@joshrmeyer: But if I'm not wrong there is a steam page for Nier, and my region doesn't have it, same with MGR. Maybe somehow Platinum games are blocked (?)
@7tizz: Ok, lets take the Witcher 3 as an example, without a multiplayer, CD Projekt Red know they have to stuff the game full of content so that people don't wizz through the game quickly once they finish the main quest, and guess what? It's filled with a buttload of content with interesting quests. Doom has multiplayer mode that is partially outsourced, and most of the updates they make focus on multiplayer, and I can't enjoy that because no one is playing it.
It's not really about the outsourcing the work, its the idea that the devs can point to multiplayer as an excuse to extend the playtime of a game, rather than focus on replayable content that doesn't rely on people being online. Of course you don't have this issue because you probably live in a timezone where everyone plays every game, for me where no one basically plays multiplayer unless its a big multiplayer focused game, it's frustrating, and in fact thats how multiplayer makes me lose value in a full triple A game. Imagine no one is playing that multiplayer mode, would you count that as lost value?
Additional content in forms of interesting quests, new weapons and enemy, new game mechanics that could've been made knowing they have to extend the amount of hours doesn't count as value?
@7tizz: I much prefer a game without multiplayer, means the devs focus on making the game long lasting without requiring anyone else online. I have little to no reason to go back to UC4 since no one in my time zone plays that.
