WOW, im really really confused, im sure many other people are as well.

Some people are saying that the 1080i issue has been fixed from updates, games like "Resistance Fall of Man" and "VF5" are able to play in 1080i.

First of all, can anybody else confirm this, is there a link? i know i've read somewhere that VF5 and sonic are able to play in 1080i, however, i've heard that sonic was actually suppose to be made in 1080p (like the 360 version) and that they screwed up the info on the back of the game. Does anyone else know if other games besides the ones mentioned now can be played in 1080i?

[QUOTE="Ryeferd"][QUOTE="tsr__"]

Hey guys im all new with this HDTV stuff this is my tv right here:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&kw=TO51HC85&is=REG&Q=&O=productlist&sku=391844

look under specifications

HDTV - 540p, 1080i

im planning to get an HDMI cable, but is it actually neccessary with this tv and will it make a difference? i heard that the hdmi cable is only good for 1080p...but mines 1080i

thx!:D

you dont really need an HDMI cable unless you plan on watching blu-ray, or HD-DVD movies. without HDMI, they will be converted to 480p

Thats not necessarily true. It all depends on the source that you are using. You can still get 1080i with component cables, but it wont be as good of a signal as an HDMI. You componenet cablesgo through an anaolog conversion where your HDMI transfers pure digital to digital. Although, most people dont notice a difference. If you are going to be using the PS3, you pretty much have to use HDMI because their are no ccomponent outputs. The only reason I could see you know wanting to use an HDMI is because A)the cables are a little expensive, or B) the source that you are using only has component. Bottem line, use and HDMI when you can. They are smart little cablles and do more than you think. For instance, the HDMI version 1.3 will automatically take your widescreen picture and zoom it in so that you wont have black bars on the top and bottem of your HDTV. This is caused because most movies are filmed with the 2.35 to 1 ratio, and most TV's are going to be 1.87 to 1. So your HDMI can pick that up and crop it so you dont have that. Its a two way communication between the device and your TV. Good stuff.

hey thx for all this, so i guess the hdmi cable will make a big difference for movies. but i was also wondering if the hdmi cable will make a difference with the ps3 games? i really dont get this 540p,720p, 1080i stuff. all i kno is that my tv displays 540p,1080i.....im just concerned because i see a lot of people talking about 720p, which my tv doesnt have. so whats the differnce between my 540p and 720p? and is there a huge differnce in graphics? and will that hdmi cable make a differnce in graphics with my tv?
