I'm not sure what you really mean TC. Modernisation has already taken place, or at least it has where the sane people live. For example, I was raised a Christian and I sure as hell wasn't taught that I would be allowed to sell my future daugter as a slave. Furthermore, I wasn't stoned when I worked in my local supermarket on the sabbath.

Religion carries with it it's benefits, it's the lack of common sense in people which turns it into something ludicrous or dangerous.

Syria is a truly frustrating situation. At least with Libya there was some general international consensus and Assad still has 20-30% support, many of whom are Shiite's and Christians and who are afraid of what the mainly Sunni rebels will do if they force Assad out.

You can't colonize a barren wasteland with four people and I assume next to nothing in terms of equipment. Perhaps if you sent 6 astronauts every six-months to a year, and spent 5-10 years prior landing equipment on the planet ready for the astronauts to assemble on arrival, then it'd be a little less insane.

If his been living illegally for 50 years it raises the question as to why he was so afraid of requesting citizenship. Perhaps he is hiding something. If he isn't and his just a regular soldier then of course he shouldn't be jailed for having been a Nazi and I'm not really sure he should be punished for having lived illegally if his elderly, on compassionate grounds.

Can't wait for this to come out in the UK. Should be good, though my understanding is that Lincoln is often seen through rose-tinted spectacles. I'll be interested to see if they have a more human portrayal of him as opposed to putting him on a pedestal.
