@thecupidstunts: Well, prices are blown out of proportion now because of COVID-19 ramifications. Yes, building a PC would still be more expensive than buying Series X or PS5 retail.
When you build PCs, eventually you will succumb to lure of performance. The best or damn near best possible performance now. Prices you thought absurd a few years ago will gradually come into measured consideration.
@at0m1x: Yes, the devs created the game, so they are responsible for bugs. That is how being a creator works. The consumer pays & plays and doesn't contribute much else. Unfortunately, too many as miserable and despicable individuals who desperately want to a part of something (negative), given a forum to broadcast and rally.
The "Grind" as you say, is what you make of it. There is no "grind" to be had if you want to level up the Battle Pass. You are given double XP perks every 5 levels and are award 1000 points for 6 games a day. Save one for Tuesday after weekly challenge reset, use any others after daily reset.
Unless you want each weekly ultimate reward, are compelled by incrementing numbers, or like to play dress up a little too much, I don't see an immediate problem with the levelling.
Complain (with come dignity, please) about something practical that impacts gameplay negatively. Say...the melee warping and the poor hit detection in many matches.
@thecupidstunts: I understand there is a lot of work and balancing that people overlook for co-op to work. However...what the hell does campaign co-op's release have to do with the multiplayer seasons? 😄
Oh God, no. This series is almost deliberately terrible (save for Strand, who is comically entertaining). I am compelled to watch just about anything with zombies in it. Don't do this to me.
I actually found it in me to skip multiple seasons of this series, but fell off the wagon in season 6. Thank God "The World Beyond" was only two seasons.
@DarkShadowGod: I remember when WWE Raw came out for OG XBox (after months delay) the game was lackluster and somewhat bare bones in gameplay. A disappointment, truly. Still, there were people excited about the CAW clothing options. WTF. If that is what you want, go play Barbie dress up, or the Kardashian games. Some people can't see the forest for the trees.
Halo, Street Fighter, MK, VF, Tekken. Competition, AI, challenge are what made the industry. Tight game loops. Longer but still satisfying game loops are sports games (racing, football, basketball, hockey). I remember playing hours of Tekken 2 with a buddy who wasn't even big into videogames, it was just so much fun to beat the hell out of each other. The match counter would cap at 99 and we would just keep going.
The rewards/acknowledgments complement the experience, they are not the experience. Pinball is dead for a reason.
If so many people get off on scores flying, XP meters tallying, and unlocks pops mid-match, why not make a "game" that is just those effects popping off? Might be a big seller around here...
@BeefoTheBold: Yes. I'm not worried about them shutting down the service. It is not very likely to happen anytime soon. Some people make the same argument about Steam and other digital storefronts. Questioning the idea of true ownership. My point is that subscription services will become more popular/acceptable, not that they will become the first choice in a single generation, necessarily.
I did the XBL conversion to 3 years of Game Pass, so there won't be any membership interruptions. My sub is good until 2023-11-27. MS gives you some many points for using Bing or playing GP games, you can extend the duration significantly. Maybe that will change.
And what if a portion of my library did disappear? The physical bulk of it, I may not miss. The older stuff is sitting in the closet. Some I sold, which I regret on principle. Some I gave away. None of that lot is doing me any good now. I got my utility out of them, though the money invested is still difficult to let go of when the object is physical.
The rest of my library is digital and spread about a number of services. Game Pass removes the perceived need to buy $100 Ultimate Editions. Simply by the upgrade if you must. If a game is going to leave, GP, there is the option to buy a digital or cheaper physical copy.
I wonder if Steam had a GP equivalent, how many would subscribe. My backlog is so deep, was there really a point to buying those games years ago?
