Episode 158: Fill the World With Light: Radiant Aurora Dragon!

A fence is shattered as a man is blasted through it and into a set of doors that open and pull him in. Shimmer is panting as figures keep marching.

Shimmer: This is bad. These guys are really though…

Frost and Flame Dragon is destroyed as he falls back. He struggles to stand as figures begin to crowd around him.

Shimmer: Sorry buddy…looks like I'm spent.

He closes his eyes when another monster knocks the figure back. They turn to look as more people march up, surrounding Shimmer.

Figure: Move it trash!

Farmer: Sir, you'd best leave our town right now.

Figure: And why, pray tell, would we do that? You think we feel threatened by you? Can you even duel?

Farmer: No, we don't. But this is our town and we won't let you punks spoil it. After all, Seth Kuranma comes from here. We want to make sure this place is fit for a king when he finally comes home to where he belongs.

Opening

In Pandemonium, Dante walks down the steps and looks at a card that is glowing and giving off darkness.

Dante: So the final hero is fighting. But if he does not overcome his trial, he will not awaken completely and the world will fall to ruin. Will he overcome?

Salia: Finish him! Sapphire Dark Horn!

Koga: Seth! Run for it!

Arnold: Damn it, you can't lose here! How can you save Salia and everyone else if you fall here?!

Seth: I'm sorry…but there's nothing else to be done. I can't win. I'm not strong enough. I'm not…the king.

He closes his eyes and then finds himself in the void.

Fate 1: So in the end, you could not return rainbows and light to your world.

Seth: What's the point? My title is gone. I can't fight for anyone anymore. I've lost everything…including my best friend. Even if I still had my title I don't deserve it now.

Fate 1: Perhaps not. But why is that an issue for you?

Seth: Huh? Elaborate.

Fate 1: In the past, people would not accept you as their best duelist. But in the end, you won their respect, and even when you lost it you never let it get to you.

Seth: What…are you saying?

Fate 1: Since the beginning, haven't you walked your own path, not considering any others? Why care now? Who cares if you're not the strongest? Who cares where you come from? You've never let that bother you in the past. Since the beginning, haven't you walked down your own path?

Seth: Yes….I have.

Fate 1: Are you going to let it end here? With your friends in pain and depending on you? That isn't a very kingly thing to do, is it?

Seth: No…it isn't!

Salia: I win!

Seth: I remove Permanent Ink in the graveyard and end this battle, halving all damage.

The laser hits Black as the blast diffuses around it, hitting Seth as he flies back [Seth LP = 1650].

Salia: What? You survived?

Seth: Salia…get ready. We're finishing this fight.

Salia: Don't be a fool! Don't you see this is a chance to change the world?! We can graft whatever kind of world we like!

Seth: Forcing people to change does not make anything different. Only by convincing people to change can you make a difference and change people. The Salia I know is sweet and changes things with her own power. By this Salia…is forcing people using darkness. And that Salia is not the Salia important to me!

Salia: …You don't understand. How can the man I love be so dim? Fine. I see I have to change your mind as well. Let's continue! [Salia LP = 2600]. I set a card, turn end.

Seth: Here I go, draw! She has five monsters. Advanced Crystal Beasts Sapphire Pegasus [ATK 5800/DEF 5200 LV 4] equipped with United We Stand, Topaz Tiger [ATK 1600/DEF 1000 LV 4], Amethyst Cat [ATK 1200/DEF 400 LV 3], Amber Mammoth [ATK 1700/DEF 1600 LV 4], and Ruby Carbuncle [ATK 300/DEF 300 LV 3]. Plus she has Cobalt Eagle in her Spell zone. Damn…all I have is my Shadowy Black [ATK 2500/DEF 1000 LV 6]. She certainly has a lot of powerful monsters. But even so…I need to keep fighting! I draw! I summon Color Warrior- Guiding Indigo [ATK 1300/DEF 800 LV 3]. Battle! I attack Ruby Carbuncle!

Salia: Going for a physical attack now? Too bad. I send one monster from the deck to the graveyard and negate this damage.

Seth: No. Indigo negates a Spell card once per turn. So you won't be able to use your Field Spell!

Black extends its claws and claws the monster to pieces. Salia cries out as the wind knocks her back [Salia LP = 400]. Ruby forms into a crystal.

Arnold: Nice hit! But…Salia…

Salia: Why….why?! I'm doing this for our sake! Why are you so opposed to my actions?!

Seth: It's like I said. The Salia I know isn't like this at all. I'm doing this for your sake Salia! Come back to us!

Salia: I can't…this is something I must do. Stand by me or stay out of the way.

Seth: I'm sorry Salia….but neither one of those things are going to happen! Turn end!

Salia: Fine then. It looks like you need to be convinced. I draw! I may have one less monster [ATK 5000/DEF 4400 LV 4] but I still have more than enough attack power to bring you down. Sapphire Pegasus attacks Shadowy Black! Sapphire Dark Horn!

Seth: Indigo, once per turn, becomes the target of an attack.

It flies in the way and is destroyed. Salia growls in anger.

Seth: You've seen me duel countless times. How did you forget what it does? Unless you remember…and no longer want to fight this pointless battle.

Salia: Shut up! I was hoping you would see reason and just let me attack. I guess that plan is gone. Spell card, Gold Sarcophagus. Now one card in my deck is removed from play for two turns. If all else fails…..turn end! But first, I'll change every monster except Pegasus to defense mode [ATK 1700/DEF 1600 LV 4] [ATK 1600/DEF 1000 LV 4] [ATK 1200/DEF 400 LV 3]. Your move.

Seth: Alright, here goes. Draw! I use Pot of Greed and draw 2 cards. Then I summon Color Warrior- Brawling Burgundy [ATK 1800/DEF 0 LV 4]. Let's battle! I attack Amber Mammoth with Burgundy.

It punches the monster thousands of times and it shatters, forming a crystal.

Seth: And now I destroy Amethyst Cat using Black.

It claws the monster into three pieces as it becomes a crystal.

Salia: Damn. That's two more monsters gone [ATK 3400/DEF 2800 LV 4].

Arnold: Those crystals are really bothering me now. Why gather them? What does it do for her?

Koga: You're probably thinking too much into it.

Arnold: Maybe so….but I still can't shake the bad feeling.

Seth: I set a card and end my turn. Come on Salia, let's keep going. I'll smash through any monster you have. I need to win, no matter what.

Salia: Looks like you're starting to get overconfident. Though I can't say you didn't earn it. I took you too lightly. Draw! One more turn…if I can't win before then, I'll have no choice but to use it. I don't want to but…I use the Trap Jar of Greed and draw a card. Battle! I attack with Sapphire Pegasus. Destroy Burgundy! Sapphire Dark Horn!

Seth: Trap card, Blank Canvas. All damage in this battle is negated.

The monster is torn apart by the laser as he looks away.

Seth: Sorry…you need to try harder.

Salia: Please Seth…stop this. You have no idea what is about to start. This is for the good of the world! Why are you so dead set on opposing me?!

Seth: It's simple Salia. Like I said before, the Salia I knew and loved who would never do things like this! That is why I won't allow this to occur!

Salia: …Turn end.

Seth: Back to me, draw! I set a card. Battle! I attack Topaz Tiger!

It slashes the monster and it falls apart. Salia tears up a little as it forms into a crystal [ATK 2600/DEF 2000 LV 4].

Seth: Your monster is weaker now. All those other monsters are gone. You might as well just give up Salia. This battle is pointless. We won't gain anything from it.

Salia: Maybe you won't….but I will.

Seth: …Salia. Fine. Turn end.

Koga: This is good right? Seth's starting to come back.

Arnold: No…I get the feeling something bad is about to happen. Salia sealed that card after all.

Salia: I thought you would understand Seth. I thought you, of all people, would understand my feelings. But I guess you're that dim after all. Fine, I've already made up my mind. Draw! I add the card removed from play to my hand. Now I summon Advanced Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise [ATK 600/DEF 2000 LV 3]. [ATK 3400/DEF 2800 LV 4].

Koga: That monster got even stronger. Is she planning an attack?

Arnold: Seven monsters…hold on! If the legend I heard was correct, then she's going to summon that. Or…something like that.

Salia: Seven Advanced Crystal Beasts have been gathered. By releasing 7 different Advanced Crystal Beasts, I can summon this monster from my hand. Come forth, avatar of the black rainbow! Fill the world with black light! I summon Rainbow Dark Dragon!

All seven monsters fly into the sky and become a rainbow as the monster descends, roaring and blowing everyone back [ATK 4000/DEF 0 LV 10].

Seth: Rainbow Dark Dragon…

Koga: To think she had a monster that tough!

Salia: Advanced Dark's effect! Now any monster that Rainbow Dark Dragon battles has its effects negated. Go, Rainbow Dark Dragon! Destroy Color Warrior- Shadowy Black! Dark Rainbow Reflection!

It charges up the blast and fires, taking out Black. Seth cries out as he flies back from the force of the attack, hitting the ground [Seth LP = 150].

Koga and Arnold: Seth!

Arnold: Not good! He has under 200 life points!

Salia: Now do you see how pointless it is? My black rainbow will black out any light or hope you have for victory. Turn end.

Seth: Rainbow…Dark Dragon. How on earth…do I stand a chance against that thing?

Salia: Now do you see how pointless your struggle is? You are better off quitting right here and now. Please Seth…I don't want to hurt you. I love you more than anything in this world. I want to build us a happy future.

Seth: I'm sorry…but I can't believe any future created this way would be good!

Salia: Seth! Please see reason! This monster…I don't want to use this Card of Darkness. But if it means that we can finally be together, I won't hesitate! Turn end.

Seth: This is bad…draw! I set a monster. Somehow…I have to hold on. I made a promise to save you Salia. But without Accel Synchro…no! Her monster isn't invincible! I still have a chance!

Salia: Draw. I equip my monster with Mist Body. Now Rainbow Dark Dragon can't be destroyed in battle.

Arnold: But if effects and battle have been held down, how is he going to take that thing down!?

Salia: I attack your set monster. Dark Rainbow Reflection!

It charges and fires, blowing up the opposing monster.

Seth: When Color Warrior- Sharp Silver is destroyed, a Broken Bronze is summoned from the deck.

Salia: Did you forget? Advanced Dark negates those effects. Any monster against me becomes a Normal monster. Try your hardest, but nothing will come of it. Turn end.

Seth: Alright, my turn. I just…need to draw. D…draw! Trap card, Prism Break. Now I revive as many Color Warriors as possible in defense mode with their attack, defense, and effects negated. Revive; Shadowy Black, Lovely Pink, Broken Bronze, Sharp Silver, and Brawling Burgundy [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 6] [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 2] [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 1] [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 3] [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 4].

Salia: Nothing but a wall of weaklings!

Seth: Spell card, Gift of Color. Now that two Color Warrior monsters exist, I draw 2 cards. These cards….I set two cards and end my turn.

Salia: My turn, draw! You think you can hold off my attacks? Any attempt is pointless. I attack with Rainbow Dark Dragon. Dark Rainbow Reflection!

It fires and blows up Shadowy Black.

Seth: It's fine. As long as…

Salia: I set a card. Turn end.

Seth: What? A Trap?

Salia: My set card is Bind Light. When a LIGHT monster is summoned, its effects are negated and it can't attack. I know that set card is Guidance to the Northern Lights. I know your plan is to summon Aurora Borealis Dragon. Once you do, you lose.

Seth: No…that can't be. But my monster's effect determines its power. My set is Mystical Space Typhoon, but it only influences one card, not two. Are you saying…is everyone really telling me…I lose no matter what?

He falls to his knees and looks down in sorrow.

Salia: Now you see how pointless everything really is? I planned out everything. As tough as you are, Aurora has always been your ace. Without that, hope is gone.

Seth: No…not after all this. Damn!

Arnold: Seth, don't give up! So what if you can't use Aurora?! That's never mattered to you!

Koga: We thought some duels were bad. But you always came through. We know you can come through here now! Haven't you noticed even when you lose we support you? It doesn't matter if you're a farmer or if you're a king. Either way…

Koga and Arnold: You're Seth Kuranma!

Seth begins to tear up and smiles, standing up. Salia's eyes widen as his crystal glows.

Seth: Everyone…even now, you lend me support. With this support…there's no way I can lose! Here goes, draw! Trap card, Guidance to the Northern Lights. I release two Color Warriors. Now I summon Aurora Borealis Dragon, who gains 700 points for each released monster [ATK 1400/DEF 0 LV 9].

Salia: And with such low attack points? You finally see there's no hope?

Seth: My hope is just getting started.

Salia: Why…? Why?! Fine! I'll shatter any hope you have! Trap card, Bind Light! Your monster loses all effects.

Seth: Set card, Mystical Space Typhoon! This destroys Advanced Dark.

The wind destroys the ring as Dragon is still bound [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 9].

Salia: Ha! And what did that accomplish?

Seth: Going to give this a shot. Here I go! Even if this is out of my reach, I'll build a road to it! My own road, no one else's!

He screams as light pours from him. In his inner world, rainbows appear. Two cards appear in his hands.

Fate 1: You finally discovered the truth. Very well. I will unleash that power!

Seth: I tune level 2 Color Warrior- Lovely Pink and level 1 Color Warrior- Broken Bronze.

Pink becomes 2 rings that Bronze flies through, becoming 1 star [2 + 1 = 3]

Seth: This is the power of Seth Kuranma! Synchro-Tuner, Rainbow Synchron [ATK 900/DEF 1800 LV 3].

Salia: Another one?! But you don't have a Synchro monster!

Seth: Once per turn, Rainbow Synchron changes the type of a monster. Aurora Borealis Dragon now becomes a Synchro monster!

Koga: Is he allowed to do that?

Seth: Even if people hate me for it, I'll still ride my own path! Level 3 Synchro-Tuner Rainbow Synchron, tunes to the level 9 Synchro monster Aurora Borealis Dragon!

Synchron becomes 3 rings that Dragon flies through, becoming 9 stars [3 + 9 = 12].

Salia: Stop them Rainbow Dark Dragon!

Seth: A rainbow shines and guides the path to tomorrow. Seven colors, seven hearts, seven souls, shine the way! Accel Synchro! Show yourself, Radiant Aurora Dragon!

The monster shatters the darkness and roars, shining with the light of the rainbow [ATK 3700/DEF 1900 LV 12]. All the Fate Crystals glow as Leon looks in shock and the Oracle opens his eyes.

Oracle: The final hero has awakened.

Arnold: This is…his Accel Synchro monster?

Salia: No way…this is hope?

Seth: Salia, I will illuminate your heart now. Radiant Aurora's power! By removing all LIGHT monsters from play, all my opponent's DARK monsters lose 500 points for each one. I remove 8 LIGHT monsters [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 10]. End this. Go, Glorious Rainbow Ray!

It fires a rainbow from its mouth that divides into seven rays, piercing Rainbow Dark Dragon in seven different places. It roars in pain and blows up, sending Salia flying back [Salia LP = 0] as the darkness vanishes. Seth hurries over and kneels by her.

Seth: Salia! Are you okay, Salia?!

Salia: I'm sorry…Seth. I let the darkness control me. But…I wanted you to notice me so badly…to feel for me as I do you. Was that selfish of me?

Seth: …No, it wasn't. Everyone takes their own path through life. When I was king, I thought I didn't need the title and I just wanted people to recognize me for me. But when I lost my title, I realized how important it was to me and that it was a huge part of who I am. You were the one who helped me realize that Salia.

Salia: Seth…you're going to save us all right? I'll be waiting…for…you…

She smiles at Seth and closes her eyes as a door pulls her inside the Underworld. Vergil's eyes narrow.

Vergil: The final hero…amusing.

Koga: Hey Seth, are you okay?

Seth: …Yeah. Come on, let's go. Let me walk in front this time. I'm going to show Vergil my road.

Arnold: Yes sir!

They smile and run after him.

Baron: Today we'll be going over Radiant Aurora Dragon. By removing LIGHT monsters, an opponent loses attack points equal to the removed monsters. I have to wonder how light is that dangerous though.

Dragon appears and gives off intense rays of light. Baron screams.

Baron: My eyes, my eyes!

He runs around and hits a wall.

Seth: Don't insult my deck.

Episode 157: Hesitation: A Closed Heart

In the fields, numerous figures march. One of them snarls and spits.

Figure: How lame. We've really got to come out to the boonies?

Figure 2: Any soul for the Yomishin will do. We must sacrifice the entire world to herald their arrival.

Figure: Come on, how much power can they really have? Do they even know how to duel?

Shimmer: You sound pretty overconfident to me.

Shimmer and a bunch of people stand there with Duel Disks at ready.

Shimmer: We'll have you know the former king Seth Kuranma was born here. And we need to make sure this place is fit for a king when he finally returns. If you threaten that peace, then bring it!

Opening

Koga and Arnold walk down a hallway. Seth walks behind them and rubs the back of his head.

Seth: You guys are embarrassing me. Why can't I walk in front?

Arnold: Isn't it obvious? If any of those Brotherhood fools try to come at you, we'll be in the way.

Koga: No matter what, we'll make sure nothing bad happens to you Seth! We'll duel in your stead, you know that!

Seth: Yes…but I ask that you don't. I don't…want to lose you guys like we lost Salia…

Arnold: Would you stop going on about that? There was nothing you could have done.

Koga: And besides, we were the ones dueling. We're the ones who should be at fault here, not you.

Seth: I know that fact. But still I was the one who let you fight. If I just fought myself…

Arnold: That's enough! We made the choice to fight! Salia knew what she was doing and she battled for you.

Seth: I know all that. But…it doesn't make me feel any better.

He closes his eyes and walks ahead. Koga and Arnold glance at each other and follow. Seth enters a dark room and looks around.

Seth: So, who's here?

???: Welcome.

The robed figure walks out of the shadows.

Rooster: I am Rooster. You and your friends have done well to reach this level of Pandemonium.

Seth: Rooster…I battled a person named Rooster once. Tell me, are you the same Rooster, or are you a different one?

Rooster: You know who I am. After all Seth, we were together for so long.

Rooster pulls down her hood. Seth's eyes widen as he steps back in shock. Koga and Arnold gasp as well.

Koga: Salia! You're alive!

Arnold: Stay away from her! Something's not right.

Seth: Salia….why are you with them?! Weren't you pulled into the darkness?

Salia: I'm with them because they will help make my dreams real.

She walks over to Seth and kisses him on the mouth. He freaks and pushes her away, stepping back.

Seth: Salia….what was that?

Salia: I should have guessed that would be your response. I knew you never understood my feelings.

Seth: Salia…this isn't you talking. It's like with the others. The darkness has corrupted you. Come on, snap out of it!

Salia: What's wrong Seth? Are you disgusted seeing the real me? I'd imagine you are. A little king like you wouldn't be caught dead kissing a maid like me. I'm below you, isn't that right?

Seth: Stop twisting my words! I never said anything like that!

Salia: You don't need to say them because I know you're thinking them. How selfish you are…you don't care about anyone but yourself. The king of Cynemia City, Seth Kuranma. If people knew the truth about you and your modest backgrounds, they would never accept you.

Seth: Who cares about that now Salia?! I have to stop the Brotherhood, whether or not you get in the way.

Salia: Ah, but the Brotherhood is going to help me accomplish my wish. For that reason, I'll help them. If you want to get by, you'll have to go through me.

Seth: Salia, this is insanity! I'm not going to fight you!

Salia: I'm not giving you a choice in the matter.

Arnold: Master Seth…let us fight.

Koga: If you don't want to we can always step in and…

Seth: No….no, you guys just stand back. I'll deal with Salia. I half expected this to occur anyway. Alright Salia, I'll fight you. But on the condition you come back to us when you lose!

Salia: Whatever. If I win, we'll be together forever in a world of darkness. I can't wait.

Seth activates his Duel Disk as one appears on Salia's arm. Her eyes glow black as darkness surrounds them.

Both: Duel! [Salia LP = 4000] [Seth LP = 4000]

Koga: A Shadow Game? I don't get it. Salia really cares for him. Why would she play this dangerous game with Seth?

Arnold: I don't get it. The darkness must be messing with her brain. She loves him more than anything else. Why would she try and kill him.

Salia: You can go first my darling. Show me the power of the former king.

Seth: Hmph. If that is your attempt at intimidation, I'd work harder at it. Here goes, draw! I summon Color Warrior- Stripe Lasher [ATK 1900/DEF 0 LV 4]. I set two cards and end my turn.

Salia: Trying to overpower me? That's always been you. But will you really be able to go all out on me? We shall see. I draw. I use the Field Spell card Advanced Dark.

The rune appears around them and seals her and Seth inside.

Seth: Advanced Dark? That's not like you Salia. Usually you stick to LIGHT cards.

Salia: I did. But DARK monsters are much better suited to the real me. As long as Advanced Dark is out, all monsters become DARK monsters and I can send an Advanced Crystal Beast from the deck to the graveyard and negate battle damage.

Arnold: Advanced Crystal Beasts? She's nuts. There's no such thing.

Salia: Is that so Arnold? You always thought you were right. Does this prove you wrong? I summon Advanced Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger [ATK 1600/DEF 1000 LV 4].

Arnold: Impossible! She shouldn't have that!

Salia: Let's battle. Tiger attacks Lasher. When it attacks, it gains 400 attack points [ATK 2000/DEF 1000 LV 4].

It roars and leaps forward, slashing the monster in three. Seth snarls [Seth LP = 3900].

Seth: Nice monster. Shouldn't have doubted it.

Salia: Empty praise means nothing to me. I set a card. Turn end [ATK 1600/DEF 1000 LV 4].

Seth: Back to me, draw! Trap card, Water Colors. Now my monster revives with a decreased level [ATK 1900/DEF 0 LV 3]. I release him for Color Warrior- Majestic Magenta [ATK 2200/DEF 1100 LV 5]. Battle! I attack Topaz Tiger.

Salia: I send an Advanced Crystal Beast from my deck to the graveyard to negate damage.

The whip cracks, shattering Tiger, only to come back and hit Salia.

Seth: No Battle Damage…no you do take 600 points of damage through his power.

Salia: Not a big deal [Salia LP = 3400]. When Topaz Tiger is destroyed, he is reformatted into a Continuous Spell card. Trap card, Shattering Crystal. Since a Crystal Beast was sent to the graveyard, through Advanced Dark which I used earlier, it is placed in my Spell and Trap card zone. Resurrect, Cobalt Eagle.

Koga: Why bring back monsters as Spell cards? They can't battle or anything like that.

Arnold: Yes…there must be some alternate reason or motive.

Seth: Crystals Salia? You never used to be so girly as to use things like that.

Salia: Don't act like you know me. All you know about me is my outward actions. I know everything about you though.

Seth: If you really want to say things like that, I won't be inhibited. Salia, I really don't want to fight you. I set a card and end my turn.

Salia: I want to fight though. Fighting you is the only way to ensure we will be together forever. I draw. I summon Advanced Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat [ATK 1200/DEF 400 LV 3]. By halving this monster's attack points, it strikes directly [ATK 600/DEF 400 LV 3]. Claw his face off!

Seth: Trap card, Paint Thinner. This negates all damage I take during this battle.

The claws are blocked by goo and Cat flies back.

Salia: Coward. You won't fight me head on? So much for being the king of Cynemia City eh? I set a card and end my turn.

Seth: Salia…what happened to you? You used to be sweet and kind. But now….what have you become? There's no other option. I have to beat you Salia. I draw! Tuner monster, Color Warrior- Lovely Pink [ATK 800/DEF 600 LV 2]. Using her power, I change your opposing monster to defense mode [ATK 1200/DEF 400 LV 3]. Spell card, Tuning Down. One Tuner monster loses a level [ATK 800/DEF 600 LV 1]. I tune the level 1 Color Warrior- Lovely Pink and level 5 Color Warrior- Majestic Magenta.

Pink becomes 1 ring that Magenta flies through, becoming 5 stars [1 + 5 = 6].

Seth: Color and light blends to become an aurora that shines with true power. Synchro Summon, Color Warrior- Shadowy Black [ATK 2500/DEF 1000 LV 6].

Koga: Synchro Summon!

Arnold: If he can keep up with the pressure he might have a chance.

Seth: The power of Black will now activate. Since all your monsters are in defense mode, Black can attack directly.

Salia: I know what it does. How many times have I seen you use it?

Seth: I don't want to be so rough, but I can't let her think this way anymore. I need to get through to Salia somehow. Battle! Shadowy Black, strike her directly!

Salia: Trap card, Negate Attack.

I summon Advanced Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth [ATK 1700/DEF 1600 LV 4]. I change Amethyst Cat to attack mode [ATK 1200/DEF 400 LV 3]. By halving the attack points of Amethyst Cat, it rages a direct attack [ATK 600/DEF 400 LV 3].

It lunges forward at Seth. He steps back as it claws him, sending him stepping back as he cries out [Seth LP = 3300].

Seth: Damn…it's only a measly 600 points of damage, but that really hurt.

Salia: What's wrong? Is my monster too tough for you? Surrender is always an option you know.

Seth: I can't…afford to give up. I need to drag you out of the darkness.

Salia: Fool…you still don't get it. I don't want to hurt you Seth, but you aren't giving me much choice in the matter. I have to win this duel. My wish….my wish must be granted.

Seth: Your wish? What is your wish Salia? Whatever it is, we can help you achieve it. Trust us.

I revive Lovely Pink this time [ATK 800/DEF 600 LV 1]. I tune my level 1 Color Warrior- Lovely Pink and level 1 Color Warrior- Broken Bronze.

Pink becomes 1 ring that Bronze flies through, becoming 1 star [1 + 1 = 2]

Seth: Synchro Summon, Synchro-Tuner, Formula Synchron [ATK 200/DEF 1500 LV 2].

It flies at the monster and cuts it. Salia frowns as it reforms into a crystal [Salia LP = 2600].

Arnold: She has four crystals now. What is she planning with those?

Seth: Alright. Looks like I've got to end my turn with that. And now things are set up. I hope I won't have to resort to that but…Salia…

Salia: Nicely done. This is more like it. Let's see if I can't do better. Draw! This is going to hurt us both Seth. But it must be done for us to stay together. I summon Advanced Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus [ATK 1800/DEF 1200 LV 4]. When summoned like this, one Crystal Beast can be summoned from the deck. Come on, Advanced Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle [ATK 300/DEF 300 LV 3]. When this card is Special Summoned, I can summon Advanced Crystal Beasts from my Spell and Trap card zone. Seth: No! Over 5000 attack points?!

Salia: I'm so sorry…this hurts me too. But you must understand Seth; I'm doing this because I love you. But this world would never accept a former king and his maid getting together. The world is judgmental and cold like that. We have to change the world and show them how wrong that though is. Then we can be together, all four of us. Koga and Arnold included. You understand as well. We need to change the world.

Arnold: Salia…yeah, I suppose we can understand. But this is the wrong way to go about it!

Koga: What happened to the kind and considerate Salia!? The one who always dealt with things against them with a smile.

Salia: You are fools, all of you. That Salia was far too weak to make her dreams real. Kindness and sympathy are not strong enough to make dreams real. I believed that and it never got me anything. Seth: I don't think so! Formula Synchron lets me Synchro Summon during the Battle Phase. Salia, I'll use this and get you back to the way you used to be! I tune the level 2 Formula Synchron and level 6 Color Warrior- Shadowy Black!

Synchron becomes 2 rings that Black flies through, becoming 6 stars. However, both the stars and rings blow up and turn to normal.

Seth: What? What?!

Fate 1: Seth, now is not the time for you to learn Accel Synchro.

Seth: What?! Where is that voice coming from?! What do you mean I'm not ready?!

Salia: Isn't it clear, Seth? You aren't the king of Cynemia City anymore. You tied with Yusuke and lost to Neo. Those fights alone removed that title. But also, you denied the path of the king that made you strong. And now you're weak and always shall be.

Seth falls to his knees and begins to tear up.

Arnold: Seth, snap out of it! Seth!

Seth: I'm…weak?

Salia: But don't let that upset you. Once this duel ends, you will become a new king and experience real power and a new rule.

Seth: Power….power to protect those I love? My friends…and you?

Salia: Yes…my dear Seth. Amber Mammoth destroy Formula Synchron and prevent his Accel Synchro!

Mammoth stomps on Synchron. Seth continues to lie there.

Koga: Seth! Get up and run!

Salia: I'll see you soon….Sapphire Pegasus, end this! Sapphire Dark Horn!

In Seth's inner world, the first Fate stands.

Fate 1: So in the end, you could not return light to your world. Perhaps you were not the hero after all.

Pegasus charges a blast and fires, aiming towards Black. Salia smiles and begins to laugh as the blast gets closer.

Alicia: You want to rephrase that sexist statement?

He backs away as many female characters surround him cracking their knuckles.

Baron: Hey, hold on now! Hey!

Curtains close as Yusuke and Axel stand there while Baron screams in pain.

Yusuke: Trust us, you don't want to see what's going on behind this curtain.

Episode 156: A Bond That Never Fades

In the city, people are running away as robed figures are attacking with monsters.

Figure: Defeat anyone you see! Man, woman, or child. The Yomishin require souls no matter whose soul it is.

Figure 2: Yes, my lord!

As they march, many people hide inside a building. One of them is Dex's mother as she shakes in fear.

Dex's mother: Dex…honey. Wherever you are, please be safe.

Man: Hold on, I think the coast is clear.

He looks out the window as it shatters. Everyone inside steps back as hooded figures begin to crawl though.

Dex's mother: No…no! My husband…my child!

A Buster Blader suddenly appears and holds off with the attack with a St. Joan.

Dex's mother: What? Wait…you're…!

Yusuke's mother: Our kids are out there fighting to keep the world safe.

Yusuke's father: Everyone, let's make sure our kids have something to come back to! Fight until the end!

Opening

In a dark room, Vergil sits watching the Inferno. Faust appears and bows.

Faust: about half the battles have already ended sir.

Vergil: I see…so they will be making their way down here soon.

Faust: Father, can we really trust the Dex boy?

Vergil: It sounds as though you are implying something Faust. Care to elaborate?

Faust: Simply that I battled him. He has the power of the Fate Crystal. That gives him the power to change destiny, the destiny we hope to create. Won't he gain the power to stop us, even with the darkness we gave him?

Vergil: In the end, it matters not. In the end, those who hold the Fate Crystals must fall for the future we all worked for to become real. Either way, the boy is just a pawn to us. But even so, the darkness in his heart is genuine. Even if he is not aware of it, that darkness is also the real Dex.

Back at the duel, Dex and Alicia keep staring each other down as Neo watches with concern [Alicia LP = 1000] [Dex LP = 1000]. Dex has no cards on the field except for Machina Network [ATK 4000/DEF 1000 LV 10] while Alicia has no cards out.

Neo: Oh man…their life points may be equal, but Dex has that really tough monster out. It isn't affected by cards and it has so many attack points, so even battle won't work.

Sigma: Something isn't right here though. He was the one going on about how he was tired of not getting a chance to prove himself. Put look at his monster. Its entire premise is based around defense.

Alicia: Dex…you're finally succumbing to them and using their dark cards? Have you really fallen that far?

Dex: Yes…I have. But not by my own whim. You did this to me Alicia. You and Yusuke and all the others. The darkness in my heart comes from you. Turn end.

Alicia: Dex…I thought we were friends weren't we?! Friends are supposed to look out for and care for each other. That's all we tried to do. Tell me…what did we do to make you hate us?!

Dex: Friends are supposed to care for each other. Mother is always working, Axel and the others barely notice me. And you and Yusuke…you guys always want me tagging along. But we never speak alone, only in groups. No one cares about me for me. The only one who did was dad…and now he's gone. Nothing else matters now.

Alicia: Dex…you're wrong! They're the ones confusing you! You know we would never do anything to hurt you!

Dex: I'm not going to hear anything else. Continue the duel.

Alicia: Dex…fine! Draw. This is bad. He's completely lost it again. I need to get through to him somehow. If this duel goes on like this, one of us will be pulled into the darkness. Maybe I can try my gamble again…I set a monster. Turn end.

Sigma: If her monster is in defense mode, she won't take any damage. But even so, with only 1000 life points, all Dex needs to do is summon something with a little power and Alicia's done.

Neo: We need to hope. There has to at least be a small chance for her to come back.

Sigma: Always the optimist aren't you? Alright, we'll see. But you owe me a soda if you're wrong.

Dex: My turn. You're risking a lot on this one draw. Even my weakest monster can knock you out. Let's see if the darkness is right! I draw. …Damn it. You lucked out this time. I set a card on the field. Even if I can't deal damage, I can prove my power to you. Go, Net Cracker!

It shoots out wires and hits the monster, sending binary code flowing into it as it blows up.

Dex: Too bad. You held off damage this turn. But how long can you keep it up for? We'll see won't we? Turn end!

Alicia: Alright, looks like my turn again! A monster card! His card cannot be affected by Spells or Traps, but monster effects are fair game! I set a monster and end my turn. Now then, attack! My trap will trigger once you do.

Dex: Looks like my turn now. Draw! This card…the father said only to use it as a last resort. Well, now I know. Even if you attack me, I'll have a trap lying in wait. I set a card on the field. Machina Network attacks! Net Cracker!

Binary code shoots out and hits the monster, making it blow up. Before it does, a bomb begins to roll towards Network. Dex's eyes widen.

Alicia: Got you! Cunning Trickster of the Trick House, when flipped up, destroys one monster on the field.

Sigma: That's the stuff! Network can't block out monster effects!

Dex: Look at you…so happy over such an obvious move. Your moves are so crystal clear I can see right through them! Continuous Trap card, Blaring Signal. This cancels out all monster effects that trigger the equipped monster. I choose Machina Network as the target. Now no monsters can target him.

The bomb blows up as the monster is unaffected.

Alicia: No way! He anticipated my move!?

Dex: Come now Alicia, I'm not a moron. Your strategy is so simplistic anyone could see your aim. If you really wish to intimidate me, you'll need to try harder. Turn end.

Alicia: Damn it. He's as good as ever. He's predicted every last one of my moves. What to do…what to do?

Dex: Give up. You know I'm too strong now.

Alicia: Hmph. You've gotten a lot more boastful Dex. If you ask me, you've only changed in that fashion. Here goes, draw! I use Graceful Charity as well. Now I draw 3 and discard two. Spell card, Pot of Greed. This lets me draw 2 cards from my deck. Now I use the Spell card The Warrior Returning Alive. Now I can take one Warrior monster in the graveyard and return it to my hand.

Dex: Why bother? The monsters in your graveyard are weak. Not a single one of them can match me. So why?

Alicia: This is the reason why. I summon Silent Ninja of the Pond [ATK 800/DEF 600 LV 3]. This monster can wage a direct attack. Silent Kunai!

It draws the weapon and tosses it at Dex. He gasps in pain and steps back, coughing [Dex LP = 200].

Dex: It is no use. This wound isn't enough to damage me! Even if you can deal direct damage, I still have a powerful monster. This attempt does nothing for you, nothing!

Alicia: Heh. Ha ha ha!

Dex: What!? What is so funny?!

Alicia: You are! You always used to get so riled up when we dueled. I remember one time after we dueled you cried like a little baby!

Dex: I..I did not cry! I just had something caught in my eye! Stop talking like that!

Alicia: You see? You do have some memories after all. You can't throw away the Dex you used to be.

Dex: N-No! That Dex is already gone! I am the new Dex! Better get used to it now!

Alicia: No thanks. I'm sticking with the old Dex thank you very much. I end my turn.

Dex: Gah…now my head hurts. I'll show you to mock me like that! Draw! I summon Machina Buster [ATK 2500/DEF 100 LV 4]. Looks like this is the right amount of power I need. Time to beat you once and for all! I…

He begins to shake as he looks at his hand.

Dex: What? Why…why don't I want to do this? If I do this, they'll give dad back! So why…why can't I attack?!

Neo: What's going on with him?

Sigma: Could it be….he's fighting his inner darkness.

Alicia: Yes…yes! Please, try and fight it Dex! I know you wouldn't do any of these awful things! Fight it! Come back to us and be our friend again!

Dex: But…I…don't….want…to…be…your…FRIEND! I attack with both of my monsters! Rocket Rain, Net Cracker.

Alicia: Trap card, Soul's Release.

Dex: Useless! Spells and Traps don't affect Machina Network!

Alicia: That isn't my aim though! My Trap sacrifices Ninja and negates all damage this turn.

Attacks are blocked as the monster's soul leaves and blocks.

Dex: Damn it…I can't believe she baited me into a pointless attack. Stupid residual feelings…why won't they go away?

Alicia: Dex, just because you have feelings isn't a bad thing. It makes you even more human. You can't get rid of your humanity with dark power.

Dex: Maybe I can't…but at least it'll numb the pain. What point is there in being human? The feelings only hurt.

Alicia: Dex…why didn't you tell us you felt that way? We could have helped.

Dex: I was telling you! I was telling you all every single day, but you never saw the signs! You remained ignorant of my sorrow and suffering. If you were a real friend you would have noticed my suffering! Why…why didn't you help me!?

Neo: Three monsters…how can she hold off an assault like that?!

Sigma: Damn. This guy is really trying to destroy her.

Dex: I need to end this now…I can't keep going like this. Battle! Finish her off once and for all my monsters! Network attacks first. Net Cracker!

It shoots out binary code and blows up the monster. Alicia watches as Dex's eyes widen and a group of monsters protect Alicia.

Dex: What?! But Network negates any effect against it! There's no way you can affect him!

Alicia: So why would I try? When The Unhappy Maiden is destroyed, the Battle Phase ends right there. You wasted an attack.

Dex: Damn it…I can't believe you tricked me like that! Damn! Can't lose, can't lose!

Alicia: Dex, what is going on with you?! Dueling always used to be fun for you. Dueling was fun for all of us. Why are you so obsessed with winning now?

Dex: Don't you see? I want to be strong. I want to stand by you guys. But I always keep losing when things really matter! How can I be strong if I'm always losing!? They promised me the power to always win, no matter what.

Alicia: Dex…you really are an idiot now! What good is power and always being able to win if you can only help yourself? Look at Yusuke and Axel. They're always helping people and they've lost. Strength isn't about whether or not you win; it is about dealing with life and all its hardships. That's why I always respected you Dex! Even in the face of danger you always used to smile and just move forward. That Dex was never scared of anything. Are you really going to tell me that Dex was just a fabrication?!

Neo: Listen to her Dex! I'm not human so I don't understand as well, but you can't just hide away what makes you human!

Sigma: Even we're human enough to know something along those lines.

Dex: Stop…stop acting like you care. I know you don't…

Alicia: We do Dex. And you know we care. I understand you're upset about your dad, but that's no reason to fall into despair. The Dex I know is too strong for that!

Dex: Shut up…everyone just shut up! I need time to think…I can't think when everyone is talking all at once!

Vergil opens his eyes and sighs.

Vergil: It's broken eh? I should have though as much. I had put a limiter on his darkness, but now I see his darkness won't hold him forever. I'll release it now.

He snaps his fingers. Dex's eyes turn all black and he screams in pain as darkness pours from him. Yusuke looks down at his Fate Crystal as it glows with Alicia's and Dex's.

Yusuke: What's with this thing? My friends…what's wrong?

Neo: What's happening?!

Alicia: Dex! Dex!

Dex: Alicia…finish me...now. Or else…I'll…destroy you!

Alicia: Dex…fine, I'll free you! There's no need to worry. I draw. I use Spell Books From the Pot. Now we each get to draw 3 cards. From my hand, I then use Premature Burial. I pay 800 life points and revive one monster [Alicia LP = 200]. Come on back, Warrior Princess Erica [ATK 2500/DEF 2000 LV 7]. I equip her with Fighting Spirit. Now for each monster you control, she gains 300 attack points. I count for 900 [ATK 3400/DEF 2000 LV 7].

Dex: Yes, finish me! I know you don't care for me! You don't care for anyone except Yusuke! Admit it!

Alicia: You're wrong. Every single person I know is my friend. I care about them all. But I know I can't get too close to them. If I do, I'll never be able to tear myself away. And that's one more thing I always respected about you Dex. You never got too close to people. You were always able to be yourself. But now….how can you even look at yourself in a mirror?!

Dex: Shut up! Shut up shut up shut up!

Alicia: Fine, this is the only way I can speak to you now. I attack Machina Gearframe. Put an end to this battle.

Dex: Just as planned! Spell card, Limiter Removal! This doubles the power of my Machine monsters. [ATK 3600/DEF 0 LV 4] [ATK 5000/DEF 100 LV 4] [ATK 8000/DEF 0 LV 10].

Neo: No! The blowback damage is 200! That's enough to end here.

Dex: I did warn you about this. Now you're finished! How does that make you feel, knowing you failed?!

Alicia: Well…it doesn't feel good. But that's life. Good job Dex. Looks like you win the duel. I feel bad about losing here….but if this is what you want Dex, then so be it. Friends do that for each other.

Dex: You…aren't upset? You're willing to lose…just to make me happy? Why?!

Alicia: Isn't it obvious? It's because we're friends. You know that buddy. Any time you need us, just find us and that will suffice.

Dex: But…but…no! Don't throw away your life like that! Trap, Ring of Destruction. Now I destroy Machina Gearframe and deal its attack points as damage to both players.

Gearframe blows up. Both players are blasted back as the holograms vanish [Alicia LP = 0] [Dex LP = 0]. Both fall to their knees.

Alicia: Dex…is that you this time?

Dex: Yes…it's me. I'm so sorry Alicia. I…I couldn't control myself. I just had all these murderous impulses and…and…

Alicia: Hey, don't worry. The duel ended in a tie. Things should be okay now right?

Dex: Yes….they should.

His eyes glow once more as all the darkness swirls around him. Alicia's eyes widen in shock as Dex smiles.

Dex: In a tie, both souls are usually sucked into the Underworld. But I'm in control of this Shadow Game. There's no shame in both of us being taken. So I'll be the sole sacrifice.

Alicia: Dex, don't do it! We just got you back; don't make us lose you again!

Dex: I was such a fool. I let my own jealousy and anger take control of me. I know we're friends Alicia. This is what friends do for each other. Give this message to Yusuke…stop Vergil at all costs!

He is pulled inside a door. Alicia looks on in horror, but stands and wipes her eyes.

Neo: So in the end his humanity did shine through.

Alicia: He did…yeah. Come on, let's keep going. We need to make sure Yusuke gets that message. It is the only way we will defeat Vergil and the others. That's what friends do.

She walks off smiling.

Sigma: Humans sure are interesting…aren't they?

Neo: They sure are….

He smiles and follows her down a staircase.

Episode 155: Combine, Machina Network

In the streets, robed figures are marching. Inside of a house, Yusuke's father looks out the window and frowns.

Yusuke's dad: There's a whole army out there.

Yusuke's mother: I thought I sensed some distortions in the dark power. These Brotherhood guys must be making their move.

Yusuke's dad: I see. What are we supposed to do then?

Yusuke's mother: Our son is out there fighting to save us all. We can't let our boy fight by himself right?

Yusuke's dad: True enough. Alright honey, let's go.

Opening

In a dark room, Dex sits looking at a mirror. He keeps staring when a hooded figure walks in.

Dex: Rooster…it's time?

Rooster: The father told us to be prepared to battle. Are you going to be ready?

Dex: Sort of pointless asking isn't it? They'll be coming either way. I'll have to fight even if I don't want to.

Rooster: You mean to say you don't? Those words can be seen as treasonous.

Dex: I didn't mean it like that. I want to fight because I have to. The father promised us our wishes would all come true. I've come so far I can't turn back now.

Rooster: Yes…me too. I just came to make sure. Good luck against whoever you face.

Dex: Same to you with your opponent.

Rooster walks out as Dex stands up, walking out as well. In a hallway, Alicia and Neo are walking.

Neo: Hey, are you sure we're going the right way?

Sigma: There's only one path kid. We can't really go in any other direction.

Neo: Well we could have turned around. We might have met up with the others.

Alicia: That wouldn't do us any good. They obviously would have set things up so it would be more difficult to meet up again. Their goal must be to pick us off alone, one by one.

Neo: Come on, you really think they have enough power to do that?

Alicia: Considering what they're doing. I'd say it is within their potential.

Neo: Yeah. You think the others are okay?

Alicia: I'm sure they will be. Yusuke is so tough that a whole army of people couldn't keep him down.

Neo: You sure care about Yusuke don't you?

Alicia: Of course I do. He is my friend.

Neo: But is that really all there is to it? Are you sure you don't think of him as more than that? You know, just asking! I'm not implying…!

Alicia: Dex…you're still with them!?

Dex: I have my objectives to fulfill. Until I do, staying with them is the best strategy.

Alicia: You can't be serious! Don't you know what they're planning?! These guys want to destroy the entire world!

Dex: I am well aware of what they are planning…what WE are planning. But it doesn't matter if I don't agree with them. The plan has already moved to the final phase. Soon the Yomishin will be free and the world will be swallowed up in darkness. To make sure that happens, I'll do whatever it takes.

Alicia: What?! What can you earn from them that you can't get from us?!

Dex: It's too tough to explain. It benefits me in every way to join them. So I will.

Alicia: Dex…I thought I got through to you the last time we fought. It looks like you're still acting like a gigantic idiot. Fine then. Come over here and I'll beat some sense into you!

Neo: Alicia, hold on. Don't you think…

He runs off as Dex and Alicia both activate their Duel Disks and draw 5 cards.

Both: Duel! [Dex LP = 4000] [Alicia LP = 4000]

Dex: I'll go first. Here I go, draw. I set one monster in face down defense mode. I also place two cards face down and end my turn. I'm so sorry about this Alicia…but I have to keep going. This is the only way I can get dad back…

Alicia: Here I go, draw! Dex wouldn't set monsters on his field for no good reason. After all, he always plans his moves down to the last meticulous detail. That's just the kind of kid that he is. I can't lose here. I need to keep going. I summon Power Crusher of the Hammer [ATK 2200/DEF 0 LV 4]. I can't afford to go slowly. I've got to go right ahead and strike head on. Get him!

Dex: Fool. Trap card, Sakuretsu Armor. This destroys an attacking monster.

Armor surrounds Crusher and blows up, destroying it.

Alicia: Damn, he did have a Trap. But now you won't be able to use it later. Getting rid of cards like that early makes the rest of the duel easier. I set a card and end my turn.

Neo: Alicia…be careful. Don't go easy on him just because you're his friend.

Dex: So, you want to end this battle as soon as possible? Me as well…I wish I didn't have to fight you or Yusuke.

Alicia: So don't! It's never too late to come back to us!

Dex: I can't…this path is the only one left for me. I don't belong with you guys. Even if it means hurting you, I'll make my ambitions come true! I draw. I Flip Summon Machina Sniper [ATK 1800/DEF 800 LV 4]. I knew you would attack me. So I set a strong monster to set up a Trap. You fell for it Alicia. That was very foolish of you.

Alicia: Yeah, it was. But you always used to get me with moves like that. You always played elaborate combos like that to catch me off guard.

Dex: …That's in the past though. The past doesn't matter to me. I've joined them to throw away the past.

Alicia: You really think throwing away the past is going to change you Dex? What's so wrong about the past?!

Dex: You don't understand. I've never had an easy life. All I had to look forward to in life is my dad and now he's gone. I summon Machina Soldier [ATK 1600/DEF 1500 LV 4]. Now I use the Spell card Double Summon. This lets me summon one Machine monster from my hand. Come on Machina Defender [ATK 1200/DEF 1800 LV 4].

The three monsters charge into a barrier and bounce back. Dex narrows his eyes and snarls.

Dex: Darn it. You knew I would gather a bunch of monsters. Too bad for you. I've got way more monsters than these three. Turn end.

Alicia: Looks like my turn again. Here goes, draw. What am I going to do? He already has ¾ of the materials he needs to summon Machina Force. If he gets that thing out so soon he'll crush me. I have no choice other than to smash him before that. I summon Strong Holder of the Gauntlet [ATK 1700/DEF 1200 LV 4]. Smash Machina Defender! Gauntlet Punch.

It runs ahead and punches the monster towards the ground, smashing it. Dex steps back to avoid the smoke [Dex LP = 3500].

Dex: Trap card, Rope of Life. I discard my entire hand and revive the monster with 800 more attack points [ATK 2000/DEF 1800 LV 4].

Alicia: Wait, so his goal wasn't to summon Machina Force, but instead to make his monster even tougher?! Darn it!

Dex: You've always been so easy to entice into attacking. At the rate things are going, you really aren't go to last much longer.

Alicia: Just you watch! I'll turn things around for sure. I've beaten you before. I set a card and end my turn.

Dex: You may have beaten me before. That was also before I obtained the dark power. Draw! I release Machina Sniper and Machina Soldier to summon Machina Fortress [ATK 2500/DEF 1600 LV 7]. Destroy her Strong Holder of the Gauntlet Machina Defender. Machina Fist!

Neo: With two strong monsters he'll be able to deal heavy damage.

Alicia: Trap card, Kunai with Chain. This changes your monster to defense mode and gives my monster more power.

A chain wraps around it and plows it into the ground [ATK 2000/DEF 1800 LV 4] while Holder grabs the weapon [ATK 2200/DEF 1200 LV 4].

Dex: I was better keeping my weaker monsters eh? No problem! Machina Fortress attacks now.

It points the cannon and fires, blowing up the monster. Alicia is almost blown away [Alicia LP = 3700].

Neo: Hey!

Alicia: That was a real blow…hold on, don't tell me!

Dex: The Shadow Game was already begun. Will you be able to fight under these conditions? Turn end.

Neo: A Shadow Game has started? He's willing to wager both of their souls on this duel?!

Alicia: Dex…fine. I'll fight you under those conditions and still win. I draw! I set a monster in defense mode. I also set a card and end my turn.

Dex: Playing defense won't save you. All it will do is delay inevitable defeat! I draw. I use Machina Exchange. I destroy Machina Fortress. Now I draw 2 cards.

Alicia: What? Why get rid of his powerful monster? Unless…raw power isn't what he's aiming for?

Dex: I use the Spell card Graceful Charity. This lets me draw 3 cards and discard 2. I set a card. Then I change Machina Defender to attack mode [ATK 2000/DEF 1800 LV 4]. Battle! I attack your set monster with Machina Defender. Machina Punch!

The monster punches the set monster, only for it to block the initial attack.

Alicia: My set monster is Armored Guardian of the Treasure [ATK 0/DEF 2000 LV 4]. It has enough defense power to hold back your attack.

Dex: Yes, it sure seems that way doesn't it? How deluded you are…turn end!

Sigma: This kid is acting pretty overconfident. You getting the same feeling I am?

Neo: I'm getting the same feeling all right. He has some sort of alternate plan in motion. What cards does he have in his graveyard?

He draws his Duel Disk and checks a screen. His eyes widen.

Neo: With these cards…is he…?!

Alicia: Here goes, draw. These'll do fine! I equip my monster with Grade Sword. [ATK 300/DEF 2000 LV 4]. Now my releasing this monster, she counts as two Release.

Dex: Two Release? …I see.

Alicia: I release my Guardian as two Release monsters and summon Warrior Princess Erica [ATK 2500/DEF 2000 LV 7].

Neo: Yes! Look at all of its attack points!

Dex: I see. No big deal.

Alicia: A weak monster can't stand in the same room as a princess. Your weaker monsters all return to your hands.

Sigma: Now she can attack directly!

Dex: Trap card, Machina Bomb. Now the original attack points of my monster are dealt as damage.

Alicia's eyes widen as a bomb goes off below her. She screams in pain and falls to her knees [Alicia LP = 2500]. Dex only watches with cold eyes.

Neo: Alicia…hey, are you really okay with this?! You're hurting your friend! Don't you care at all!?

Dex: No…I don't. This is the only way I'll be strong.

Neo: By hurting your friend?! How does that prove strength?!

Dex: They've been holding me back for years, making me unable to reach my full potential. This is the only option I have left.

Alicia: Dex…what do you mean? You hate us that much now? The past really means nothing to you, nothing at all?

Dex: No…it doesn't.

Alicia: ..I see. I'm glad I didn't tell Yusuke about you. Because if he saw you now he'd be sick!

Dex: …Are you done? Your words don't mean anything to me. Continue the duel.

Alicia: Fine! If our friendship means that little to you I need to treat you as an enemy! Erica, attack him directly!

She rushes forward with the blade and slashes Dex across the chest. He coughs blood in shock and falls to his knees, gasping [Dex LP = 1000].

Alicia: No…oh no! Dex, are you okay?!

Dex: …You…see now? Even now you won't take me seriously. I've never been a legitimate threat to you, or a real friend. And that…is why I hate you! It is why I have always hated you, and Yusuke, and Axel, and even my own dad!

Alicia: Dex, please listen! It isn't like that at all…!

Dex: Stop lying! I've had enough of your lies!

Alicia: Dex…I set a card. Turn end.

Dex: My turn. Nice job destroying my monster. And now, all the pieces are in place for a big win. I use Foolish Burial. I send one monster to my graveyard from my deck. I choose my Machina Force.

Alicia: What? Such a tough monster too? Why?

Neo: This combo…no! That last card in his hand!

Dex: Spell card, Recycle Fusion! I remove from play monsters in the graveyard from play and fuse them together. I fuse Machina Force, Machina Cannon, and Machina Fortress. Combine into the ultimate machine of destruction. Show yourself, my Card of Darkness!

Alicia: A Card of Darkness?!

The three combine into a machine as wires spread out from the body.

Dex: Combine, Machina Network [ATK 4000/DEF 1000 LV 10].

Alicia: Machina Network? It doesn't seem as bad as Machina Centaur. In fact, this one is weaker.

Dex: Machina Network has a power! One that you see soon enough. I summon Machina Defender once again [ATK 1200/DEF 1800 LV 4]. Machina Network attacks Warrior Princess Erica.

Alicia: Trap card, Mirror Force! This blocks your attack and instead destroys all of your monsters.

The attack hits and bounces back, hitting Dex's field and causing an explosion.

Alicia: I got it?

Dex: Machina Network negates any card effect that triggers against it. Machina Network isn't destroyed.

Neo: A monster not affected by cards?!

Dex: Attack. Net Cracker.

Binary code forms into a laser and fires, destroying the monster. Alicia gasps in pain and is almost blown away [Alicia LP = 1000].

Dex: I've gathered the ultimate shield. No matter what you summon against me, my monster will repel you at each and every turn.

Alicia: It will…eh? That doesn't me to me Dex. You can hide behind any shield that you wish. But I'll shatter each and every shield you set up and get to the real you! I promise you that Dex!

Dex: See if you can. I've let the darkness out to become stronger. I've buried the real me forever.

Alicia: I'll get him out, just you wait! Come on, I still need to smack some sense into you!

He plugs in a laptop and sits there as a bar slowly loads.

Baron: Ugh….ugh…AH! It's too damn slow!

Episode 154: The Last Yomishin- Beelzebub!

In the city, buildings are being smashed through as robed figures continue to march. The Secret Underground Movement is being pushed back as the waiter is gasping.

Waiter: This isn't good…Secret Underground Movement, don't stop! We can't stop here, we have to keep going! Come on then, let's go! Don't give up, keep fighting! If we fall here there is hope for the world!

His monster is destroyed as he falls back. He looks up and sees figures coming towards him.

Figure: This is the end for you boy. For the father we fight on!

Waiter looks down and cries out as the monster roars. It charges up a beam when another attack fires and blocks.

Waiter: Huh?!

???: So, you're the Secret Underground Movement? I owe you a debt of gratitude for finding my son and keeping my daughter safe. Let me help you take care of this group of pests.

Tamika's dad stands there and glares ahead.

Opening

In the middle of a rainy dirt road, an old man sits there staring at the dirt. He doesn't react when two cloaked figures walk up.

Rasputin: A penny for food please.

Dante: Don't have any money, sorry pal. But we do have something to offer you.

Rasputin: Something to offer me? Forgive me, but if it is not food or money I do not care. That is what I need most right now.

Vergil: Wrong. That is not what you need most. What you need most is to come with us.

Rasputin: Go…with you?

Vergil: Allow us to introduce ourselves. This is Dante Alighieri. My name is Vergilius Publius Maro. May we ask who you are?

Rasputin: …Rasputin Grigori. Why does it matter?

Dante: This is a waste of time Vergil. He doesn't want to come with us. Besides, we've got us 2. Isn't that enough?

Vergil walks up to Rasputin and kneels in front of him. He watches as he holds out a hand and touches the bandages around his arm. Rasputin's eyes widen and he reels back as Vergil tears the cloth, exposing his arm. Rasputin turns away, hiding it.

Vergil: I see…that arm is useless to you.

Rasputin: Fine. Go ahead and make fun of me why don't you? Make fun of the freak with the demented arm.

Vergil: That is no need to act. I can understand the feelings in your heart. Rejected by society just for being the way you were born. Isolated and unknown you stand in the shadows of the world. But this is your time Rasputin. You will be able to get revenge on the world. We can give you that power. Join us Rasputin, and become our sheep. Join us, and guide this world to a future where everyone can live in happiness. A world steeped in the darkness.

He holds out his hand as Dante stands there watching. The flashback ends as Rasputin stands there [Rasputin LP = 2400] [Tamika LP = 1750]. Tamika has no cards on the field while Rasputin has only Sorcerer of Dark Magic [ATK 3200/DEF 2900 LV 9]

Chimera: Hm? He's been silent for a while now.

Tamika: Hey old guy, are you okay? You didn't die on your feet right?

Rasputin: …Sorry. I was caught up in memories of the past. It was the day I made my vow and joined the Crossed Brotherhood. I will not let it happen again. Come now, let's finish the duel.

Tamika: My thoughts exactly! Here I go, draw! That monster on his field…is it his Card of Darkness? He is one of the higher ups…surely he must have a better card. Hold on, Vergil and that Faust guy each had one of those Yomishin monsters. Could it be that he…?

Rasputin: You appear to be deep in thought. May I guess what is bothering you? You want to know if I have a Yomishin don't you?

Tamika: Damn, you knew?

Rasputin: Let me take a load off your mind by answer. Yes…I do have a Yomishin card.

Chimera: A Yomishin!? No way….he has one of those monstrous cards?

Tamika: A Yomishin card eh? Well, this has just gotten a lot more interesting.

Rasputin: Even in the face of such danger you stand steadfast? Interesting…let's continue then.

Tamika: Here goes, I draw! I summon my Fire Princess in defense mode [ATK 1300/DEF 1500 LV 4]. I set a card and end my turn.

Rasputin: Oh? So that is what you are going to fight with now. Sorry, but you'll need to try a little harder than that. My turn, draw. I set one monster. There is no point though really. After all, all you can do is struggle and dance like a fool. I attack Fire Princess!

It glares and fires magic, blowing up the monster. Tamika glares ahead and grins.

Tamika: Too bad. I use Half- Shut on my monster. This prevents it from being destroyed in battle at the cost of half its power. [ATK 650/DEF 1500 LV 4].

Rasputin: Protected your miserable monster eh? Interesting. I can see that you care for your monsters deeply. But…do you feel loyal to them?

Tamika: Wha…? What are you going on about!?

Rasputin: It is one thing to help each other out, but do you feel loyalty towards your monsters? Would you be willing to do anything for them, even die?

Tamika: Listen up guy; I have no idea what you're talking about. My monsters help me out and I help them. That's all there is to it. Loyalty? Come on!

Rasputin: So you are not then…I'm disappointed. I believed you to be more rational than that. Oh well. Looks like today I'll be disappointed. That's all there is to it. I end my turn with that.

Tamika: My turn, draw! Let's see, what can I use, what can I use? Ah, I know! I release my Fire Princess and set one monster. That ends my turn.

Rasputin: What is this? You played another monster in defense at the cost of another? I see…that makes my theory fact. You do not care for that monster at all. So you do not show loyalty towards your monsters. Against a cruel and heartless person like you, it is impossible for me to lose. Here I go, draw! Monsters, help me win this duel. Let us show her real loyalty! I summon Doomcaliber Knight [ATK 1900/DEF 1800 LV 4]. Attack her set monster.

Knight charges forward and hits the monster. The card flips over and repels the attack [ATK 2000/DEF 1900 LV 5].

Tamika: Bone Gardna negates his destruction in battle. Sorry, but your attacks are meaningless.

Rasputin: Hm…yes, it would appear that you are correct. However, this does not deter me. Your struggle will end in defeat. This is unavoidable. You are merely deluding yourself. Turn end.

Tamika: Back to me, draw! When Bone Gardna is up on my field, I draw an extra card once per turn. Now I summon the Tuner monster Burning Skull Batter [ATK 900/DEF 1200 LV 2]. I tune my level 2 Burning Skull Battery and level 5 Bone Gardna.

Batter becomes 2 rings that Gardna flies through, becoming 5 stars [2 + 5 = 7]

Tamika: The kindling of the heart and soul sparks a warrior who embodies bravery and justice! Synchro Summon! Begin the war, Lava Conquistador [ATK 2600/DEF 700 LV 7]. When Battery is used for Synchro material, the monster gains a boost in power [ATK 2600/DEF700 LV 7] until the End Phase of this turn. From my hand, I equip Acts of Valor. Now my monster gains the ability to attack twice this turn at the cost of his ability to deal Battle Damage.

Rasputin: Hm? But that means…!

Tamika: Double attack! Destroy Doomcaliber Knight and Sorcerer of Dark Magic!

It flies ahead, separating its sword and chopping twice, destroying both monsters.

Tamika: You may be protected from Battle Damage, but you take 500 points of damage for each destroyed monster, 1000 points of damage in total.

It appears in front of Rasputin. His eyes widen in horror as he steps back, getting knocked back by the fire [Rasputin LP = 1400]. He falls to his knees gasping in pain as the fire burns around him.

Tamika: Final warning old man. Don't make me wipe you out.

Rasputin: Annoying….little brat. If you think this pitiful amount of damage will stop my loyalty…you are misguided!

Tamika: Hmph. Shut up old man. You're starting to annoy me. Let's get one thing straight, I'm going to win this duel. If you have a problem with that, go ahead and surrender. Turn end!

Rasputin: I see…it appears I need to teach you a lesson. Very well then. Allow me to show you my true power. I draw. …Well, how regretful. It would appear as though my deck does not want you to win. So be it. Consider yourself lucky though. You are going to see something very unique. I flip my Giant Germ into attack mode [ATK 1000/DEF 100 LV 2]. Battle!

Tamika: Huh?!

Germ flies forward as Conquistador cleaves it in half. Rasputin just stands [Rasputin LP = 900].

Chimera: Why…would he do that? It was a suicide attack.

Rasputin: You take 500 points of damage since Germ was destroyed [Tamika LP = 1250] and two more are summoned [ATK 1000/DEF 100 LV 2 x2]. Trap card, Limit Reverse. Now a monster with 1000 points is revived [ATK 1000/DEF 100 LV 2].

Tamika: Wow, a bunch of weak little monsters. You're really intimidating me here.

Rasputin: Yes, be as sarcastic as you want. Too bad I'll have to disappoint you. I use the Spell card Creeping Night. This lets me summon a DARK monster from my hand.

Tamika: Hold on….3 DARK monsters?!

Rasputin: Heh heh heh….I release 3 DARK monsters. From my hand, this monster can be summoned. I release you from the Underworld avatar of darkness. Rise and guide this world towards the eternal night! Show yourself, Yomishin Beelzebub!

A dark light shines as a set of doors appears. Something bangs on the door and tears it off its hinges as a pale insect monster steps out. Tamika swallows and steps back as the monster hisses, towering over the field, smashing the walls and ceiling of the room [ATK 3500/DEF 2500 LV 11].

Tamika: Whoa…a Yomishin in the flesh. So this is what those freaks are trying to free!

Rasputin: And don't forget it is still my Battle Phase. Beelzebub attacks your monster. Slash of the End

Tamika: Huh?

The monster hisses and snaps with its claw. The opposing monster is chopped in two.

Tamika: What?! But my monster was stronger!

Rasputin: Like a bone full of calcium, my Beelzebub is as solid as rock. Your attacks cannot even crack it. Beelzebub has the monster to destroy any monster he battles without dealing damage. And then your monster's level is multiplied by 100 and dealt as damage. That's 700. Stream of Pestilence!

Beelzebub's eyes glow and it hisses, spitting out bone fragments at Tamika. She is battered by the splinters and gasps in pain, stepping back and falling to her knees [Tamika LP = 550].

Chimera: Tamika! Stop it please!

Rasputin: I am truly regretful. The pain is probably agony, no, beyond agony. If you still want to surrender, you may. Surely even you understand the hopelessness of the situation.

Tamika: Stuff…it. Come on, continue the duel! You think a big bug is going to make me quit?! Ha! Summon something that's actually tough, how about that!?

Rasputin: You…in when facing such a monster, you maintain your attitude. I like you kid. In a different place and in a different time…who knows? We might actually have been friends. But this is the path destiny has taken. Even the Fates cannot alter the path the world is heading down. In the end, the only option left for you is to give up. Turn end!

Tamika: My…turn! Ngh!

She grips her arm as more blood drips down. Chimera's eyes widen.

Chimera: Tamika!

Tamika: I'm…fine. I've had workouts more intense than this! Spell card, Pot of Greed. This lets me draw 2 cards from my deck. With these cards…but even then will it be enough? Damn it! I'm trying to stay tough…but what if I can't do this? Everyone…I let you down…

Axel: Come on, is that the best you can do!?

Tamika's eyes widen as she recalls herself lying in the street. Axel is standing over her.

Axel: Come ON! You can do better than that! I've beaten you three times already!

Tamika: Shut up! You're the one insisting on this insane training method. Fighting again and again isn't going to make you better moron!

Axel: Hey, I know that! I'm not trying to get better though. Face it; we're pretty much as strong as we're going to be.

Tamika: So why bother training then?

Axel: Isn't it clear? You've beaten me once already. It's to show that even if you lose 100 times, that one win is all that matters! Remember, even if things look black, keep fighting and you'll win. Doubt yourself and you'll be doomed to lose again and again!

Tamika grins and stands up after her flashback.

Tamika: Of course…that idiot would say something like that.

Rasputin: Hm?

Rasputin: Your bravado is meaningless. Against my Yomishin, your defense is nothing but dust. Let me show you the meaning of power! I draw. I've wasted enough time on this match. I'll end it now! I summon Sorcerer of the Doomed [ATK 1450/DEF 1200 LV 4]. Yomishin Beelzebub attacks your monster! Slash of the End!

It lifts its claws and drives it into the set monster, snapping it in two [Skull Conductor].

Rasputin: And now his effect! Stream of Pestilence!

More bone fragments shoot out as Tamika is buffeted, almost falling over completely. She struggles to stay on her feet panting [Tamika LP = 150].

Chimera: No!

Rasputin: And now for the final ending! I attack with my Sorcerer. Magic Ball of Chaos!

Tamika: Trap card, Synchro Wall! I send a Synchro monster from the Extra Deck to the graveyard and negate this damage.

The ball hits a wall and vanishes.

Rasputin: …Why? For what reason are you still fighting for? Surely you understand there is no point to this battle. You are going to lose. There is no avoidable result besides defeat for you.

Tamika: Says you. There's no way I'm losing to an old man like you!

Rasputin: You still do not understand! My loyalty towards the father goes beyond anything you could understand!

Tamika: Loyalty eh? Tell me something old man! Why do you follow Vergil?

Rasputin: I follow him because he will guide us to a new tomorrow! No longer will we live in sorrow and darkness. He pulled me into the dark and showed me a way to live. Without him, I wouldn't even be here today. I owe him everything, including my life. And that is why I fight for him!

Tamika: And I'm telling you that's a dumb reason! If you just follow someone blindly without truly caring for them…then that isn't loyalty, it's blind allegiance! Me…I…

She recalls Axel.

Tamika: Have someone I care for. Someone I am willing to travel to hell and back with him. Someone I am loyal to. That man…is the man I love!

Rasputin: You…

Tamika: I draw! Spell card, Level Switch. I remove a level 8 or higher monster from play and draw 2 [Skull Flame]. Now I summon Synchro Advocator [ATK 1300/DEF 1000 LV 4]. I release this monster and revive one Synchro monster! Come on back, Skull Flame Dragon [ATK 3000/DEF 1500 LV 8].

Rasputin: Your best monster…no…NO! My loyalty will not be stopped here! Quick- Play Spell, Vanish! I can remove one monster on my field from play. I will remove Sorcerer of the Doomed! Ha ha ha! Now the only thing you can do is battle Beelzebub! And once you do, your life will end! My loyalty will shine alone at the end!

Tamika: And I'm telling you, you only know false loyalty! Real loyalty is knowing the person more than they know themselves! I understand that…and I'll show you! I attack! Dead Fire Blast!

Chimera: But you can't win like that!

The fire hits Beelzebub. It hisses and charges through the flames towards Dragon.

Rasputin: 500 plus 800…I win!

Tamika: Spell card, Kinetic Energy Conversion!

Rasputin: I…what?!

The fire shoots by, cracking Beelzebub. It hisses in agony as it shatters, sending darkness all over. Rasputin's eyes widen as the fire hits him. He screams in pain as he flies back [Rasputin LP = 0]. Vergil's eyes open and he looks down.

Rasputin: Master…I'm sorry I failed you! Take my power, all of it! Even in death, my loyalty will…my loyalty will…

He is blasted through a set of open doors as they slam shut, snapping his staff. Tamika pants and falls to her knees as Chimera grabs her.

Chimera: Hey, pull yourself together!

Tamika: Ugh…sorry. I'm fine. Come on, we need to keep going. That idiot's already won his duel probably. Can't wait to gloat about how I beat a Yomishin.

She stands up and walks off smiling. Chimera watches her for a minute and smiles.

Chimera: I will allow it. Axel Seshia…take care of my sister.

He follows her as the splinters from Rasputin's staff blow away.

He laughs and summons a Dark Blade the Dragon Knight. Someone falls down as the monster gets closer, only for a Stone Statue of the Aztecs to fly in the way.

???: Trap card, D2 Shield!

The attack bounces back, sending the robed figure flying back through a door. The other figures look in shock as many people stand.

Waiter: Keep it going…keep fighting until Tamika and Chimera return to the front lines. Secret Underground Movement, move out!

Opening

Vergil sits in front of the Inferno watching it. Someone walks up from behind him and he sighs.

Vergil: Rasputin…

Rasputin: Forgive me my lord. They will be reaching my room soon. I wanted to know if there were any final tasks you needed complete.

Vergil: No, no. The only task I need of you is to prepare yourself for battle. They will be arriving soon. We must be ready before they reach this floor. No matter what, we must not let them get to this point.

He suddenly gasps, covering his mouth and spasming. Rasputin hurries over as Vergil spits blood into his hand, coughing.

Rasputin: Master!

Vergil: I…I'm fine. Just accomplish the tasks at hand. Even my death is meaningless my now. Go now and fight to the bitter end.

Rasputin: Very well lord Vergil. If that is your wish, I shall carry it out.

He stands and walks off. Vergil eyes him as he leaves and closes them.

Vergil: Yes…soon even your life will be meaningless.

Rasputin: Let the fools come. I will guide them to death if they do so. This is the oath I swore on that day so long ago.

Tamika walks down a hallway with Chimera. Chimera walks in front as Tamika is silent.

Tamika: How long is this damn hallway anyway? Who designed this place anyway?

Chimera: They probably designed it like this in cases like this. Their enemies are practically left running around in a giant maze.

Tamika: I suppose so. They seem to want to pick us off one by one.

Chimera: Stop dodging the issue here.

Tamika: What is the issue?

Chimera: You know what it is. Before we entered the facility. I saw what you did Tamika.

Tamika: I…don't know what you mean. Be more specific.

Chimera: You kissed Axel Seshia.

Tamika stops as Chimera turns back.

Tamika: Well sorry to disappoint you. If you really want to fight, shouldn't I suffice?

Rasputin: I suppose there is no point in complaining. Any soul feeds the Yomishin, so any will do. There is no need to act picky.

Tamika: I was thinking the same thing myself. Bring it on old man!

Chimera: Tamika, hold on. Maybe I should handle this.

Dante: This pressure…Rasputin must be fighting. If Vergil's lapdog is heading into the battlefield, the Inferno must be nearing completion. Sorry guys…I wish I could help but I've got my own objective. Just stay alive long enough to keep the way towards Vergil clear.

He heads down the stairs as Rasputin begins to chuckle.

Rasputin: You are awfully brave for coming at me. Do you have even one shred of fear?

Tamika: Fear? Ha! Why should I be afraid of an old man?

Rasputin: Such spunk also. It reminds me of when I was young…but that was a long time ago. At the very least, I will introduce myself properly. My name is Rasputin Grigori, otherwise known as Sheep on the royal Zodiac. You?

Tamika: Come on, you know who I am. I don't need to introduce myself to you. I'm Skull, that's all you need to know.

Rasputin: Yes, no time to waste on idle chitchat. At the end of this day, only one side will stand. Let us determine which side is worthy of that award! Here I go, draw! When a monster with Burning Skull in its name is destroyed, one Burning Skull monster in my hand can be Special Summoned. From my hand, I'll summon Burning Skull Head [ATK 1000/DEF 800 LV 3]. When this card is summoned from my hand, he deals 1000 points of damage.

Rasputin: A fast paced Synchro Summon. As expected of someone like you.

It fires a burning ball that hits Hiita, making it blow up. Rasputin glares as smokes blows [Rasputin LP = 1150].

Rasputin: Trap card, Cycle of Souls. Now that a Spellcaster monster has been destroyed, its attack points are added to my life points [Rasputin LP = 3000].

Chimera: He healed himself of most of the damage he took!

Rasputin: Nice try…but I won't just lie down and die. Try as hard as you want, my solid loyalty will not be knocked away or smashed through.

Tamika: Are you going to talk for the entire length of the duel, because no offense old man, but it's starting to annoy me.

She looks down and sees a cut on her stomach.

It points the staff and fires, destroying the monster. Tamika cries in pain as the spell hits her and sends her flying back [Tamika LP = 2350]. She shakes as she stands up.

Rasputin: That ends my turn. Let's see how well you do know in a situation like this. Turn end.

Tamika: Hmph. Let me show you how well I fight. Draw! Heh, you wanted to see my best? Here you go! I flip summon my Flame Ruler [ATK 1500/DEF 1600 LV 4]. I release my Flame Ruler. When this monster is released for a FIRE monster, he counts as two monsters. So I can summon my Skull Flame with only one Tribute [ATK 2600/DEF 2000 LV 8]. Now for the Continuous Trap Fan the Flames. Rasputin: Too bad. I didn't want to unleash my darkness. I was hoping you would just surrender. But it looks like there are no options. The father expects me to wipe you out. I cannot delay things any longer. I draw! Trap card, Dark Renewal! This revives my destroyed Dark Magician [ATK 2500/DEF 2100 LV 7]. Trap card, Wicked Magic. When a Spellcaster monster is Special Summoned, I can summon a Dark Magic Token [ATK 2500/DEF 2100 LV 7]. However, this monster cannot be Tributed or used as Exceed material. That is not a problem. Rasputin: Sorcerer of Dark Magic negates your useless Trap.

Chimera: Tamika! Hold on, I'll…

Tamika: Stay…where you are. This is my duel. Don't interfere with me. I'm going to win.

Rasputin: You will not win child. As long as my loyalty towards Vergil remains, I will never allow myself to lose. Vergil found me and saved me from the vileness of the world and took me into the darkness.

He remembers a younger Rasputin with his arm bandaged watching as Vergil extends a hand to him. Rasputin clenches his good fist.

Rasputin: I owe him my life. You'd best surrender girl. Lest my undying loyalty crush you.

Tamika: I've got bad news for you. I've got people counting on me too. And if I let them down…I couldn't look them in the face! My loyalty is going to crush you old man!

Rasputin: Interesting…let us see who has the right amount of power. We'll see whose bonds are more solid.

Tamika holds her Disk like a blade as Dante continues to head down the stairs and Vergil watches the Inferno.

Episode 152: As a Baron, As a Brother

In Spain, Leonid steps back.

Man: I tune level 1 Darklon, level 2 Dark Tinker, and level 5 Endless Decay.

Tinker becomes 2 rings that Darklon and Decay fly through, becoming 6 stars [2 + 1 + 5 = 8].

Man: Synchro Summon! Crimson Mefist [ATK 2800/DEF 1300 LV 8]. Strike down Heroic Champion- Excalibur!

It spits blood over it and it blows up. Leonid steps back and gasps in pain [Leonid LP = 700].

Leonid: I can't go much longer. I'm sorry your highness…looks like I won't survive this battle.

Alphonse: I Overlay my level 8 Crimson Blader and Montage Dragon.

Both turn into lights and fly into a spiral.

Alphonse: Exceed Summon. Thunder- End Dragon [ATK 3000/DEF 2600 RANK 8]. Now I remove an Overlay Unit and destroy all monsters.

Lightning rains down from the sky and burns away all the monsters on the field. Leonid looks in shock as Alphonse walks up.

Alphonse: Never give up Leonid. After all, my son and daughter will be coming home for a warm dinner and a cozy place to sleep.

Leonid: …Of course your highness. As you wish.

Opening

In Spain to begins to snow.

Charlotte: Home was never a good place for me. Mother died in childbirth and I grew up only learning about her from everyone else. Father never showed me any kind words and the Conquistos only respected me for being the baron's son. Big brother, you were the only one to show me real kindness. Even though everyone else didn't like it, you played with me every day no matter what.

Baron: That's right, I remember. Those were the days weren't they? The summer days felt like they would go on forever.

The two play and laugh until Charlotte trips and falls into the water. Baron's eyes widen and he quickly runs in after her, pulling her out of the water. Rika and Ren run over as she coughs and they wrap her in a blanket.

Baron: That's right…you almost died that day. We only got you to a doctor just in time.

Charlotte: And even then father never visited me? Once again, you were the only one who came to visit every day for a visit. I was happy then, knowing we stood together against father. And then…

A younger Charlotte walks down a hallway rubbing her eyes. She hears voices and hides behind a wall as Baron is talking to Alphonse.

Alphonse: You went to visit her again today. That isn't good for you.

Baron: Shouldn't it be my choice to do what I please father? Just because you don't love her doesn't mean I have to hate her.

Alphonse: You are still a fool behind any meaning of the word. I do not despise the girl. But a baron must understand his priorities. You will become baron of this country one day. Charlotte is frail and fragile. She'll be a burden to you.

Baron: You're her father! How can you say such things about your own child!?

Alphonse: I say those things because those things are true. Surely you feel the same way? Come now, no one is perfect. Don't you have some dark feelings?

Baron: Here goes, draw! Charlotte, I can understand why you feel that way. But please, give me one more chance to explain. You are not unloved. I'll show you that fact. I summon Lycan de Oruga [ATK 1000/DEF 1000 LV 4]. During my turn, this monster can wage a direct attack.

It lunges and paws Charlotte. She gasps and steps back, glaring ahead [Charlotte LP = 1000].

Baron: If that's the only way to knock some sense into you Charlotte, then so be it. Think! Why wouldn't I care for you after all the time we spent together and all the things we did?

Charlotte: How should I know? All I need to know is that everyone you're doing is a trick. The past means nothing to me anymore. This is my future! A future that you are standing in the way of. Rika: What are you doing?! You're going to give her the pieces to victory!

It slashes and chops it in two as Baron watches.

Charlotte: Now you won't be able to attack me directly anymore. Turn end.

Baron: Back to me, draw! I Flip Summon Lycan Parent [ATK 1000/DEF 1200 LV 4]. I release this card when summoned, including by flips, and summon two Tokens [ATK 1000/DEF 1200 LV 4 x2]. Now I release both in order to Advance Summon Lycan Cabecilla- Fiero Diente [ATK 2500/DEF 1700 LV 8].

Baron opens his eyes as the monster roars and extends its body, ramming him into the wall, smashing the table on the way. He hits the wall hard and vomits blood, cracking the wall behind him. Charlotte watches with a grin but then gasps.

Charlotte: B…Brother?

Baron slumps and lies on his hands and knees, coughing blood and spits out a tooth.

Baron: Nice…you really got me [Baron LP = 1500].

Rika: Lord Baron, this is getting out of hand! This battle is too dangerous to continue! You'll die if this goes on!

Baron: That doesn't matter to me. I'll keep fighting…no matter the outcome. That's my obligation to you Charlotte…as your brother!

Charlotte: No…that doesn't matter to me anymore! I don't need a family that doesn't love me! I don't want any more of your fake compassion! I'll wipe it all away…and then I'll finally have a family…

Baron: Charlotte…I promise at the end of this duel you will. Here I go, draw! I use the Spell card Cannibalism. This lets me draw 2 cards. I then discard a monster card. I set a monster and end my turn.

Charlotte: Still trying to hide behind your puny monsters? Fine, die like a coward then! Here I go, draw! Soak Soldier! When this monster attacks, he destroys a monster in defense mode! Baron: Don't say things like that! You're strong Charlotte! Stronger than anyone I know. To deal with as much as you have…I'm jealous.

Charlotte: Big brother…stop Vergil please. And then come….save us.

Baron: No! I'm taking you home Charlotte! Come on, let's go together!

She smiles and cries as a door appears, chains wrapping around her.

Baron: No! You won't take her away again! I won't let you!

Rika watches in sorrow as he fights the chains only for Charlotte to be pulled inside the doors as they slam shut. He falls to his knees as it vanishes. Baron begins to tear up as he pounds the ground.

Rika: Lord Baron….come on, let's go. Charlotte's sacrifice will not be in vain.

Baron: You're damn straight it won't. Come on, get a move on. We're going to retrieve Charlotte. After all, I'll be baron of this country one day. If I can't save one little girl, how can I lead a country.

He turns and grins. Rika smiles and nods, following him. He looks down, but keeps walking ahead. In a dark place.

Vergil: Yes….struggle away duelists. Every duel…every fight…every drop of power feeds the Yomishin. Guide us Yomishin…guide us to the new world.

Episode 151: Laments of a Past Forgotten

In Spain, the doors hang in the sky, still being pounded on from the other side. Alphonse watches from his castle as robed figures storm towards the castle, blasting away duelists opposing them.

Leonid: Sir, they'll be here within minutes. We need to flee right away.

Alphonse: …Leonid, we're going.

Leonid: Sir?! You're not even thinking of stepping onto the battlefield are you?! If you fall, there is no hope! What matters to us doesn't matter, but you are the baron! Consider the consequences if something were to happen to you…

Alphonse: My son is bringing Charlotte home. And I want to make sure they have both a home cooked meal and a warm bed to sleep on. These blowhards…will not get in the way of that. Come Leonid. Will you help me or not?

Leonid: …Yes sir. Until the ends of the Earth.

Alphonse: Post haste then. Let's show them the true power of the Spanish empire.

Opening

In a room filled with toys, Charlotte sits and looks at a photo. She begins to tear up as she looks at a photo of her and Baron smiling. She wipes her away her tears and shakes, hugging herself.

Charlotte: You'll be coming soon big brother. Soon…I'll make you pay for stabbing me in the back. Just you wait and see.

In a dark room, Baron walks down the hallway with Rika following. She looks around at the empty blackness around them.

Baron: What's wrong Rika? Scared of the dark? Your eyes keep wandering.

Rika: Don't be ridiculous! I'm your bodyguards. I just need to make sure nothing is going to jump out at us.

Baron: If you insist. But I wouldn't worry. Clearly they were expecting us. That's why that Titan man was there and why they split us up. In fact…I think I know who's at the end of this hallway.

They emerge and find themselves in the room full of toys. They look around in surprise and see Charlotte standing there, pouring tea. She looks up and smiles.

Charlotte: You got here just in time! The tea party is about to begin! Come on, take your seats!

Rika: A tea party…no, it's some kind of trap! Lord Baron, we should…

Baron: Sure thing. I would kill for a warm cup of tea right now.

He walks over and sits down. Rika blinks in confusion, but sits down as well. Baron lifts his cup and sips as Rika looks around.

She and Charlotte both drink out of their cups. Charlotte smiles.

Charlotte: Just like back home right? We used to play like this all the time. You were never scared to play with dolls or tea sets.

Baron: Of course I wasn't. I was your brother right? It was only natural for me to play with you. Besides, nobody else would.

Charlotte: I remember. All the other servants used to let me win when we dueled and that was no fun. But you always gave it your best shot. I wish we could back to those days. Those warm summer days in the villa…

Baron: We still can Charlotte. I talked to father.

Charlotte looks up and drops her cup.

Baron: He's waiting for us back home. We can…Charlotte?

Charlotte: So…you've sided with father? You've stabbed me in the back once again?

Baron: Once again? Charlotte, what is this all about?

Charlotte: You really don't remember? You don't even recall the promise we made to each other a little? Brother…I hate you!

Rika: Lady Charlotte, you are out of line! Please, calm down for just one minute!

Rika: Lord Baron…

Baron: This is my duel Rika. Do not interfere. I promised our father I would bring Charlotte home in one piece. I intend to keep that promise.

Charlotte: I don't really care about Vergil and whatever he's planning. I just want to have a fun game with my big brother! What do you say?

Baron: Sure thing Charlotte! Let's see how tough you've gotten!

Both: Duel! [Charlotte LP = 4000] [Baron LP = 4000].

Baron: I'll start things off. Here I go, draw! I summon Lycan Feroz [ATK 2200/DEF 1000 LV 4]. Lycan monsters can usually only use their powers during my turn. However, this card cancels out such a thing. Field Spell, Mountain Under the Moon.

The battlefield changes to a mountain bathed in moonlight.

Charlotte: Ah. This Field Spell allows Lycan monsters to use their powers during my turn as well. You always prepare things for every possible situation. That's always the kind of man you've been.

Baron: Naturally. I don't like to leave myself open to attack. Let's see if knowing is enough for you though little sis. After all, you've never beaten me in a duel before today. I set two cards and end my turn.

Charlotte: I may not have beaten you before. But all that is about to change with this duel. Here I go, draw! I use my Field Spell!

Rika: When another Field Spell is activated, the current one is destroyed. She predicted Baron would play a Field Spell?

Charlotte: Come on, Enchanted Toy Box!

The mountain vanishes as they are trapped inside a giant toy chest with gigantic toys surrounding them. Baron looks around with an amused expression.

Baron: You've always loved toys Charlotte. Aren't you a little old for some of these though?

Charlotte: Age shouldn't matter as long as you have fun right? And I plan on having a lot of fun here! Since your Field Spell is gone, your Lycans lose all effects [ATK 1700/DEF 1000 LV 4] I use the power of Enchanted Toy Box. By paying 500 life points, we can Special Summon a Machine monster from our hands [Charlotte LP = 3500]. The monster I'll summon is Jack and Ball [ATK 1300/DEF 1700 LV 4].

Rika: Baron doesn't use Machine monsters though. She planned this out perfectly.

Baron: Nicely done. You really do know how my deck ticks.

Charlotte: We've dueled more times than I can count. If I didn't know the way you fight by now, there would be something wrong with me. That was just a Special Summon, so now I'll play Toy Magician [ATK 1600/DEF 1500 LV 4]. I Overlay my level 4 Jack and Ball and Toy Magician.

Both monsters turn into lights and fly into a spiral.

Charlotte: With these two monsters I construct the Overlay Network. Show yourself, Top Twister [ATK 2400/DEF 2000 RANK 4]. I remove one of its Overlay Units. [Unit = 1]. Now I can either destroy a Spell or Trap card, or give my monster the ability to deal Piercing damage. I'll choose to destroy a set card this time.

Baron: My Mirror Force….nicely done.

Charlotte: Battle! I attack your monster. Whirling Death!

It spins around in a circle and tears through the monster. Baron stands strong as he is almost blasted away [Baron LP = 3300].

Rika: It has only been one turn and he already took a heavy hit!

Charlotte: The person who deals the first blow always has the advantage later on in the duel. I've grown a lot stronger since the last time we battled big brother. I'll be able to keep up with you. I set a card and end my turn.

Baron: Here I go, draw! I didn't take her seriously. That was my first mistake. Just like when she dueled Ren, she's shown how much stronger she's become. I can't afford to go easy on her. But still…what will happen if I defeat her?

Baron: The darkness creeps, the stars fade, and the moon glows! Howl at the moon, growl at the light, feast on blood! Synchro Summon! Ole, Lycan Lider- Salvaje Mordedor [ATK 2600/DEF 1000 LV 6]. Battle! Attack Top Twister!

Charlotte: Are you even trying big brother? Trap card, Reinforced Space! Now an Exceed monster gains 300 points for each of its Overlay Units. My monster has one Overlay Unit [ATK 2700/DEF 2000 RANK 4]. Whirling Death!

It spins and tears through the charging monster. Baron watches in shock as the wind blows as a result [Baron LP = 3200].

Charlotte: This is pathetic big brother. By now, you would have had me down to 100 life points if this was a few years ago. If you aren't going to try, then just end the duel now. I don't want to win when you aren't even giving it 100%.

Baron: Don't accuse me of not giving it 100%. I was just taken a little off guard. I set a card and end my turn.

Charlotte: I can tell how hesitant you are. You don't want to hurt your little sister now do you? Too bad big brother, because I really want to hurt you!

Rika: Lady Charlotte…what has made you so vengeful?

Charlotte: I draw! I set a monster. I remove an Overlay Unit [Unit = 0] [ATK 2400/DEF 2000 RANK 4] and destroy one of your set cards. Then I shall attack! Whirling Death!

It spins around rapidly and flies towards Baron, only for a barrier to block the damage.

Charlotte: Huh?

Baron: You destroyed the Trap card Lost- Lorne Defenders, which I used before it was destroyed. When I have no monsters when this card is activated, all damage this turn is negated.

Charlotte: So now you're hiding behind your Trap cards? Why not? That's the way you've always been. Hiding behind things, unable to accept your mistakes or your issues. That all ends with this duel! Turn end.

Baron: Back to me then draw! I should have gone all out from the beginning. But I can't win against her. If I beat her, the darkness will claim her. Besides…I don't remember any promise I broke to her. I need to find out what I did wrong. Charlotte…I would never do anything to hurt you. Please, tell me what I did wrong so I can fix it! I set a monster. With that, I end my turn.

Charlotte: Are you hiding from me? Let me guess, you're hoping that you can somehow end this duel in a draw don't you and that will save us both? Let me make things worse for you. You see, nothing you do will matter. If the duel ends in a draw, we both will be absorbed by the shadows. I draw. I flip summon my Frog Leaper [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 2]. When this card is flipped up, another Frog Leaper is summoned from my hand [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 2]. Now I summon a third Frog Leaper [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 2]. I now Overlay my three level 2 Frog Leapers.

All three turn into lights and fly into a spiral.

Charlotte: With these three monsters I construct the Overlay Network. Exceed Summon! Block Golem [ATK 2000/DEF 0 RANK 2]. I have two Exceed monsters now big brother. Keep going lightly and you lose for sure. I remove one Overlay Unit from Golem [Unit = 2]. Now I'll be able to negate a Spell or Trap card this turn.

Baron: Trap card, Lone- Standing Wolf. I can use this card when I only control one monster. Now for this turn, my monster on the field cannot be destroyed by battle.

Charlotte: Damn it…you used it before I could attack. Blocking me isn't going to protect you forever big brother! No point in attacking if I can't win. I end my turn.

Rika: This isn't like you lord Baron. You never hesitate to go all out, but you're holding back this time. Are you….trying to reach Charlotte's good heart even at a time like this?

Baron: Here goes, draw! With this card I can stage my comeback. But even if I do…what will happen to Charlotte.

He closes his eyes and shakes when he remembers. His mother is lying on a bed gasping.

Baron's mother: Alphonse…please listen to me. One day you will become baron of this country. Even with that goal in mind, please don't forget you are also Alphonse el Alejandro. Please…protect your sibling.

Enfermero becomes 3 rings that Santa flies through, becoming 4 stars [3 + 4 = 7].

Baron: Open your jaws, sharpen your claws, pursue your prey. A feast of blood begins under the night sky; fill your stomach will life blood! Synchro Summon! Ole, Lycan Lider- Killer Doble [ATK 2700/DEF 1100 LV 7]

Charlotte: His other Synchro monster…at a time like this!?

Baron: Let's end this game Charlotte! Lider attacks Top Twister. Gemini Bite.

One of the heads snaps Twister and destroys it as Charlotte coughs [Charlotte LP = 3200].

Baron: And that is not all. My monster can attack twice during each Battle Phase. Destroy Golem!

It leaps forward and destroys the opposing monster, snapping off its head. Charlotte cries out as she falls back [Charlotte LP = 2500].

Baron: I am sorry Charlotte…but I need to keep fighting. I will not just lie down and let you win.

Charlotte: Why…doesn't that surprise me? Go ahead and finish me big brother. You've already broken that promise to me…that promise you broke when you showed your true feelings for me.

Baron: Charlotte, please tell me! What are you saying?! What did I…?

His eyes widen as he recalls something. Charlotte sheds a tear as she remembers a young Charlotte watching a younger Baron talking with his dad.

Alphonse: My son, you will become baron one day. You might as well get used to the term. A baron has to focus on his country, not on his family. Your sister is holding you back. Don't you have more important matters to focus on? Surely she is a pain to you.

Baron: Yes…Charlotte is a pain.

Baron falls to his knees as the flashback ends.

Charlotte: Now you remember. On that day I learned how you really felt. You tore my heart into pieces and now I'll return the favor! I draw! I destroy my Field Spell and use its power to draw 2.

Rika: Taking out her own Field Spell?

Charlotte: Spell card, Wrapping Paper Rip! This lets me pay 500 life points [Charlotte LP = 2000] and rearrange the top 3 cards of my deck in any order I choose. Now from my hand the Spell card Fusion Birth. I send the top 5 cards of my deck to the graveyard and fuse them. I combine Dream Clown and Action Hero, which substitutes for another Fusion Material monster. This lets me summon Bickuribox [ATK 2300/DEF 2000 LV 7].

Baron: A Fusion Summon?

Charlotte: And now from my hand I equip Axe of Despair and raise his power by 1000 [ATK 3300/DEF 2000 LV 7]. Strike him down!

It swings the axe and a scythe, chopping Lider in four. Baron cries as he is flung back [Baron LP = 2600]. He struggles to stand as he coughs.

Rika: Young lord! Please stop young lady! You'll kill him!

Charlotte: I'm aware. And I will. Big brother…you will die as I died. And then…I'll go after father.

Baron struggles to stand and wipes away blood.

Baron: I'm sorry Charlotte…but I will not allow that. I promise…to reclaim your heart and make our promise real.

Charlotte narrows her eyes as she watches him.

Episode 150: Moving Forward Towards The Future

In Cynemia City, more hooded figures arrive on the battlefield and keep attacking. Angelo cries out as he flies back through an open door as Diablo falls to his knees, getting pulled inside one as well.

Steve: Can't…can't keep this up for much longer.

Greg: I'll admit this ain't easy. Even Grannel can't keep up forever…

An Ultimate Tyranno roars and smashes through Grannel. Greg cries out as steps back, getting pulled inside a door. All the guards look on as more keep moving forward.

Armen: My, my. The police force cannot keep up nowadays.

Grayson: Things were better when I was in control. Back when they were a lot stronger.

Armen and Grayson stand there.

Hooded figure: Sokuji Armen and Grayson. Will you join our cause? They've locked you up.

Grayson: I'm afraid we need to decline your generous offer.

Opening

Brutus opens his eyes in the present and smiles. [Brutus LP = 2800] [Axel LP = 1300]. Brutus and Axel have no set cards while Brutus has Evolzar Laggia [ATK 2400/DEF 2000 RANK 4]. Axel has White- Horned Dragon on the field [ATK 2200/DEF 1400 LV 6]

Brutus: White- Horned Dragon…my first partner. It was thanks to you I even become so famous in the first place. It's nice to see Axel has taken care of you.

Axel: This was your ace card. I'm not perfect, but I know to treat cards, a duelist's soul, with respect. Have you forgotten that?

Dragon roars and charges up energy in its horn, firing and destroying Laggia. Brutus roars in pain as the blast engulfs him [Brutus LP = 1500]. He gasps in pain as Axel stands there looking angry.

Axel: I don't want to destroy you with your own card. I have more respect for you than that.

Brutus: Not bad….looks like my servant Viral was right to be interested. You really are worthy of holding a Fate Crystal.

Axel: How can you support them?! Wasn't it Viral who caused your accident?! They were the reason you are even doing what you are doing now!

Brutus: Is that what you believe? You are wrong child. I do what I do out of free will. If anything, I am grateful to the Crossed Brotherhood for what they did. They showed me just how fickle human beings really are. One moment you can be on top of the world, and the next you fall so low you see nothing but the bottom of the topsoil. This world is like that. From my hand, I use another Spell card, Evo- Force. Now I destroy an Evoltile monster on the field. From my deck, an Evolsaur monster is Special Summoned with its effect.

Axel: What?! He's summoning an Evolsaur right away?!

Brutus: Come on, Evolsaur Cerato [ATK 1900/DEF 1400 LV 4]. Now that an Evolsaur monster has been summoned, one monster you control is destroyed. I destroy White- Horned Dragon. Evolve Bomb!

Axel: I can't allow this! Trap card, Chain Link Life! Now I can negate the destruction of one monster on my field by paying 500 life points.

A blast of energy hits Dragon as chains bind it to Axel. The monster is not destroyed as Axel screams [Axel LP = 800]. He gasps as smoke rises from him.

Brutus: I see, trying to protect your powerful monster. Even with such a strong monster, it will not help.

Axel: I'm not keeping this out for power. I'm keeping it out…to show you the old Brutus is not dead! Just because you are the way you are now does not mean the old you is gone.

Brutus: So that's the reason? You are more philosophical than I thought. But I have to disappoint you in that regard. That Brutus is nothing but a phantasm now. There is no point in bringing back a ghost who doesn't exist anymore. Since Cerato was summoned through the power of an Evoltile monster, he gains 200 attack points [ATK 2100/DEF 1400 LV 4]. I set a card and end my turn.

Both attacks hit the monster as it stands against the blows.

Axel: Hmph. Your small fry of a monster still isn't good enough. I'll make sure to make things quick, don't worry. I set a card and end my turn. Are you going to stop this insane game?

Brutus: I cannot afford to. I must win this duel no matter what.

Axel: Sorry, but I can't let that happen!

Brutus: My turn, draw. I summon Evoltile Lagosuchus [ATK 1200/DEF 500 LV 3]. Now I send one Evolsaur monster from the deck to the graveyards. I change my monster to attack mode [ATK 2100/DEF 1400 LV 4]. Battle. I attack with my Evolsaur. Destroy his weak little Magna Drago.

Axel: Not so fast! Trap card, Half or Nothing. Now you can have the option of continuing your attack with half the power you used to have or simply cancel your attack altogether.

Brutus: A defensive card? That seems so unlike you given the deck you use.

Axel: Since it just dealt effect damage to you [ATK 1600/DEF 600 LV 2], he gains an additional 200 attack points End it White- Horned Dragon! Go, Horn Drive Buster!

His other monster is vaporized and creates a huge explosion. Axel pants as he watches, but then his eyes widen.

Brutus: Not bad boy. You almost had me that time. Sadly for you, I removed the Spell card Screen of Damage. Now all damage taken during that last battle is halved. Instead of taking 1600 points of damage, I'll take a mere 800 [Brutus LP = 400]. Really now Axel, you know I've been in tougher situations than this.

Axel: Exactly. That's why I'm going all out against you! I end my turn with that.

Brutus: Looks like the order of turns has reversed. Here I go, draw! I use the Spell card Magic Conversion Ceremony. I can pay half my life points and destroy one Spell or Trap card on the field to draw 3 cards [Brutus LP = 200]. Then I set a card and set a monster in face down defense mode. Turn end.

Axel: Drawing cards? I see, you're aiming to summon another monster. Too bad I won't let you! Here I go, draw! I set a monster also. I don't need anything else to take you out! Battle. White- Horned Dragon attacks the set monster. Horn Drive Buster!

It roars and fires, taking out the set monster.

Brutus: A nice blow. But unfortunately for you, my destroyed monster was Evoltile Westlo [ATK 700/DEF 1900 LV 3]. And because you destroyed him and flipped him up, I can Special Summon an Evolsaur monster from my deck. I choose Evolsaur Elias [ATK 100/DEF 2400 LV 6]. Since he was summoned through this method, I can Special Summon another Evolsaur monster from my hand. Come on out, Evolsaur Terias [ATK 2400/DEF 600 LV 6].

Axel: Two Level 6 monsters?! Damn, I change Magna Drago to defense mode and end my turn [ATK 1600/DEF 600 LV 2].

Brutus: My turn, draw! I use the Spell Card of Burial Magic. I remove 3 Spells from play and draw 2 cards. You know what happens now, don't you boy? With this, victory is mine. I Overlay my level 6 Evolsaur Terias and Evolsaur Elias.

Both turn into lights and fly into a spiral.

Brutus: With these two monsters I construct the Overlay Network. Show yourself, Evolzar Solda [ATK 2600/DEF 1000 RANK 6].

Axel: A Rank 6 Exceed monster. This isn't good…

Brutus: I equip him with Fair Meteor Crush. Now he has the ability to attack and deal Piercing damage. This is the end of the line boy. Even defense cannot hold a wall against me! Evolzar Solda attacks, Final Evolution!

Axel: Trap card, Soul Drain! I decrease the attack points of one monster on the field by the attack points of your monster and negate all attacks from that monster this turn. Solda has 2600 attack points while White- Horned Dragon has 3700. [ATK 1100/DEF 1400 LV 6].

The attack fires and hits but does not destroy Drago as White- Horned falls to the ground.

Brutus: So now you are weakening my monster? I have to say I feel slightly offended. Have you final decided to stop protecting that dead weight?

Axel: Hell no! This is the trump card I will use to win the duel!

Brutus: Why?! Why do you refuse to let go of the past?

Axel: I won't let go because I know you wouldn't want to be like this the way you used to be.

Brutus: Listen up brat. I choose this path because it is all I have left. Do you any idea the things I've been through? No, you could not. You lived a relatively happy and easy life. A life full from misery and pain. After my accident, I was left unable to walk or ride a D- Wheel. In one duel, my honor and glory was taken away. But it was not just that. Drago becomes 2 rings that Dragon and Kid fly through, becoming 8 stars [2 + 2 + 6 = 10].

Axel: A silver lightning bolt descends and rips heaven, hell, and the earth. Synchro Summon! My surging soul, Blue-Eyes Silver Dragon [ATK 3800/DEF 3000 LV 10].

Brutus: Your most powerful monster! I was waiting for this moment! I remove one Overlay Unit from my monster and negate the summoning of your monster, destroying it [Unit = 1].

Axel: I use the power of Chain Link Life and negate that summoning [Axel LP = 300].

Brutus: Why are you so intent on protecting those monsters?! The past is not worth protecting! The only thing you can do is move on and toss away the past!

Axel: You're the one who is wrong! You can't throw away the Brutus you used to be! You will always be the same hero people looked up to you. Even if you try, people will still remember and support you!

Brutus: No…this is me! I will not turn back! Trap card, Exceed Final Charge. I pay all Overlay Units [Unit = 0] and double the power of my monster [ATK 5200/DEF 1000 RANK 6]. You can't challenge me!

Axel: I can…and will! I use the set card One for One. Now I discard a card and summon a level 1 monster. Come on out Level Cutter [ATK 0/DEF 100 LV 1]. This card can be Special Summoned from the graveyard when I control two Dragons. Come on back, Newborn Dragon [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 1]. I've obtained new power…new power I'll release here! I tune level 1 Level Cutter and level 1 Newborn Dragon.

Cutter becomes 1 ring that Dragon flies through, becoming 1 star [1 + 1 = 2]

Axel: Stir up the storm as lightning and shock the world below you. Synchro Summon! Synchro- Tuner, Stormy Synchron [ATK 300/DEF 500 LV 2].

Brutus: I know what your plan is! Unfortunately, as long as Exceed Final Charge is out, my Exceed monsters are not affected by cards. You can't destroy it with Stormy Synchron!

Axel: That isn't my aim. I tune my level 2 Synchro- Tuner, Stormy Synchron, and level 10 Synchro monster, Blue- Eyes Silver Dragon.

Stormy becomes 2 rings that Dragon flies through, becoming 10 stars [2 + 10 = 12]. Axel screams as his Fate Crystal glows, releasing large amounts of energy as Brutus watches in shock.

Axel: The heavens guide the shining light to the earth and cleanse the earth with its pure white lightning! Become the savior of the sky and earth! Accel Synchro! Show yourself, Silver Storm Dragon! [ATK 4000/DEF 3800 LV 12].

Brutus: I see. You summoned your Accel Synchro monster. But at this point, it will not help you win this duel! My monster still overpowers yours!

Axel: Don't underestimate me! I attack with Silver Storm. When he battles, all other cards besides his target are destroyed. And for each one, you take 600 points of damage. Go, Lightning Divine Punishment. Heaven's Force- Destruction Silver Lightning!

The Dragon roars and fires lightning in all directions, taking out the Continuous Trap. It then fires a beam of energy from its mouth as Brutus watches in shock before closing his eyes and chuckling [Brutus LP = 0]. He is sent flying back out of his chair, hitting the ground. Axel deactivates his Disk and runs over.

Brutus: What an amazing duel…to think I've missed out on being able to fight in such great duels…

Axel helps him stand up and supports him. Brutus begins to laugh as a door opens.

Brutus: I can't feel angry after that. Thank you Axel…for showing me a great duel. I used to think I would never have that again.

Axel: Even if the world ignores you, ignore the world and make your dreams come true.

Axel puts the White- Horned Dragon in his hand as he chuckles and sheds a tear.

Brutus: You have the potential to be an even greater hero than I was. Oh…and that girl. Her name is Tamika, right? Take good care of her Axel. She cares for you very deeply…as you do with her.

He looks down as chains pull him inside the doors, which slam shut. Axel watches in sorrow as a door in the wall opens.

Axel: Looks like I can keep going. Don't worry Brutus…I'll reclaim your honor.

He stomps down the stairs as Brutus's chair sits empty.
