Your friend sounds biased at best, and stupid at worst. Company loyalty is silly, and has no place in PC hardware. It's all about your budget and the exact model you're looking at, and given your budget and the cards you're looking at, ATI is the way to go. ATI offers superior performance in most instances, especially when AA is enabled and DirectX 10 comes into play.

i keep changing from 9800gtx to 4850 than 4870 than 9800gtx

ok so my friend keeps saying ati licks ****, than i see some people saying 9800gtx is obselete :S. than i go back to wanting ati and there goes my friend again saying to go for 9800gtx cause nvidia kicks ati.

anyone wanna settle it before i start killing?

Vista is fine for most games. You need to make sure you have a decent amount of RAM (2 gb) before you get vista because it eats about 600mb when running pretty much no programs. KingRoyW
