Only 7 more days until gaming nirvana... For you guys.

Ok, many of you may know that Super Mario Galaxy is going to be released in about 7 days, on November 12th (My Gamestop is getting it on the 13th). Anyone who owns a Wii will most likely take a look, and if not, you are a fool. I have played the game myself at Gamestop, and it truly should be the new definition of fun in a real dictionary. No joke either. Simply running around in the worlds of Galaxy is a joyous experience, and it really brings back the sense of wonder that I've not experienced since the release of Zelda: The Wind Waker back in 2003, and this was only the first main area of the game, nevermind the other 40 or so galaxies said to be in it. If you can get your hands on the game as a demo, definetly try it out.

But anyway, onto the title of this blog. Most of you will probably get the game and immediately start pounding away at the quest on November 12th, its release date. Fine, but if you are still in school, like me, it really will suck to go to bed the night, only to have to go to school the next day, further delaying your time playing the game. I first experienced this with Kingdom Hearts 2. I was going crazy all throughout school the day after I got it. I just wanted to get home and play the damn thing. So, the next huge game I got was Twilight Princess for Wii, and I didn't repeat the mistake I had made with KH2. Instead, I saved the game for the first weekend that I had it, and played it with NEARLY zero sleep, ALMOST nonstop. I actually ended up getting about 29 hours in on that weekend alone. See, no interruptions like you would have on a school night.

So, of course, you can tell I am going to use that same method with Mario Galaxy. Save the game for the first weekend that I own it... Except with a slight twist. This time, I simply am NOT going to sleep, at all. I will do my very, very best to keep awake for those full two days of the weekend of November 17th, and 18th. My mom couldn't care less about it, although I may have to sneak in a few "Game Fuel" bottles, tape Mario's face over Master Chief's, and then drink them whenever I get tired. I would need to sneak them because I already know she would not approve of me artificially keeping myself awake.

Of course, the hardest thing about this method of playing a hotly anticipated game is actually waiting it out until that first weekend that you play it. When I used this method to play Twilight Princess, I felt like I was killing myself more and more all week. Just depriving myself of playing a game I had waited so long for. So that's why the best thing to do is have someone hide the game on you so that you don't cave in, and you don't play the game before your weekend of glory.

It's incredible for me to be saying this, but I actually am more hotly anticipating this than I did for Twilight Princess. TP was a great game, but actually getting a chance to preview Galaxy before I own it really pushed it over the edge, making it more anticipated for me than TP ever was. I even signed up for the weekend of Mario off from work (I had to if I wanted all this weekend to play it. I didn't have a job back when I played TP the first time). Well, after the Galaxy weekend is up, maybe I'll put up a blog with my general impressions of it (if I'm not busy playing it the next week after school), which will almost undoubtedly be awesome. So, have fun all of you Wii owners when you play it in about 7 days! I still got 11 days to wait...

New NiGHTS trailer makes me feel all fuzzy inside.

[video=Jnw6xjH45b8KvzDc]

Some of you may know that I'm a big fan of NiGHTS ever since I got my chance to play it on Saturn. This means that waiting for the new Wii NiGHTS game is killing me! Luckily this brand new trailer is definetly something for me to drool over for a while. And it just makes me feel all happy, too!

The new DS Lite! Preeeeetty

Yup, so I got a new DS. Yeah, I already had a white DS Lite, but the touch screen became so damaged that it actually got difficult to play Elite Beat Agents, the Ouendan games, and other touch screen intensive games. I sold the old one to my cousin for 20 bucks. So this time around, I'll be more careful with the new DS. Take a look. This color just came out in a bundle with Brain Age 2, so I even got a new game out of it.

What?! Black DS Lite came out months ago!!

Aha! But actually, it's black and "crimson"!!

PS. I go back to school tomorrow. First day of high school for me... But that doesn't matter, what does matter tomorrow is that I getMetroid Prime 3! After I get a bitof time to play it for the first session, I'll post my gut reactions toward the controls, graphics and such. My mom will be picking it up for mewhile I'm at school. Also, new issue of Nintendo Power came today. SM Galaxy front cover (very exciting!).But guess, just... just guess what Metroid got for a rating in the issue. Just take a guess.

PSS. Protoman! HELL YEAH!

New blog image set up.

Hey guys. So I just finished making some new images for my blog profile. I've always liked seeing people's profiles where the blog header image, and the profile banner is somehow connected, so I decided to do that for myself. I like how it came out. Slippy has always been the most annoying of the StarFox team. Oh, and also, I think I might be doing a collection show off some time soon just showing my random gaming swag. Keep checking back for that. Thanks.

Oh man, I can't wait for this game...

I bet you guys are expecting me to say something like Mario Galaxy or Smash Bros. (I do want those, but this isn't about them), but the game I'm talking about is bound to be a sleeper hit, and is gonna be an insta-buy for me. The game is called Endless Ocean for Wii (Forever Blue in Japan), and it looks amazing (especially graphically. It's very pretty).

A lot of you probably don't know what I'm talking about, and if you do, you are probably thinking, "what a loser", and I don't care. This game just intrigues the hell out of me. I've always been a fan of games when you have no objective, just explore, explore, explore, do whatever you want, and that is, for once, exactly what the game is. You just swim around in the ocean, and find new species of fish. I'm sure some people find that stupid, but the idea of running into a monstrous whale, lumbering out of the shadows of a sunken boat, and slowly, mysteriously, lurching away, leaving me in awe just makes me giddy with excitement. It's basically a scuba sim, but it just seems so visceral and relaxing.

Aside from it being my kind of relaxing game, the fact that it has an online co-op component is just icing on the cake. Of course, since it is a Wii game it will have a crappy friend code interface for online play, but for such a fun little experience, to come upon the mysteries of the sea with a friend across the state, or the country, or the world, will be totally worth the hassle of getting someones friend code. When the game comes out, I will definetly be puting my code here on Gamespot.

The game comes out in October here in the states, and it came out today in Japan with an excellent score in Famitsu of 35 out of 40. With the online play, being able to import your MP3s for in-game music, and relaxing, visceral gameplay, this is a must buy for me when it hits the US. I hope you all pick it up to.

Edit: Oh man!! I just found this on the internet. This is what I'm freaking talking about. This is the kind of stuff that gets me so excited. What if you were to see this in real life. You would be scared s**tless! You can just live that experience virtually in this game. Man, this is awesome!!

Lotta stuff to talk about.

Hey, Gamespot. Lately I havn't been able to sign on frequently, and that is because I have been attending computer camp all week, and tomorrow is my last day. It's actually been rather fun, even though I wasn't all for the idea at first. Initially I knew that I would be making my own game while I was there, but what I didn't know was that there would be that many of my kinds of people there.

I really didn't think the people there would know their stuff that well. If I brought up a topic during the breaks each day of camp, a lot of them would know just how to respond, and would actually know what I was talking about. I don't think the instructors thought we would know much about gaming either. For example, the instructors all made up these stupid little nicknames for themselves, which I found a little corny, but one of them said, "You guys can call me 'Guybrush Threepwood'" and immediately I spouted, "Monkey Island" and some of the instructors looked at me in surprise. That felt really good when the one instructor that would urge me to participate in group outdoor activities looked over at me. (I'm not so keene on outdoor play. At least there wasn't much of it)

On to the whole part of making our own games and eveything. This was certainly the best part of the whole experience. To make our games we used a program called Multimedia Fusion 2, and it was great. Simple to use, great design, and it was just a generally good experience. Thats not to say that explaining it wouldn't take forever, but stil, it worked well. So I'll just get right into what I made for a game. If you guys have been keeping up with me, or have just seen my profile banner, you might know that I very much like the game NiGHTS for the Sega Saturn. I sort of based my game around that, in that your character is able to fly around freely.

The goal of each level is simply to grab the key where ever it may be... And that's about it. Yeah, it's really simple, but quite a challenge, seeing as I made it a five level game, and getting hit a single time in any of those levels will send you back to the beginning of the entire game. The most notable level would have to be a scrolling level in which you must fly away from a flying whale chasing you. There are clouds in your way that you can bump into, and instant kill enemies acattered about. Making it to the portal at the end of the level will send you to the final boss, a dark verison of the character you played as in the game. I blatantly took that idea from Metroid because I have been playing those games a lot lately, and I'm sorry for that Nintendo. Anyway, the twist with my game compared to the other campers games was that every single character was drawn by me, and I didn't use a single sprite that the program provides for you. The instructors were impressed with my character art, and that made me feel good.

Tomorrow is the last day of the camp, and it is no longer for working on games. All of our games were burned onto discs at the end of the day today (thankfully, I finished right at the last second), and tomorrow we will be able to bring them home. What tomorrow is really for though, is to showcase our games to all the parents, which should be cool. Once I get the disc with my game on it, I will hopefully be able to put it on the internet, and you guys can all try it.

I guess I'll just dedicate one paragraph to smaller news. A couple of nights ago, I finally beat Metroid Prime for Gamecube. I have to say that I really didn't enjoy it much, and that the final stretch of the game was super tedious. Although, I have beaten Metroid Zero Mission twice now, and I love it. I plan on never playing Metroid Prime 2, but I do wish to try out 3, and see how it is for a good FPS on Wii.

I guess that's it for now. Please comment, and thanks for reading.

Collection Quick Post: DS again

I just had to repost them. Last time, in my handheld collection pics, I had 13 DS games. Now, I'm already up to 19. That's a lot of DS games for me in that short period of time. Here ya go!

Oh... And I got the 20th anniversary GB Micro. The only reason I got it is simply because it's the limited edition one, and it wll be rare one day. It's alright. I just got a new GBA game tonight, so I guess I'll play it on the Micro. (Go to my collection to see what GBA game it is!)

Most Anticipated E3 2007

So, this year's E3 is going through a lot of changes. Mostly in scale. Almost taking E3 back to the days when it was a smaller crowed, venue, and a smaller amount of attention. Despite that, it has huge potential to be the greatest E3 yet. It's the first E3 yet to have all the next-gen systems out of the gate, and ready for some big titles into 2008.

The question is, which of those titles are you looking forward to? Here are my picks.

First, my five that havn't exactly been fully announced yet, or that havn't had any sort of hint at being created at all, but I hope to see as surprises at E3.

1. Animal Crossing Wii

2. StarFox Wii

3. Wii Sports 2

4. Samba De Amigo Wii? Huuhh? Huuuh?? You never know! And it is perfect for it.

5. Last, a HUUUUUGE long shot... How about a brand new Wii Zelda game. Maybe next year. Or the year after :(

Now, for the 5 games that have actually been announced.

1. Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)

2. Mario Galaxy (Wii)

3. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams (Wii)

4. No More Heroes (Wii)

5. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)

There you have it. My most anticipated games of E3. Yeah, I know they are all Wii, AND THAT'S NOT BECAUSE i'M BIAS!... It's because the Wii simply has so many games I reeeeally, reeeeeally want. Post what you're waiting for in the comments.
