Is it me or is there twenty other game sites saying that the majority of the PS2 games will not be playable and a "broad range" of PS1 titles will be? If so, why is all this talk about 90% compatible? Everywhere I read, it is said that "...very limited range of PS2 games..."

Ken K:

"...the PS3 will feature backwards compatibility with PS and PS2 games from day one. I'm emphasizing this because, from what I hear, there are some platforms that haven't been able to completely do this. It's costly in terms of hardware, but we'd rather [invest] firmly on compatibility from the beginning, rather than to have issues later on."

I play Halo 2 a bit still and the hacking and modding have really come down a bit. Bungie has done something to settle the problems with cheaters. I now hover around a level 36 or so and I used to get modded by anyone over a 30 - not the case anymore. Anyway, the racial slurs and little kids (playing a M rated game) running their mouths is the only thing that bothers me. In regards to the topic, there will always be people out to cheat the system. People have no respect for other users trying to enjoy their online experience and have gameplay soiled so you can violate the XBL end-user license agreement twenty different ways.

Nothing is wrong with digital amps. Digital amplifiers are usually just interpreted wrong. You are right - there is no difference in sound between the analog and digital, but I'd put my money on the analog amplifier with a DA converter sounding much better. If you are looking for the best sound and least feedback or distortion, I would still go analog (properly). Low impedance is pretty important as it will give you a wider frequency response, something that the digital has a hard time doing. It's equally important to drive equipment with a source signal that is lower in impedance than the destination equipment's input impedance. After all, S/N ratio's are pretty important if you are looking for no feedback and low distortion in your home audio junk - which is kind of the important thing about spending money on decent equipment.

We are a 10 billion dollar industry. When was the last time you saw a Playstation or Xbox system have their own release party on such large, albeit lame, media outlets like MTV or VH1? Never. This generation is so far ahead of the last, it's not even funny.

Ah! I used to ICQ! Seriously, I used to Alt+Tab back-and-forth from ICQ to StarCraft till 6AM. Those were the days. Nothing like RTS, chips and salsa, my best friend, ICQ and a dial-up data connection!

Uhm. No. I refuse to play games without friends. The competition - you know, what gaming is about - is much more fun with friends. Also, when I want to play a competitive game and want to play to "win" then I rarely go solo. Why? Because I know how my friends play. Games like Rainbow Six or Counter Strike rely on experienced team work. I haven't had a MySpace profile for atleast a year but I've made many friends, including my girlfriend of over a year. It's also a way to keep in touch with classmates from high school or college. I have many buddies from my fraternity that I wouldn't still have friendships, or any discernable relationship, with if it wasn't for online community outlets like MySpace or Facebook. I agree. MySpace has changed from what it was meant to be. Saying that community is over-rated in gaming is complete nonsense. Why else do companies like MLG or WGC shell out millions of dollars for gaming contracts on teams that play competitively?

Actually, welcome yourself to the 21st century. There is a reason behind playing games online. It's building a community. It's about friends. What the hell do you think MySpace does? Oh wait. More for you to whine about cause your game didn't get the score you wanted it to. He's not a minority for "proclaiming the importance of online gaming." Isn't that one of the selling points of the PS3? FREE online. I beg to differ that quite a few million people that play or interact on online video games would disagree with you.

"get stuck" If you've played me in Halo 2, I've probably stuck you. I'll go 20 and 5. No shots fired. Stuck 20 times.

Verizon's FiOS, last I checked, is not one of Microsofts supported broadband services required for IPTV. So far, it's only AT&T's fiber optic service. It must be a company supported by Microsoft.

Who cares if it's a port? Who cares that it's coming out after the PS3 version? It will be the same game. It should be said that if any console can handle ports, the Xbox would be a much better candidate - that can't be said for the PS3.
