Halo 3 I would say is a good FPS console wise, but honestly, the following it has it small once you step into the PC realm. Games like CS have been going strong for 8 years, and more people play that everyday than all the people that own halo 3.

You might want to check your facts on that particular statement. Per Steam's game statistic database @ http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=stats you are a little off. Halo 3 alone sees over 1.1 million players a day. Every single one of Steam's games (CS, TF, etc.) combined doesn't even reach the half-million mark per day.

I just laughed when you mentioned Halo 3 because that games is far from being the "best" MP game out there. Halo is one of those games that get boring after an hour.

Sure its fun but its Mp is flawed and that is the sole reason why so many people either sold it or are not playing it anymore. Melee, unbalanced weapons, ranking system etc. are extremely unbalanced.perfection1000

You're not serious either, are you? Why do I have the feeling that only the peons in this particular sub-forum will agree with that entire statement? I love CoD and I love Halo as much as the next guy, but do a little more comprehensive perusing of the interweb before you run off more mindless banter.

Yeah, no one is playing it at all...

It may not be needed right now for the PS3 but what is stopping Sony from releasing an IP similar to the IPTV launch from Microsoft? The fact of the matter is, to achieve DVR through a console, you are going to need the space. Although I don't agree with the cost of what Microsoft is offering, to launch what the want to launch is going to take more than 20GB of space. Who knows what will happen.

I thought I read somewhere that the game will be set in Liberty Cities like the handheld versions? Can't remember if it was any sort of official statement.

I have to say that we are discussing a subjective matter. Everyone's ears are different. You would be super surprised that many people can't hear a noticeable difference, even with blind testing. I'm ISF certified and working on my THX-HTT2 cert and consider myself to be "blessed" with being able to comprehend audio/video technology. Why do you think great studio engineers in the music and film industry are so few and paid so well? They have the "ear" (or eyes) for it. Not a whole lot can be learned. Hell, I buy esoteric wiring for my setup - spending well over $150 per foot for speaker wire and interconnects. Why? Fifteen thousand dollar speakers can hone a discernable difference going from even the top-of-the-line crap like Monster to my WireWorld speaker wires. The fact of the matter is, on paper, the differences in technology is extremely cut and dry. It's like comparing horsepower-to-horsepower on two different vehicles and debating which one is faster. On a lighter note, the fact that your wife can hear the difference is mind-boggling. My fiance couldn't tell the difference in picture quality going from a 720P DVD to 1080P HD-DVD. As for the topic, stick with a budget and some research. Most companies/retailers have 30 day return policies. Do your research on respected audiophile websites (there are tons) before you purchase. You also have to consider dimensions and dynamics of the room you are working on as they tend to be the most important variable in choosing a setup.

Last I checked, anti-aliasing and true HDR lighting isn't possible with any nVidia graphics card (like the PS3's RSX). That doesn't mean it isn't possible because HDR can be "faked." ATI has, and has been for the past few GPU generations, been the only card maker of the two to provide that.

Please note my sarcasim in the previous post. Here is the link for the ps3 at bestbuy.com

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;jsessionid=EZ0ULHLBLO451KC4D3JFAHA?skuId=999965800050007&st=playstation+3&type=product&id=pcmprd65900050007

Note the OUT OF STOCK and the NOT AVAILABLE FOR STORE PICKUP

laez
BestBuy.com does not actually produce, update, or allocate stock on the website per Best Buy. As been said before, Best Buy doesn't even run their own website and the information on it. Just like any other website, it is a source for information pertaining to product and the like. It's not a sure-fire way to check stock on a particular item. On another note, BestBuy.com has never had the Playstation 3's as a "Store Pickup" item - even when they were available at the store. There are many new products that we carry in store, in stock, that aren't available for pickup. Why? Because Best Buy doesn't want to "hold" products for customers that purchase online in hopes that they actually show up. A true testament to this would be to check our Geek Squad department where there are tons of product that online customers haven't picked up.

Since I work at BB, I could help Kilgore's cause and log into BB Toolkit and print off the stock availability of the PS3 in stores that are in a 100 mile radius of me or another board member. That would only settle a few scores - at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. The topic of the post is pertaining to the selling performance with the PS3. Having them in stock doesn't mean they aren't selling well, but should be a slight testament to providing irresputable evidence on the popularity of a product. We have PS3's in stock - three 60GB as of today. We are in an extremely high income area. We are a "Barry/Jill" store which caters to the high income, fashionable, got-to-have-the-latest-trend type of consumers. We have a high volume media department. We had 130 people standing outside our store three Sunday's ago, waiting to purchase the 37 Wii's we had in-store. We sell a lot of systems - plain and simple. The demand for the PS3's aren't as great as they were in November. They sure as heck aren't as great as the Wii demand. I work tomorrow at 11. I'll take a pic of the RSS screens in Toolkit showing the stock if it helps any.
