dunno price tough http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=14560&page=7Elann2008

Yup, definitely, get the HD4870 if he can. I'm not sure what his budget is. You can get an HD4870 for as low as $250 nowadays. But $270 seems to be the going price. I'll waiti till it drops to like $230-240 and I'll buy one more. :P

i dont wanna go too high. here in aussie im paying $1300+ and im borrowing 1000 of that from mum O_O imagine her reaction if i ask for more O_O buty yeah im a nvidia person so....

lol with a video card liek you got id select a 1680x1050 monitor 22 inch at 200$. and if you put a 4870 instead then id select a 1920x1200 monitor 24 inch at 350$+ there some at 500$ Awsome qualtiy tough. marcthpro

ill quote what my friend said when i told him i wanted to get a 22":

The 9800GTX plays Crysis at a 22' resolution of 1680x1050 at around 27 frames per second. For smoothness in new games, the absolute minimum is 30fps, but preferably would be 40fps

If you play at a resolution of 1440x900 on a 19' inch screen, you'd get roughly 38fps with Crysis with the 9800GTX. So save some money, and go with a smaller screen! FPS dip depending on the action, and the number of bodier and textures etc, and you wouldn't want to dip past 27fps!

We usually recommend about 550W for single GPU configurations, it's a good rating to allow some breathing room and some capacity for upgrade. The HD 4850 according to the spec sheet requires at least a 450W PSU, so you should be fine. Do you have any info on that PSU? Manufacturer, or more importantly, the number of amps on the 12 volt rails?Marfoo

all i know is that its the psu comin with the case :S.

It may be able to run it today, but don't be surprised when components start failing down the road. First your memory will go, then probably your graphics card or your motherboard. Having enough power is important, but having clean, stable power is just as important in the long-term.kodex1717

well down the road ill have more money :) so ill be sure to upgrade it than
