Here we go again people.  I have a serious problem with the way I have been treated from the Sony Customer Service personnel.  I have been fighting a constant battle on my PS3.  Allow me to make one thing clear right off the get-go here, DON'T PLAY PLAYSTATION ONE GAMES ON YOUR PS3, IT IS JUST SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR DISASTER.  As I found out myself the hard way, and in the worst way possible, PSX games just don't run adiquately on the high-end system.  Here is my story:  I was going through my ever growing game collection which I just happen to keep on a handy, organized Excel spreadsheet that I wish I could upload somehow, and wondered if I should take on the challenge of conquering one of my unconquered RPG games.  My immediate thought was Star Ocean III, just because it is on the PS2 and that is what I was looking at at the time.  Then I thought well I can't do that, I would need to play Star Ocean: Second Story first.  That thought led to the thought of hours upon hours upon hours to get through that so my thoughts turned to Chrono Cross.  I have previously defeated Chrono Trigger in quite a few different ways so Chrono Cross wasn't such a bad idea.  So I transfered my RPG memory card via my PS3 memory card adaptor onto my hard drive and put the game in and got under way.  Nothing immediate promted me to think that this was a horrible mistake, however it was.  After a little while through the game I came into a boss battle and as I was fighting this boss battle the game froze.  IT FROZE.  I thought, hmmmm, well that sucks.  Restarted the game and I was back underway.  I managed to get through the fight no problem second time through but I thought that it was peculiar since it was a PS3 and all.  FYI, the game is brand new, so scratches are not a valid excuse for the freeze.  So I am crusing through the game and I got to another boss battle and it froze again.  This time it froze the second time too.  It may be worth mentioning that ithe way it freezes, if you are familiar with Chrono Cross, when a charactor is using an elemental attack they charge up a little energy before the attack itself is unleashed.  While during this brief two second charge up period, that is where it will freeze and they will just charge and charge and charge endlessly.  So I thought, Wow this really blows.  I tried sever times to get through the fight, but if it wouldn't freeze on one charactor, it would freeze on a different one.  Even the enemy would freeze it at times.  Imagine my frustration.  Well I finally made it through, though I had to try to limit my usage of elements and that made it really hard, and everything was well in the world again.  But now I knew that I was in for a fight.  Over the course of the game I have identified six to seven times where it freezes, specific battles, or areas where it just freezes the game up.  That is REDICULIOUS there is no reason why the emotion engine can't work half as well as it does in the PS2 in the PS3, Infact there should be TWICE AS MANY EMOTIONS then the old PS2.  Okay so I email the CustServ at Playstation.com and tell them my story and ask them ONE simple question.  I ask them, "Will there be future support for transferring PS/PS2 game save files from the PS3 hard drive back to an original PS/PS2 memory card?"  Simple question no?  Apparently not cause the first response was like this here, "We are sorry you are expiriencing these problems.  Chrono Cross is published under a third party publisher, please contact them for assistance..."  Yea, this is what really pisses me off.  THE MORON DIDN'T EVEN READ MY EMAIL!!  DAMN DUDE WHAT DO THEY PAY YOU FOR!!!!  So I emailed back with the reference number and said," Clearly, this Joseph who is supposedly a multimedai specialist, has trouble reading, for it is obvious to me that he didn't read my email, therefore I would like someone to answer my original question, I am not going to ask it again because I assume that with this email reference number you gave me ******** that you can look it up."  Thats about how I said it and here is the response they sent me.  "We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.  The most effective way for us to assist you is by speaking with you directly.  Please call our Consumer Services Department at..."  Okay so why is it that NO ONE CAN ANSWER A SIMPLE QUESTION, so I said, Why do I need to call you to get you to answer my very simple question.  I don't think that this is nessecary.  Nor is it convinient for me to do so therefore I will ask my question again in more specific terms to get through to you..."  Something like that, I assure you while fighting to play Chrono Cross and dealing with imbiciles over at CustServ, I was losing my patience.  I got this reply: "To use saved data on a Memory Card for PlayStation(R) or PS one(TM) or Memory Card(8MB)(for
PlayStation(R)2), you must copy the data onto a internal memory card within the hard disk on the
PLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system.  This requires a PlayStation 2/PSone Memory Card
adaptor (SCPH-98042, sold separately) to copy the data to your PLAYSTATION 3 system.

To create an Internal Memory Card follow the instructions below.
1. Navigate to the Game icon on the home menu.  Use the direction arrow and navigate to "Memory Card
Utility(PS/PS2)" and press the X button.
2. This will bring up "New Internal Memory Card" option.  Press the X button.
3. This will prompt you to choose "Internal Memory Card(PS2)" or "Internal Memory Card(PS)".
Highlight which even option you wish to create an Internal Memory Card for and press the X button.
4. You may now enter a name for the Internal Memory Card.  Press the X button to bring up the
on-screen keyboard.  Once you are done naming the Internal Memory Card highlight "OK" and press the
X button to finish creating the memory card.  The PLAYSTATION(R)3 system will assign it to the first
available slot.

NOTE: If a PS one or PlayStation 2 format title is inserted into the PLAYSTATION(R)3 system and no
Internal Memory Card is detected, the PLAYSTATION(R)3 system will ask you if you wish to create one.

Please note that you will only be able to save data from the PlayStation 2/PSone Memory Card adaptor
to the PLAYSTATION 3 system, but you will not be able to save data back to a Memory Card using the
Memory Card Adaptor.  We do not have any information whether this function will be available in the
future.  In addition, certain save files may be copy protected and therefore will not be
transferrable.

Now let me show you what I think was their attempt at answering my question...

you will not be able to save data back to a Memory Card using the Memory Card Adaptor.  We do not have any information whether this function will be available in the future.

WOW.  Do you think I should have just got a Wii instead??  All this work for a simple shrug of the shoulders, "Uh...I dunno"  Sony, Come on, I have been supporting you through thick and thin and my PS2 is my best friend but something has to be done.  This is rediculious.  AND DO YOU WANT TO KNOW THE WORST PART OF IT ALL????  I CAN'T EVEN FINISH CHRONO CROSS.  The final battle against Lavos freazes every single time Lavos uses an elemental attack, which is every single time the battle starts.  DAMN IT!!!  Never play a PS game on your PS3 much less one that requres alot of time and energy.  I got screwed in the end, lesson learned.  Over 'n' out.

Okay, okay, time again for another rousing session of Chitty Chatty here with me.  My friend, lets just call him Matt, and I were in an intense debate as to who is actually the best in the console wars.  For the sake of explaining this, we both hate Little Billy Gates, so XBOX isn't included, cause its gay So anyways this is my view, the winner, or atleast one who is winning, is Sony and I will tell you why a bit later.  Matt over there thinks that Nintendo is winning.  Okay so here is the explination, Nintnedo owned the whole thing, they were, for all intensive purposes, the starting point for the in home gaming console.  No one could touch that Nintendo Entertainment System.  They continued their ownership as many tried and failed to compete with them.  Then the next-gen technology came through.  Thus the SNES was born with twice the colors and twice the graphics, it was a sight to see.  So the game ball is in Nintendo's hands right at this moment.  Ooops, dropped it, yea who picks it up?  Sega that's who.  They run with it and run so fast that they blew past them.  They had the idea and the means to make practically a quantum leap through with their transition to cd format.  Even though their Sega CD, or Sega Saturn didn't fly so well, they were still revolutionary in it's own right.  So ball is in Sega's hands at this moment.  Then Sony came on the scene with all their ideals and big moneys to push on game titles.  So the consoles were Sega had the saturn, Nintendo had the N64, which flopped like the saturn, and the Play Station, which was made by some no name company as far as gamers are concerned.  Advantage goes to Sony for getting the game developers but everyone was waiting to see this new Sega system which showed a hell of a lot of promise.  So Sega still has the ball.  Now the Dreamcast comes out with it's amazing graphics and the ability to go online and those neat little memory cards with the mini games on them.  So much potential.  What happened to them?  So they have the ball and BOOM heart attack, dead.  The ball gets tipped up and who comes down with it, not Nintendo with its lagged out N64, Sony with its extensive game list.  Sony take that ball to and runs like hell with it to geat a great lead on Nintendo and by the time it came to update, PS2 took Gamecube and shoved it.  And that brings us up to present war, PS3 and Wii.  To be fair, you can't really compare the two anymore for that have taken two seperate paths on the road to gaming success.  For all intensive purposaes Sony has the advantage only in the fact that they have more supporters then Nintendo does, course probably only if you factor in worldwide sales.  So that is the way it is, Sony has it for now, but what does Nintendo have planned for future developement?  That is anyone's guess, years from now I could see them making their long awaited comeback.  Only time will tell.  Till next we meet.

Welcome welcome, another fine day and another fine blog post.  Topic on today's agenda is my lovely PS3.  Hells yea fools, I got me one of the limited numbers, and for christmas no less.  How excited you could imagine that I was.  Anywho, it is even better then I originally thought.  Course never having the hands on expirience before, I have nothing to make comparison to.  In any case, it is fantastic, much better then any before it's time.  Not just graphically mind you, somehow it makes you feel closer to the game.  It may pale in conparison to that of the Wii's interaction, but interaction with out game titles to back it up is like a fat guy teaching gym class, or a doctor who smokes.  So I only have one game for it but that makes littleh difference because the game I have is incredible.  Ridge Racer 7.  Incredible by the means that the interactive graphics, and oh my gosh, they keep the drift lines on the track.  SO YOU CAN SEE WHERE YOU DRIFTED BEFORE.  That is so cool.  like to see the Wuss, I mean, Wii do that.  Yea, I CAN'T thats right.  That just makes me wonder how the coming months will imporve upon what gaming is all about, attention to detail.  Okay okay, what it's all about might be too strong a title, but hey attention to detail is always a good bonus, like Bully, alot of attention to detail in that game.  And where are those rankings at anyways, it always says that its sending my ranking info where is it sent to?  Whatever, the word my friends is gaming and PS3 is a new level of gaming so tell Microsoft to go screw itself, cause this is Sony Country and Chevy may be an American revolution, but XBOX is not.  Take it easy peoples.

Wii.  Thats all you can say.  Nintendo has the W for the scores on launch parites.  That is hard for someone who supports Sony as I do, but I do have to admit, that was one hell of a party.  No one was pushing around trying to get theirs cauae there was like four thousand there.  The only lacking part was the entertainment factor, but hey, it isn't about the show it's about them gaming.  Who cares if Ludacris plays it or not.  Why would I want Charlie Murphy telling my how great it is.  Those people don't have crap on me when it comes to gaming knowledge.  They are in no way experts on the subject.  So, Nintendo really bagged themselves a winner.  9.5 for the score on that launch.  Nothing else to say, they win, everyone else loses, so you know which system I am getting first.  Yep, thats right its the Wii.

Update: Yea so I didn't get a Wii first, and I love my PS3 even if the launch for it was Really Really LAME!

Okay Peoples, so I was talking about this earlier and figured it would make a good post so mainly I am going to copy and paste the email here.  Theme basically is why I am a console gamer and not a PC gamer.  Enjoy.

I will tell you why I never really got into computer gaming.  First of all I was a PC gamer, atleast in the begining, when the first game I played 100% through was a computer game, Doom.  I played that all the way through, quite a game.  Then other games came along for the PC like Star Wars X-Wing and TIE Fighter.  Those games were decent, I played Star War Rebel Assault II as well.  Those games I played before I even got an NES.  Then I got the NES and played some games off and on since instead of buying them back then, it was easier to rent them.  The Mario games were just more interresting then anything that I had played for PC.  And there were just more games and better quality, plus the controls were easier to manage.  Then I got the Genesis, then SNES, for gifts and such so that pretty much made it easier for me to make the decision to go for the consoles as appose to the PC.  At that point I reached a stand off.  I had a NES, Genesis, and SNES, some good games for them, but basically nothing new was going on.  The Saturn came out but didn't get one of those until I was officially a collector much later on.  And this game called Age of Empires came out and revolutionized my world of gaming, along with most everyone else's.  People went crazy over that game and why wouldn't they?  So after the console stale-mate in my life, PC rushed in to help out.  Course that was also the first time that I had access to a PC, since we hadn't owned one up to that point.  Starcraft was also a big help.  Then Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3D came out and I got my hands on that, one of my most favored PC games.  BUT THEN, for my, can't remember, 13th (maybe) birthday, I got my charactor defining inspiration in the form of a grey box called a Play Station. (Two words at the time.) Made by Sony of all people.  With the LONG list of crazy and incredible games and gameplay, I was sold.  The rest is history.  So in retrospect, had we had a PC from the beginning, things might have ended differently, but since we didn't I had the solid console base to build off of.  So you can take all the credit for making me the gamer that I am cause, Sony. That Playstation changed my life.  As for the reason why I am a Sony fan as appose to Nintendo fan, that is another story for another time.

And there you have it, keep it here for more of my more then interresting life.  Till then, take it easy peoples.

Well well, time once again for a reflection upon events.  First of all, what happened this friday?  Anybody?  Correct, the PS3 launch was friday morning.  What a launch it was too.  Sony has to be shaking their heads in confusino and regret for what they have forced people into doing.  After all the lines waiting for the day in desperation, people begane to revert back to the good old tickle me elmo days.  How insane is it to have people trampled, shot at, and overall pushed to the brink of becoming barbarians just to get a gaming console.  That isn't a die hard fan, thats a moron.  People who stoop to cheap tricks and pushing and shoving just to get in and obtain the item are just poor excuses for gamers.  The ones who are orderly and courtious, those are the true die hard fans.  And the ones who buy them to turn over and sell them for a profit are satan spawns and should burn in hell and die a bloody, torurious, excrusiating, and all out devistaional demise that is long and filled with pain.  Anywho, I actually had a life and could not camp out, or else I would have, so I resorted to online buying.  which would have been great had I not counted on Amazon to get it.  Becauses as most know at 12 am friday morning, we all awaited a magical button to appear that said at to cart, that NEVER APPEARED.  Yea so Amazon sucks hairy monkey testicles.  No notice saying we were wasting our time no nothing.  They probably watched us talking on that message board eagerly anticipating the event, and laughed their demonic little heads off.  So, I am not getting a model 1, and must settle for a later release.  Way to give us the finger Amazon.  Alot blame Sony for shipping so few, but hey, the US gets the most of any in the world and we wanted more, therefore, Sony lost alot of cash just because they couldn't deliver more.  They could have sold twice the amount and made twice the revenue.  So, don't blame Sony, blame the supporters who put up the components to build them.  So thats Sony and their Playstation 3, now about Nintendo and their Wii.  How cool is that controller?  I mean being a Sony fan myself, I stull have to pay respect to that kind of game innovation.  Though I would kick and scream to get one on launch day, I will probably get one week or two afterward, if they don't sell out.  And hey, the price alone makes it worth while, 250 is a drop in the bucket compared to a 400 box or a 600 PS3.  So don't be surprised to see my collection grow to include a Wii soon enough.  So scores for successful Launch for Sony, I would give them a 7.3, because they get points for doing what they could, though it wasn't as successful as the PS2.  Check back for the Wii Launch score.

Missing Games

Well, I am adding all of my old school games to my collection and for the second time, Gamespot doesn't have a game in their database.  Kindof annoying, even though I am sure that it would be impossible to keep track of every single game.  The games are Williams' Arcade Greatest Hits (I have it for Genesis, they only have the ones for PS and SNES) and Thrilla Safari (For NES)  Is there a way to email them so they can look into this matter, and perhaps add it to their database?  I will have to look into doing this.

I just found another one, the 4-in-1 Fun Pack Volume II, for Game Boy, they have the first one but not this one.

Hey people.

Well, sometime during a Patriots drive I saw a very strange commercial.  There was a big white room with a baby doll in it.  Then you see this little black rectangular box.  The baby opens its eyes and looks at the box.  Then freaky things started happening.  The doll's eyes started flashing strange pictures.  Turned out the be a PS3 commercial.  So, my question is, why in the hell would sony make such a queer advertising undertaking.  Now, I know that sony has never really had a normal commercial, from the burnt up sheep, to the dust balls, but this is just creepy.  Are they trying to sell a gaming console or some demonic portal to hell?  Maybe I just missed the point of the commercial, but I would find it hard to believe that anyone in their right mind would get what they are throwing out there.  Disturbing to say the least.  That being said, I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY PS3!!!!!!!!!!

Hey People.

My name is Anthony and I am a gamer.  I have been a gamer since the good old NES days.  Since those days, I have started my vast collection.  It spans over 16 consoles and over 250 games.  My pride and joy is my PS2, that is the main consle that I play and I have accumulated over 50 games for it.  My friends are gamers as well, there's nothing better then having a hobby that is shared by a close-knit group like mine.  People on the outside just don't get gaming.  They say it's a waste of time.  Well you will find that most people who talk all the crap about video games, never really gave them a fair try.  I suppose you either love 'em or your hate 'em.  Me, I love 'em.  Hopefully, I will continue collecting well into my golden years.  Thats all for No. I, see you peoples next time.
