@nl_skipper: Seriously, I can't understand this argument. Just because a game doesn't have an abundance of options doesn't mean it's shallow or bad. How many game modes does Super Smash Bros have? What about Street Fighter? What about Dota?
@Hoski0999: Nobody complains when Dota does it, why is it a problem here? Regardless of that, there are mutators that dramatically affect the way the game is played.
But even without that, the skill ceiling on this game is sky-high, which is why people keep coming back. There is always room to get better, and not in a BS way where you can control the map by getting all the best guns or whatever. Being able to determine where a flying ball will be seconds in advance, and then being able to fly to it, and then being able to angle it to where you want it to go - that's incredibly challenging, and incredibly satisfying. And the drive to do so keeps thousands coming back for more.
This is probably my most played game of the year, over even Monster Hunter, Bloodborne, and The Witcher. It absolutely deserves to stand alongside them.
Honestly, I only go to IGN for their reviews of episodes and such, so I'm all for you guys doing other forms of entertainment. I'm sure that's an unpopular opinion, but there it is.
That being said, make sure to separate them entirely. If people want gaming news, that's all they should see. If people want TV/Movie news, that's all they should see. If they want both, well, they can do some extra clicking to go between tabs. Don't throw them all in one news feed, it's too cluttered.
@7tizz: The PS4 isn't focusing on first-party games because it doesn't need to. It's unfortunate, but expected. It's the same exact situaton that occurred during the PS3's life. If you can't get people to buy it because it's what everyone's playing on (i.e. the more popular console), get people to buy it for the abundance of exclusives. The Xbox One has more exclusives coming because it needs to have more, just like the PS3. Otherwise, the console is dead.
@RogerioFM: To be fair, you do have to worry about whether or not the game will come to PC, and if it will even run on your computer. GTA V took 2 years to make it to PC, and while this game seems to be a fairly nice port, 4 was a mess. And then there are games like Arkham Knight.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely see the benefits of PC gaming. I'm just saying there are pros and cons to both sides.
