I didn't play twin snakes, but I've seen some cutscene comparisson on youtube, twin snake's voice over ia pretty bad compared to original. I'm not saying it's terrible, but it's not as distinct and unique as the original.
also I'm not sure about snake's over the top moves. that kind of over the top moves fit Dante's character, but it didn't fit Solid Snake's character at all.
lots of games nowadays can be beaten as a rental if it's not rpg, doesn't mean that nobody should buy it. especially if the game is good.
I advise not to buy any games you already played on 360 (why would you want to do that anyway, unless you lost your 360 and want to have a copy for collection). from that list I'd say get Devil May Cry 4 and Burnout Paradise. wait for review for Dark Sector, personally I'm very interested with Dark Sector. save the rest of your money for upcoming games like maybe army of two (wait for review), hot shot golf 5, Condemned 2, Winning Eleven and of course GTA 4 is not that far from release
No, in my opinion you'd be making a mistake to buy resistance. Games only drop by like five bucks 1/2- 1 year. Even if it is scheduled for a price drop, I wouldn't get it if i were you. Theres nothing special about it, the shooting physics are messed up, graphics are mediocre. If you're gonna spend 50-60 bucks right now, buy vegas 2. Or just be smart and wait for Haze, MGS4 etc.
But, in all honesty Resistance just wasn't that good, no sense in buying one of the original PS3 starter shooters when there are new ones on the way.

I thought Resistance is a very good shooter. it's my favorite console fps that I like for the the core shooting gameplay. I like the Darkness for the story, and I love CoD4 for the set pieces. but Resistance is what I like the most for it's shooting mechanic, combined with its unique weapons, great level design and enemy placement and gameplay that encourage strategy in using your weapon than relying on your aiming skill with analog stick
