I need to play more of the FF games and I'm sure the story alone would have me liking IXLightning__EvilThe story is fantastic. FFIX has some great characters and a great villian too. Kuja does quite a few things to make you hate him, much like Kefka. I loved Freya and vivi. They were both excellent. Zidane was a great character too...and not girly or emo. I loved that about him

[QUOTE="cjimrun"][QUOTE="DrAwesomeMD"][QUOTE="Yonathin3155"][QUOTE="Lightning__Evil"]That whole style just didn't seem to fit final fantasy too me. Because honestly it is the only game like that in the main series titles. I didn't play crystal chronicles but it looks like that would've had a similar style.DrAwesomeMD
That's because IX and Crystal Chronicles have the same artist.
Anyway, I like the art style of IX. But apparently that's just me.
It was a little jarring at first, but it grew on me after a bit.
I loved all of it. They're bigger, more detailed versions of classic character archetypes.
Oh, me too. It just took me a bit of time to get used to it after VII and VIII.
FFVII is what took me a while to get used to. Prior to that. I was used to IV, V and VI on emulators. I played FFVII and went "Wait what? How is this Final Fantasy? It does not look like Final Fantasy."[QUOTE="valereth-1"][QUOTE="DreadDLordD"][QUOTE="Balmane"]That's because older games were incredibly hard.

Too much grinding for me in III for that exact reason! But nothing can beat the indestructibility of having a four dragoons! There are no dragoons in FFI :|
Do you need reading glasses? I was talking about III! As in Number "3" Not the American version that was of 6 or any other misconception. If III was that hard I'm probably gonna be perpetually stuck on I and II for longer!I was talking about Final Fantasy I:| Why did you randomly bring up 3?
I never beat FFIII because my DS decided to break
[QUOTE="Balmane"][QUOTE="magitekk"]It sort of irks me that you guys are straight up insulting an officer (in this case, valereth).
I mean...that's only okay for me to do.
magitekk
Their not insulting him, they are criticising him for his harsh opinions of FFVIII :P
He just said that FFV had a higher calling, sorta.
And it does. I said it simply because I was told this thread was something I could not come up with a counter to. Well, I did. Two universes in two dimensions.[QUOTE="Balmane"]That's because older games were incredibly hard.

[QUOTE="valereth-1"][QUOTE="angelbless"][QUOTE="DrAwesomeMD"][QUOTE="valereth-1"]You would not be able to get through the NES version of that game with that party. I am certain. you would get slaughtered. You have to mix it up.
And somehow they all require far more strategy than *paradigm shift* *attack* *attack* *attack* *paradigm shift*
Balmane
Seeing as how people have beaten the game using a party of white mages, I'd say you're wrong.
And yet what you just described is more strategic than just attacking over and over with no switching at all like in I-IX.
I played the NES version of FF1, I failed misserably trying to pay for those highly overpriced inns :P lol.. So I had to stick to the PS1 version :P. But I dont remember my part, so I cant say too much :?
The PSone version is significantly easier than the NES version. By a lot. That's because older games were incredibly hard.
Modern games are too damned easy though. The NES version of FFI was a lot closer to Dungeons and Dragons than any that has come since it
