I might buy a 3DS if they dropped the price to $79.99, and then dropped the price for all their 1st party titles to $9.99. Actually come to think of it, maybe not even then.
If the NX will be powered by the Tegra X2 like the rumors point out, then at least it will have the potential to be far more enticing to 3rd party and indy developers. ARM is the most popular microprocessor architecture on the planet, and the Parker chip by reports can almost match the total TFLOPs of the original Xbox One if it's dropped in some form of SLI with it's docking station counterpart. Just look at the specs of Nvidia's Drive PX2.
But even if it doesn't get 3rd party or indy support, it still needs a 1st party IP title released at least once per quarter so users don't feel abandoned as they did with the Wii U. That won't be difficult to accomplish if Nintendo grow some balls and outsource development to other studios.
Another mistake they could correct is finally getting on board with Sony's and Microsoft's subscription services. Nintendo could make a lot of money and get a lot more respect from their fans if they offered promotions to their customers for an optional annual service (free virtual console games, plus periodic discounts on NX games).
So the Wii U is getting a port of another port and charging $10 for it? Nice one Nintendo. You might actually consider demonstrating some good will towards the Wii U users you've alienated with title droughts for this entire generation by unlocking every first-party virtual console title for free. It's still not enough to compensate for your abysmal support for the Wii U, but it's a good way to apologize to your loyal fans.
I think September will be a busy month for gaming reveals. I imagine we might get more info on PSVR when Sony unveils Neo and the slim. And now that NVidia has unveiled the Tegra X2 (Parker), I anticipate Nintendo will be announcing the NX at the Tokyo games show. That is, if the rumors of them using Parker SoC are true.

Scorpio sounds great and all, but if MS is really trying to expand their "Xbox family", then I'm hoping they'll attempt to counter Nintendo's NX handheld by enabling the latest Surface Pro tablets to play Xbox games. After all, the NX is supposed to output games with graphical fidelity similar to the Wii U while being powered by a Tegra X2. I suppose it's not outside the realm of possibility for MS engineers to design an Xbox app for Surface Pro that reboots to the OneCore OS - thereby eliminating all of the Windows 10 driver overhead and allowing more system resources to go towards the games. It would be yet another system spec for developers to design to, but it would be pretty awesome to play Halo, Gears of War, and Forza on the go.
