Wow, downgraded from $250M to $75M?!? That's a huge downgrade! Japan's economy must be doing gangbusters for the yen's appreciation to overtake increased sales like that. I bet they're hoping the US economy recovers real soon.
Translation from Iwata: "Yeah, we saw what happened to Sony six years ago when they tried to sell the PlayStation 3 at a 'premium' price -- not to mention our own 3DS debacle -- so um, we won't be trying anything stupid this time around."
Not only does the first appearance of Ratchet & Clank on the PS Vita sound great, but the Cross Buy promotion makes it a great value. This one is going on my wishlist.
I'm all for more Mass Effect games. These companies spend years crafting rich, elaborate universes and characters with detailed backstories for what...so we can watch one man's thread through a span of a few years? C'mon...
There's a reason that more than a generation on we are still getting good fiction from the Star Trek and Star Wars universes. It's because they're so large that there's always a new crevasse to be mined. I would love to see the next "big story universes" come from the world of gaming.
I don't know if I'm representative, so let me ask this: Do any of you use the PS3 or Wii web browsers on a reguar basis? And if so, do you have a real hardware keyboard, or do you do all your typing using the controller and on-screen keyboard?
If I have to type anything complex, I plug a USB keyboard into my console, but really, if I want to do any real browsing, I'm more likely to just get up and go to a computer or grab a tablet / smartphone. I'm glad the console browsers are there, but I don't use them much at all.
What's most important to these companies (like Nintendo) is hitting their price targets. When somebody (i.e. Foxconn) is manufacturing / assembling your products that cheaply, you pretty much have to assume that there's some shady dealings going on at the factory.
