I say it every time.. stagger your dang sticks playstation! If the controllers were made smarter (staggered sticks), they would be far more comfortable to hold and I would be interested in the system. I have nothing against the PS3 or its games either, but I never bought one simply because their inline sticks are so dang clumsy.
The promise of "co-op" is what sucked me in.. but little did I know that by "co-op" they meant you and a friend could play 2 maps... not 2 game-modes, but 2 total maps.. and one of the two maps is broken (the game hangs up on an AI's turn and you are forced to quit the game). The co-op upgrade system could have been fun but they needed to include at least 5-10 functional maps with some variation between play-throughs (as it is, the exact same enemies spawn in the exact same places every time. The combat is actually enjoyable if you ask me. The AI is smart enough to typically take cover or try to flank you. The 'line of sight' and hit chances are usually fair/realistic (these types of games always have bad moments in this area, but it seems to be good most of the time). If XCOM would have just made co-op for their game, this wouldn't have had to happen...
@rleva I'm an outsider looking in because I'm Canadian, but I'm assuming that a lot of this is just people sharing their opinions on subjects they know nothing about. I'm sure some of these politicians are good business-people, or know lots about diplomacy or whatever, but they have no experience with video games or behaviorism. If they just stuck to commenting on areas where they had expertise, there would be waaay less crap floating around the airwaves.
Another reason I don't agree with this is because of personal experience.. My dad doesn't game at all.. However, if we see a graphic death in the news, or see a football player's leg break in a replay, etc. I get just as much of a gut-wrench as he does. If video games are supposedly desensitizing, I shouldn't care about real-world violence right? Or at least care less about it than my non-gaming father, right? There's simply no logic to it. Hunting is a perfectly acceptable pass-time to most people (which is a good thing IMO), but it is far more desensitizing than any virtual violence could ever be.
I not only play video games, I listen to metal music too! According to all these stereotypes, you might as well just shoot me now to protect my neighbors!
looks fun.. I'll probably get Aliens:CM first though.. then, if Borderlands ups their level cap, I'll play that with my buds for a while again.. and then, I'll likely pick this up.. lots of good CO-OP coming out! I like it!
@nborst um.. you had a point until you said that this was the most violent-free era of human existence... That is incredibly false.. More people were killed in the 20th century than in all human history combined before it.. Part of that is due to how much bigger the overall population of the planet is, but even percentage-wise, our world is more violent now than ever before. However, that trend was on the move far before violent video games started being made. And there is no evidence to support that the violence in our culture increased due to the popularization of said games.
