Martian Child

This movie was very heartwarming and fun in the beginning and the end, but I found the middle to be very dragging. It is the story of how a science fiction writer adopts a child who believes he is from Mars. The movie did not leave any loose ends, but I still thought the middle was dragging, and seemed to make little progress in the plot.

Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd

you know what's worse than a sequel? a sequel that has none of the cast from the first movie. I thought the title fit this movie very well, because it was dumb. Not funny, but just dumb. I saw a kind of Mr. Bean humor in this film, but I didn't like Mr. Bean before, and this movie did not change my mind. The only decent part was Bob Saget's rant about ****

1 star.

Gangs of New York

This movie was very good-looking and compelling, albeit a bit long. The actors all did terrific jobs, and the setting was very skillfully displayed as authentic 19th century New York. The plot was so compelling, that you might almost think that the film was based on actual events. The fight scenes were gritty and realistic, and the final 20 minutes left me on the edge of my seat. Highly recommneded.

Awww Nuts!

My school's basketball team was bounced from the playoffs in the 2nd round. We absolutely smoked the team in the first round by like 20, so I thought last night was going to be an easy win, but we were deadlocked in a slow-paced defensive game, which is not our style, so we lost by 7, 42-35. It was sad to see the basketball season end. The games were always a fun social event.

oh well, on the bright side, I can spend more time on GS instead of going to games. :P

and baseball season is right around the corner. :D

Jumper

Jumper is a rather short film, but it makes the most of it. The action picks up from the beginning, and ceases to let up until the end. The fight scenes were very well done, and the special effects were something to be applauded. However, the story left a major loose end with the irish jumper, and the evolution of the romance plot was way too schizophrenic to be considered remotely believable. Also, I have no idea where the filmmakers were going when they dyed Samuel L. Jackson's hair white. Nevertheless, when it comes to action, the movie delivers. 3 1/2 stars.
