[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]UE3 is a terrible engine for devs, except for Epic themselves. Look at all the mediocrity that's come out of the engine. Stranglehold, Hour of Victory, Blacksite: Area 51, and so on. It gave Silicon Knights a ton of trouble in the development for Too Human. I believe SK and Denis Dyack. The engine is total garbage and that's why you see devs making their own proprietary engines this generation. I'm not blaming it on PS3 or the devs who bought into the engine. I'm blaming Epic for their pile of mediocrity they've made.sadikovic

Actually epicgames dont even know how to work their own engine lol, the only good optimized game ive played with unreal engine 3.0 is bioshock on pc, ut3 demo runs like complete ass in comparison.

Area51 isnt that bad, it's generic but hey atleast it's another fps to play more the better, hour of victory now that game is trash.

the unreal engine 3.0 pretty much is a piece of crap, but when in real dev's hands it's alright lol.

LOL I call BS on this one!

It runs superbly on my 7600GT on my secound PC and runs stunningly on pretty much every card tested on it.

I dont know what specs you have but assuming everthing else is as good as your GPU you cannot be having problems.

7800 GTX 256 mb bfgtech 460/1300

650 watt silverstone psu

asus a8n32 sli deluxe

2gb pc3200 corsair xms

200 gb 7200 rpm ata133 drive.

athlon 64 socket 939 single core 2.4 ghz 3800+

Ifi run everything on max 1280x1024 fps=20-30 fps=crap.

Have you updated drivers?...turned off VSYNC?

EDIT: Im not even going to take your word for it, I assume you have a PC problem, since Iv run it on a 7600GT, 1GB RAM, AMD 3200+ and got the same performance as you.

I call bs on you, how do i have pc problems? when all my other games match up to website benchmarks on 7900 gt's? in other games?

i just reformated like 3 times updated all drivers, it's the game poorly optimized.

So you are running view distance on 100%? texture detail on 5 and world detail on 5 with a 7600 gt at 1280x1024? i call bullcrap!!!!!!!!!! bs bs bs

LOL ok, PCgamer dude go in to the PC forums and post up your spec's and results.

"poorly unoptimized" ...

FYI: the game doesn't even max out

3.....is the highest texture's and world detail, 4,5 havent been put there yet they are just pointless go ahead and compare a 5 v 3 in texture.

As for me being BS... :| yeah ok Im just gonna going in to work tommorow. (PC repair shop) And not build and put together PC's. instead Ill make coffee for the rest of the staff that I supervise.

See, my graphics options on 5 texture 5 world? 100% distance view?

My res is purposly set on 1024x768 for gamespot pic, but yes the game is poorly optimized.

put everything to max load up game 1280x1024 and show me your framerate at your main menu.

I was never so mindful and stressed over graphics and performance until I got into PC gaming. Just when I thought gaming was meant as a hobby and as something that can entertain and relax you, PC gaming has delivered more tempers and tantrums than any other form of medium on the bloody planet.

When I finally good a good "high-end" brand newrig (because everyone has to start somewhere) for $2000in January 2005, I find out I could only runthe best of games on medium-high performance for that year, if that. Here in 2007, Bioshock struggles to run on the lowest settings possible, the Unreal 3 demo looks worse than Quake 1 on my computer and for some strange reason, Half Life 2 and CS Source are running slower than usual, even though I could previously run those games on high settings. How could someone new to tech (and tech-terms)possibly get into gaming when there's so much bitmap jargon thrown around?

It doesn't stop there. Turns out I have to update Steam every bloody month (and my internet isn't the best), and hl2.exe and my "video card" keep freezing my goddam CS game at infrequent times. When I FINALLY got rid of that error, some 0x004 memory couldn't be found and my game ceased to function. "Try re-installing" some nerd would tell me."Did you try registry decycling metaphoring?" What the **** is that? I just want to have some fun - not translate the bloody matrix! "delete file 0467.iamerror in your maixverty folder". Where the **** is that?

The problem is that there are too many things that can (and in my case, will) go wrong. When your not fixing errors, your updating and getting new patchesto fix erorrs the developers didn't bother to sort outwhen the game released. Loading times are a pain in the arse, especially with multiplayer games since you have to download maps to get any real value in the game. I've been installing the games for a bloody hour, and I STILL need to install crap?

Half the bloody challange of PC gaming is getting the damn game to work and run!

To run any more games smoothly I need to spend hundreds of dollars on a CPU upgrade. I might as well get a 360. And in sheer frustrating at PC gaming, I hope oto my PS2 and play Tekken 5 - no updating. No installing. 10 seconds until I'm at a friggen menu screen.

Crysis can shoot itself in the head as gullable PC geeks are happy to dish out money for yet-another shooter to run remotelty smooth. I'm sick of waiting, I'm sick of upgrading - now I'm gone off to play a lag free, maximum-settings round of Melee.

Optusnet

CPU'S RARLY NEED upgrading maybe every 5 or 6 years, only thing really ever needing upgrading is the gpu, about every 3-4years that's like a consoles lifespan nowdays, plus you can get videocards kinda cheap mid-highend.

Its teh 3 year curse!

NES, SNES both had great libraries. The N64 was the opposite, basically having to live off first party titles.

Seems like Sony is going to have to live off firsty party and second party titles aswell. I doubt any third party developers are going to try to figure out the "power of the cell" when the Xbox 360 is easier to dev for. I love Sony..but im not a blind fanboy.

xDonRobx

Sony has some good devs, incognito aka singletrac twisted metal developers, they have a few others, didnt they just buy out zipper interactive? they good, socom is good.

That's what microsoft lacks first party games or atleast cool ones or variety.

The ps3 might not be doing so great, but i seriously doubt they'd pull the console this early, i think the ps3 will eventually do great.

I believe the problem is memory shortages, trying to free up more resources.

Ps3 would of been better with just 512 mb unified XDR memory or GDDR3.
