@primemooseart: Well, that's because DC only has two characters anybody gives a shit about. 😂 Batman and Superman were given big budgets, top casts and put in capable hands. The studios had enough confidence in the projects to open the coffers.
@cydie: I imagine that the PS exclusive features would cease, followed the addition of exclusive features for the Xbox. Maybe once the installed bases are large enough, MS may consider making CoD exclusive or making an exclusive entry in the line-up. MS finance team will tally the pros and cons. If the deal was done before the launch of this generation, the question of potential exclusivity would be far more interesting.
Obviously, if MS could have kept the franchise exclusive from the beginning, they likely would have. The same goes for Mass Effect (Bioware and Pandemic), Titanfall, KOTOR, Splinter Cell, The Elder Scrolls, Remedy titles, and so on.
These movies are relatively recent, so to say "disappeared" is misleading. Although, the list is laden with C-listers, so how many would miss them? Got to make some cuts somewhere (The Eternals, for instance).
@xXRorschachXx: I used to consistently buy games day one when I was younger. The basement has boxes with hundreds of old games in them. Now I wait to see if most games hit $20 - $30, and if there is a coupon I could apply. I do send a lot more building PCs, though. I used to be pretty frugal there years ago.
@walbo: I find a lot of stuff I previously overlooked or hesitated to buy there. Old Xbox OG and 360 games I never finished. Much of the indie games I may never have tried. A Plague Tale, Carrion, Tunic, Aliens Fireteam, Back For Blood. Several big 3rd party titles were added (Guardians, Avengers, Outriders, the Yakuza series) and I am wondering if Evil Dead will be next (at least for console, as Epic has PC exclusivity right now).
The cost is not an issue for me -- first and foremost because I converted Live to GPU. I have been on for 2 years and an good through 5/27/2024. MS rewards points let you extend it...for now. In the advent that the "free" period expires, I would buy yearly memberships as I did with Live.
A year from now there should be a healthy chunk of first party titles on Game Pass. By the end of 2024, MS will probably have to stagger the releases to seasons.
