When Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was released, I thought for sure that it would go nowhere simply because it was a PlayStation 3 exclusive at a time when the PS3 installed base wasn't very big.
A few years, a few awards, and a couple sequels later, people were going back to buy the original game in order to get the complete story arc or a few more hours of gameplay with Nathan Drake.Of course, there's probably a big advantage to doing it God of War-style and releasing the game to a huge base (e.g. PS2) and then putting out a sequel for the new system (PS3) and taking your well-established audience with you.
On a related note, I was not totally surprised to see Angry Birds arrive on the consoles...
I *was* surprised to see it arrived as a boxed set available at retail for $40. I mean, I know it's in HD and all, but a 4,000% markup over the smartphones? C'mon...
I love to see these classic games get a second lease on life, but these companies (Sony, Sega, Square Enix) always price these games way outside the reasonable range. I'm not paying you $10 for a 17-year-old game that you converted into an app that has about 90 minutes worth of good gameplay in it.Your remade apps should be only three or four dollars.
