuma?

.

I wish you all a happy and fun summer break.

Lockon Stratos, Targeted And Firing!

Just a quick blog because I'm bored. (bored enough to spend 45 minutes making the above GIF, just for the sake of this blog)

.

First off, spring semester ended and I've got just a few days before summer semester begins. The bright side to summer semester is that it's very short (and also it's easy to find a good parking spot on campus), the bad thing about it is that cIasses meet a lot more often than in the other semseters. (e.g. A cIass that normally meets once a week during spring/fall meets 3 times a week during summer) So I'm not overly looking forward to that, and also since I'm taking summer cIasses I won't be able to move home over break so I won't be able to go back to work for my dad's construction company. I hate that job, but the $10 per hour pay was always nice.

On the note about spring semester ending, I managed to do well in my cIasses this semester. I got A's in my computer cIass and in speech, a B- in one of my accounting cIasses (was a C+ before the curve on the final though), and C's in my macroeconomics cIass and my other accounting cIass. I was really sweating about the macroeconomics cIass but I managed to pull off the C with about 1% to spare so I was pretty relieved.

For these few short days off that I have before cIasses start up I pretty much only plan on reading manga and anime. I hadn't been doing much of that lately because of final homeworks and the studying for exams that I had to do. I don't really feel like starting anything new though so I've just been rewatching some old series. I finished both series of Gundam 00 so far and I just restarted watching Trigun tonight. If I have time after that then I'll probably just continue reading Inuyasha I suppose....or maybe I'll reread Beck.

I'm already bored of typing this blog...I just have short attention span tonight I guess.

Lastly, I finally got myself to look at some tuts so I've been making some sigs.
(posted in chronological order from time of making)
Except for the Goku and the Clare one's they almost all look like the results from their respective tuts....especially the Iron Man sig (probably because I kind of cheated on that one and used the same render that the tut used). I already feel like I've learned tons and they're kind of fun to make so I'll probably do a several more tuts in the weeks to come, but it will probably take years before I'm as good as sora, regor, asvicj, flame, or spirit.....

Guess I'll leave it here.....song of the blog: Learning to Fly (a non-anime song this time)

Laptop Fixed. :D

My laptop is fully fixed, new screen and a fixed hard drive so now I'm back. *glomps you* :D

*goes to finish Dragonball manga*

My Laptop Died

You might have noticed that I haven't been on much lately. The reason for this is because my laptop died, and after an inspection from my friend who works with computers for a living, we've discovered that the reason it isn't working is that the hard drive is faulty. Fortunately the 2 year warranty still has 6 weeks left so I won't have to pay for the replacement. The bad thing is that I'm losing ALL of my photoshop documents. T_T I just deleted my back ups a few days before the problem happened too so now they'll be gone forever......you designers will probably understand how I feel.

Anyway, since we're getting the hard drive replaced I figured I'd go ahead and get the screen replaced too. I haven't been able to watch any anime and I haven't been able to really look at the manga art either so it will be nice to be able to do those again.

It will still be about a week or two before the replacements come so until then the only computer I can use is the one at the library, and since its kind of a long way to go just to get on GS I probably won't be around much except for next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday since I'll already be on campus anyway. After that I'll hopefully be able to get my laptop back.

On the bright side I'm getting a lot of reviews written since I have little else to do.

Song Of The Blog

This is a blog...

Well, it's been about a month since I blogged so I figured that I might as well make another.

Table of Contents
I. School
II. Traffic Ticket
III. Computer Screen
IV. New Sig
V. Card Battle
VI. Manga
VII. Spring Break

Table of Contents is meant to be a joke type thing. My blog isn't actually long enough that it needs its own table of contents. :P

.

I. School

School's been going fine. I kind of bombed a speech last week due to my nervousness, but surprisingly my other cIasses are giving me no problems at all. The only thing that's really gone bad this semester is that it turns out that my advisor from last semester sucked and it turns out that I'm not taking all of the cIasses that I was supposed to be taking this semester, meaning I'm going to have to take a cIass or two this summer, or else I'llfall behind a semester. :x

Worst problem about school is the cost. Tuition aside, I spent about $800 on just my books this semester.....rediculous. None of them were even new, I got them all used, at the cheapest price I could find....what really pisses me off though ishow my professors tell us we need the book for the course, so we go out and buy a $200 book, and then2 months later we haven't used it once, and then by the end of the semester we've never used it once.

Unrelated School note: It's shocking, but there's already only about 1 month left in this semester. When that time comes I'll be happy....I guess. (depending on what cIasses I have to take over the summer).

.

II. Traffic Ticket

January 29, 2011 I was driving at about 1 in the morning. A cop pulls me over and tells me I have a headlight out.....he writes me a $150 ticket.......freaking bastard. I know for a fact that it was working just the night before, and I had no idea that it was out. Most importantly though, what kind of cop actually gives out a ticket for that? Sure, pull me over and give me a warnig or at most a warning ticket, but seeing as how I had never been pulled over for something like that before (this was only my second time being pulled over in fact), and how I was breaking NO other laws, I think he should have cut me a little slack.

He's the type of cop that I wouldn't mind shooting.....not to kill or anything. Just 2 quick bullets to the kneecaps......and then 1 to the spine to paralyze him. (it's important to paralyze him because if you just take out his kneecaps then he'll probably get on some special workers compensation program and he'll get to live comfortably for the rest of his life (maybe).....so it's best to just paralyze him for life so that he can't enjoy an early retirement) :|

And I wonder why I have violent dreams. :P

.

III. Computer Screen

My laptop screen got cracked about a month ago. Looked it up and it's going to be about $150 to replace so I don't think I'll get it fixed for a while. Initially it wasn't that bad, but it progressively got worse over time, but for now it seems to have stopped getting worse. I'm limited to a small section about 1/6 the size of the screen and with some maneuvering I'm still able to design things and read manga so it's not as big of a deal as I thought it was going to be....at first I really thought it was going to completely break down so that I couldn't see a thing, but that hasn't happened yet so.....yay!......

.

IV. New Sig

....I made a new sig. :D

But it sucks. Not by best, but not my worst, so I'll take it.

p.s. It was almost completely pen tooled, except for the render and the circles (Those japanese letters took ages to get right)

Killua from Hunter x Hunter for those who didn't know. Not really one of my favorite characters, but he's somewhere in the top 15, if not the top 10.

.

V. Card Battle

I started a card battle for my DBZ union again. I think the cards are better looking this year, but less people joined than last years battle.

Some of my better looking cards from this year's crop.
cards 3cardscards 6
Aren't you all disappointed that you didn't join now? I thought so....you should remember this for next year.

.

VI. Manga

I mentioned that school hasn't been too hard this semester. This has left me with a lot of leisure time so I've been reading a lot of manga. I finished Rurouni Kenshin about a week ago and it was great! Seems like everything I read is always great.....guess it's because I only start reading something if it's gotten high reviews.

I started FMA soon after finishing Kenshin. The manga is way better than the original anime for sure, and I'm hoping to have it done by Thursday. Then hopefully I'll be able to finish Shaman King by the end of Spring Break.

.

VII. Spring Break

It's been Spring Break for a few days now, but I haven't done anything special. Normally for Spring Break I gather all the coins I've saved from over the past year and trade them for cash and then use the money to do something fun, but this year I can't think of anything I want to do...also with all the random expenses I've been running into this semester I feel a bit guilty spending that money on something fun when I could spend it on bills instead so I doubt I'll end up doing anything.

I wonder if that's how my parents have felt for the past 25 years. :P I suppose there has to be a balance in there somewhere, between responsible spending and selfish spending. Maybe I'll just buy myself a Hunter x Hunter volume and deposit the rest of the money. I've been wanting to have an actual volume of Hunter x Hunter for quite some time now anyway.

I think I'll do that. *smiles*

.

Now that this blog is needlessly long, I'm going to go ahead and stop. 3 of the points were only thrown in there to make the blog longer....so now I'll know who my dedicated friends are by seeing who actually read the whole thing. :P

So good bye and good riddance.....have a nice day and take care of yourselves so that you may live long enough to see my next blog and bask in its unbridled glory.

and on a side note, I've been using a lot of "....." to connect my sentences and to put pauses in them. I don't know why or when I started doing this, but it annoys me. I keep doing it because it happens almost automatically at this point, but I'm trying to fix that.. (I did it 13 times in this blog, without meaning to. (*is too lazy to go and fix them*) )

.

Last last thing,

SOTB (Song Of The Blog) - Moshimo Kono Sekai de Kimi to Boku ga Deae Nakattara

Yeah, long name, just listen to it. :D

Cutting Back On Internet TIme

I'll keep this short.

My left eye has been twitching a lot for the last few weeks, and now my right eye is starting to do it too. After a quick web search I've decided that it's twitching either because of stress or because of eyestrain from staring at my computer screen too much....My money is on the eyestrain part. (mostly due to all of the low quality manga scans I've been running into lately.)

So I've decided to cut my recreational computer time to 2 hours a day. Might still seem like I'm on a lot because I'm going to try and break it down into 15-30 minute increments, but still I won't be around much anymore. If my eye stops twitching then I'll gradually increase my online time, but for now some time off actually does sound kind of nice. :P

Merry Christmas an good night.
