[QUOTE="TrevCubsOr21"]Both games are great, but to ask which is better is unfair considering that they are on different platforms! IMO every MGS game has gotten better, and I would recommend you purchase all 4 of them... you wont regret it!PSP107
I really dont understand how ppl pick MGS4 over MGS1 or any other MGS games. I mean the game is about 16 hrs but if i subtract the cutscenes and the fact i was playing around alot, the game play lenth is 5hrs
As time passes the shock of the newness will wear off and people will come to see MGS4 in a true light. Actually if you visit many MGS boards you will see it has already begun. It was the same way with MGS3 when it released. Everyone thought it completely destroyed the others, but as time went on people started to notice that for every step it took forward, it took a step back as well. Because of this there is no absolute best MGS, just preferences and thats it. Each game in the series has its strengths and weaknesses. The series doesnt progressively get better in all aspects as a few seem to believe. The majority of fans already see MGS4s story as worst in series unanimously. Not that its bad, it just doesnt stand up to the rest of the series. As for gameplay that will always be up to the individual. I prefer MGS2 for having the best AI, very responsive controls and level layout that melds perfectly with the gameplay mechanics. Every move has its use yet no individual move is overpowered a la MGS3/4 one slam stun. I also enjoy that MGS2 gives the player different stealth scenarios apart from sneaking from point a to point b. Also the fact that extreme offers a challenge that MGS3 and 4 lack. Others prefer MGS3 because it ditches the on your toes stealth action for a more campy feel and the open environments add a lot of choice for the player. While I feel the food/cure/backpack systems were needless tack ons others enjoy them. It is hard to deny MGS3 has some amazing boss fights. Some prefer MGS4 for the westernized control scheme and overall simplified gameplay with more emphasis on action. Those were turn offs for me though. I will admit that the octocam is definitely an improvement over the MGS3 camo system and that cqc was much more refined. Like I said though, there is no wrong answer, each game has its own individual quirks that appeal to different people.
