"We are not making any profit from sales of the Overwatch Pink Mercy Skin."
My interpretation is that unlike Microsoft, Sony is deducting what they consider "operational costs" for selling the Mercy skin. They may not consider it profitable -- hey, servers and staff and bandwidth ain't free -- but it's pretty clear that the money is going to Sony.
@Barighm: I'd say this is nit-picking. And given that the games often run better on XONE than they did on X360, I'd say that the download trade-off is worth it.
This is an exciting development. Since Sony gave up on backwards compatibility, it has made it difficult to play many of the classics from the PlayStation library. If they've gotten PS2 games running, I hope to see an explosion of games from one of the greatest console libraries of all time, followed by PSone games. PS Now is a great value. I hate that they stopped developing the PS3 and PSVita clients.
Whilst everyone is focused on the number one million, I think the purportedly impressive part of the statistics is that they reached that milestone within their first two days. Granted, Game Pass, free trials, blah blah blah. But I think Rare is admitting that even they didn't expect this level of demand so quickly.
I seldom buy games when they come out. It's too expensive for my budget, and given my schedule, I still might not play the game for months anyway. As a result, I get a lot of games from the "budget bin" of used games or digital sales. Sure, I save money on the total cost of my library, but the downside is that I don't get to discuss the game with my friends while the hype is still strong.
And I don't even bother with multiplayer under this arrangement. By the time I start playing, the online community has either died out or leveled up to a point that I'm like a chicken with a rifle running around most maps. :-p
For my fellow gamers who paid for the season pass, the last thing you should do is be jealous of those of us who are still playing catch-up.
