Well, Mass Effect 2 isn't a FPS since it's third person..but it's a shooter, especially if you play as a soldier, and it has a great story and is usually classified as a RPG, even though it's a mix really. The PC version is the best too.
Games are shorter because so many focus on the online multiplayers instead. Also there are so many FPS games now, and FPS games tend to be pretty short. I still think RPG and adventure games are still good lengths..
I bought it awhile ago off steam when it was $5 and played it today for the first time, I am getting a lot of freezing/stuttering and it's almost unplayable. I'm assuming the game is up to date since it's through Steam.
You know..the family that buys a Wii for entertainment when they have a party? My cousins recently bought one, they are much older, both retired teachers. They bought the Wii bundle and bust it out for parties/relatives getting together for the holidays. Other than the rare party..it gets no use. Sure, it's fun to laugh at each other for dancing around looking like an idiot, but they don't plan to play any real games for it.
I agree with the OP, but I think it's more because I'm getting older. I'm 21 now and I'm having a hard time getting into a lot of games. I used to LOVE completing games when I was younger, now I find myself getting bored of games rather quickly. Games just seemed so amazing when I was younger, they just don't have the same affect now that I am older I guess.
To the OP : Are you older as well? I bet this is the case for you too..wish I was still younger haha! Everything just seemed more amazing then...movies as well.
