Their is nothing "elitist" about recognizing them, especially when your own company of choice, Nintendo, readily utilizes those two terms themselves on a daily basis. Ignoring those differences is nothing short of willful ignorance.ViewtifulScottRegardless of my avatar (who represents is one of the most beautiful characters in the Nintendo universe), I am not a Nintendo fanboy.

Well, it seems that Gametrailers was wrong that the platform genre will be revived after Super Mario Galaxy as this Banjo game flopped. It seems to us that Galaxy will be the best platformer this generation, as I do not see any serious contenders next year.
I nominate this game for "Most Disappointing of 2008."
It is interesting that on Gamerankings.com that nowhere is there a score from EDGE for Super Mario Sunshine. I may have confused EDGE with an obscure source (GameCritics) that gave 6/10.i thought they gave a '9' to super mario sunshine?Â

Also take note Edge review in whole numbers and have only given 6 or 5 10/10 over 14 years lolsolidgamerActually ten games received 10/10, seven of them in the last seven years.
Since most gaming publications are intended for young people, it is not surprising as most have short attention spans and a number or letter score catches their attention. Perhaps it would not be marketable for a publication to have written reviews without scores, or even in-depth written reviews that are pages long. Finally for everyone who is bashing EDGE because of its reviews, stop it. You are making yourselves look foolish by bashing something that you have never read nor understand. Read the reviews, not the score. EDGE's recent reviews will be available on its web site in a few weeks from now.Or maybe that's just a trite way of expecting games to be reviewed. Review scores are, quite possibly, the dumbest thing in the history of video game journalism. I can only venture to guess that the reason they keep them is so they do not offend the illiterate gamers.

Have ever read EDGE's reviews before ever saying this or understand that it uses a different rating standard than American publications? EDGE's and GameSpot's scores are not compatible with each other. Think of their standards like between using feet (English) and meters (metric), or miles and kilometers.I never cared for edge scores. Since they usually suck. After seeing a 6 for resistance their scores are even more laughable. I would have accepted an 8 the lowest. Even the fallout score is ridiculous.

If getting a 6/10 from EDGE is equal an 8.0 in GameSpot standards? And what about 7/10 which Animal Crossing, Fallout 3, Red Alert 3 got? 8.5 in GameSpot standards? What about 8/10 or 9/10? EDGE's and GameSpot's scores are not compatible.EDGE is harsh but they are mostly very fair. Reading their, usually well written, reviews gives a lot if insight into the scores. Also they use the full scale from 1-10 instead of the more popular 5-10. This means that a 6 from EDGE is still an very good game and shouldn't be compared to a 6 from gamespot.
