weekly entry #6 i think

its deffinately been longer than a week since my last entry. a lot has happened in the last month in the world of gaming. i'm about 110 games into my season in mvp. the season is going great. i fell behind about 5.5 games of seatle and the angels. now im .5 games back of seatle. durazo is leading the league in homers and zito is leading in cy young votes. i cant wait to finish the season so i can start all my offseason stuff, signing players, trading, make some cap room, extend contracts, spring training, mini games. i'm pretty anxious to see how my players improve or not improve. as of right now, byrnes is having a bad year and might loose some skill points, but it should be made up by some of the other players who are doing better than they should be. i havent been playing grand turismo a lot lately. not for any reason besides mvp. i'm really into mvp and try to play a game with every chance i get. i'm between 10 and 11% done with the game. i have about 25 cars as of right now. i'm not going to sell any of the cars i win, because i want to see how many i accumulate when i complete 100% of the game. this game should take me quite some time beat completely. robert let me borrow minish cap but i havent played it yet. i ordered my psp yesterday from ebgames.com and should be getting it tomorrow. i dropped 400 on it, so i hope its worth it, but i really have no doubts its going to be off the hook. my first accessory i buy will be the hard case made by logitech and the headphones by logitech, both are 19.99. halo 2 has been off the hook lately. they've announced a total of 9 new maps coming to halo, starting at the end of this month through the end of summer. they will cost 19.99 for all of them if you buy the disc. i've been doing really good lately....putting up mid teens in kills almost every game. and hitting 20+ kills at least once a night. i'm usually leading my team in kills about 50% of the time. thy're also coming out with a 2 on 2 game mode. me and k-dawg gotta hit this up when it comes out. if they had this when we first started playing then we would have torn everybody up...no doubt. god of war is sure hitting the world by storm. its being said it could be one of the best console games ever made. i cant wait to give it a try but i will probably wait a little while to get it only because i have 3 pretty new games, a new system coming with 2 more new games. its just too overwhelming and i want to be sure i get a good experience with all the games and dont cut any of them short. i have already put windwaker on pause and i'm over crowded as it is.

a little non gaming stuff, a's have started off 0-1 and harden has just been scratched for a finger blister...not good. vegas was off the hook, take me to the candy shop baby cuz i have one hell of a sweet tooth and theres plenty of candy in vegas. vegas is my new candy shop and i cant wait to go back with my boys again. 3 amigos had som good laughs. holdem is going really good. i'm taking som big measures in improving my game. i'm getting ready to really step up and be a solid player who can dominate tables. i'm getting myself ready for all the games that will be in the future at bay 101, robert's home games, and hopefully i can participate in gary's wosp tournament. each night for 10 nights across 10 months, 10 players will put in 100 bucks. after the 10 months whoever has the most tournament points gets the 10k and represents the group in the WOSP 2006. the winnings will be split amongst the 10 people.

weekly entry 5

i've had mvp for about 10 days now. its hard to believe its been 10 days already, it honestly seems like i've had it for about a week or less. i've played 46 games in my dynasty and i'm 4 games into owner mode. i really wanted to do owner mode at first but it seemed a bit overwhelming and confusing at first, so instead of taking my time, i jumped right into a season. i was stuck ina delemna because i didnt know if i should start over in owner mode or what. after a lot of games i became attached to my dynasty team. certain players started off hot and they all were in a certain rythm. it just seems like there is more strategy in a dynasty mode to keep your players happy. but we'll see how this goes. if i dont like it after a while i go back to my dynasty team and keep that and go with it. listening to robert talking about GT4 for the last few days has really put me in the mood to play it. i'm super anxious to play a racing game. i had a bad experience playing mvp on xbox live. i was 6-0, then a guy quit on me when i was up 4-0 or somethign like that. there was one out left and he quit. i never got the win for that game. then the very next game i got smacked with a loss because of an internet connection problem.....on my end. its really put a damper on my xbox live experience, and i'm just not sure if i'm going to play mvp online anymore. i'll play against friends and stuff in an unranked game but besides that i'm not sure. i havent played online since that happened. i know i can beat most guys out there. i havent given up a single run yet in a ranked game. only robert has scored on me so far, so props to him. everybody else struggles just to get runners on base. even though i'm confident i can win most of the games i 'm really discouraged. halo 2 has been great as always. sometimes i get so frustrated that ig get a headache, and second guess myself for ever playing. but then minutes later i'll put up 20 kills. lately i've been doing good individually, i consistently put up mid teens in kills and a few times a night i'll get 20+. a lot of people send me friend invites when i get a lot kills so i have a soome pretty good talent on my friend request. some of the guys are really competitive so i pick and choose who i bring when i play with those guys. people who are just on to have some fun, i dont bring into a game with those guys. i'm reading a book "splinter cell", its based on the game and its a very current book. it talks about conflicts in the middle east in 2004 and how we invaded iraq in 2003. sam fisher has the same point of view on the war as i do, so it makes it even better to read. i never thought i would read a book on my own, but this book is really good and i'm suprisingly enjoying it a lot. in the non gaming world, vegas is less than 3 weeks away and i'm going to be home in a week and a half. vegas i'm going to smoke cigars, drink gamble and have so much fun. i'm also starting to organize myself to get ready to help tyler with pitching and all the other baseball skills too. i figure each time we practice we'll always pitch, every time. but we'll also do defense or hitting or whatever. one day we may pitch and play some homerun derby for fun. next time i'll work on ground balls with him, then fly balls, do something new each time to keep his skills improving overall. i'm super super excited to do this with him, i want him to really get better and have a lot of fun doing it. because theres no point if he hates it. i dont want or expect him to be barry bonds after 2 months, but hes gonna be barry bonds after a long time. i want to do this with him for more than a few months, i want to do it for his baseball career. i'm also going to start training myself again while i help him. i'll go out early and train and lift. depending on how my body responds mainly my arm, i'm going to make a run for it. i'm not going to write or say anything else right now, because i know robert might read this.

Weekly entry 4

i've had mvp for a couple of days now, i think 2. i've played 9 games in my dynasty and explored the mini game section as well. the mini games are really fun and challenging. after each time, your anxious to start it again. the dynasty mode is great, i wish the rosters were properly updated but oh well, what can you do. i'm just enjoying the game for what it is and what i love, america's past time. i'm so pumped for the mlb regular season to start. i want to go to around 1 game per month. i want to see more a's games than giants games because they're my favorite team and i love the energy at the net. but pac bell is awesome and theres a chance i get to see history made each time i'm there. and i love to see history made, especially in baseball. my first online game in mvp was against robert. i think i played well, even though i lost. we both pitched good. i made 3 mistakes with my fielders, i think he may have made one as well. its going to be interesting how the games will pan out in the future. i think between me and robert our skills are really close to each others. so its all about who makes less mistakes, and who can take advantage of the mistakes made. and so far he's got me beat in those 2 categories. i aslo came up with an idea of a 24 hour gaming session. i'm going to wake up at 8am and start a 24 hour session without stopping. i'll have to eat and go to the bathroom and stuff like that but besides that, i want to stay to gaming the whole time. i'll get some food and soda the day before so i'm ready for my long session. i'll play some mvp, GT4, halo 2 and whatever platformer or adventure game i'm playing at the time. hopefully with a 24 hour session i'll really be able to put out games in mvp, races in GT4 and get through a good chunk of whatever other game i'm playing at the time. halo 2 is always great and i can always expect tons of fun, frustration, cursing and everythign else when it comes to that game. hopefully by the time i do this 24 hour session, anthony will have played it a lot and that way we can play together during the day. then at night it will be all clan stuff baby. the other night was the first time we had so many clan people on for so long at the same time. it was awesome. we played with no less than 4 or 5 people for about 5 hours. we had as many as 9 at one point. kaleo wants to do a clan day in march where we all get on and do custom games, ranked games, everytyhing. it should be lots of fun, hopefully we can get it done. if not, maybe we can do a lan thing when i'm home and we're going to have an mvp tourny at kaleo's i think. i'm pumped for it all, i love the excitement, competition, everything. its only 7:30 and i'm stoked about the day. mvp and halo 2 tonight all night. lets just hope i can be alseep around 4. with the way its gone a few times lately....i'm still up at 6am forcing myself to sleep. but its all good, i'm having hella fun while i'm up. thats why i think i can do a 24 hours gaming session.

weekly entry-3

i'm in the middle of windwaker still. i'm having problems sitting down and playing it becuase i'm really anticipating the release of mvp 2005. i'm so eager to play it i'm almost not in the mood to play anything else. i'm not gonna have to wait too much longer because its being released in 4 days. the release date has been moved up to feb 22. i wish this happened more often. i've officially faced my first standbye cheater, but my team still won. i was pretty heated while it was happening but pumped after we won the game. anthony got his new xbox about a week ago so hopefully he'll get on and play some live this weekend. if not he'll be playing mvp soon.

weekly entry

i'm really starting to get into windwaker now. the game is just a lot of fun. i dont know what it is about it, but just really enjoy playing the game. i've read a lot of info on the new xbox and some of the rumors flying around right now. i have a lot of mix opinions about it but none of it really matters because nothing is final yet. i was hoping to finish windwaker and finish everything or nothing before i got mvp, but i'm not sure how long windwaker is going to take, so i might just play and beat windwaker and if i only have a few days til mvp then i'll create a bunch of halo to custom games. i have a list of about 4 or 5 games. i'm axious to try them out. they're very simple but should be fun. anything halo is usually fun. speaking of halo.....i've really been on a roll lately. i get 20+ kills 3,4 times a night. i'm back up to a 12 in team slayer and i'm a 12 for the first time in rumble pit. i'm still suprised that i like halo this much. i also think its just fun playing with people you know. xbox live is really an awesome thing and i think completely changed the way games are played now. i've finished my KOTOR II: The Sith Lords review. its all on paper and it appears to be a little longer than RE4. but that makes sense because its a much larger game. i've made a little notebook thing where i throw down ideas about games and its where i write my rough draft of my reviews. i also have a few drawings in there. but because i cant draw faces, none of them have heads. i like to draw, its fun, a little of a challenge but also relaxing. i just focus on the drawing and thats it. i'm not good at all, but who knows maybe i'll become better with practice, maybe i wont. but its fun, so i'm gonna keep doing it. i'm so pumped about mvp its hard to talk about it. i always have the feeling that its a couple days away, but its not.

Just finished Chronicles of Riddick

This was a pretty good game. i enjoyed it even though it was on the shorter side. i'm probably going to start Legend of zelda: windwaker later on today. i full review will probably come a little later. right now i still have to write reviews for KOTOR II, and Sudeki also. i think this is the first time i'm finishing games too fast to actually keep up with.

KOTOR II: Review

KOTOR II: The Sith Lords takes place a few years after the events which occured in the first game. It also means it takes place thousands of years before any of the movies. This time around, the character is a Jedi who was exiled from the order because of the decisions he made involving war and malachor V. Your character will come into his/her own as the game progresses. The "exile" as your usually referred to as, will learn about his/her past and why he/she was exiled.

Not only will you struggle to find out who you are; your also considered to be the last remaining Jedi in the galaxy, which means the Sith as well as every bounty hunter will hunting you down and confronting you throughout the game. As you journey across familiar planets such as Dantooine and Korriban, and even unfamiliar ones such as Onderon and its moon Dxun, you discover your not the only remaining Jedi still alive. The remaining Jedi have been hiding since your exile on scattered planets strong within the force to mask their powers. Your party will grow and consist of different party members depending on if you choose the light or dark side.

A lot has stayed the same from a year ago with some small but game enhancing changes thrown into the mix. This isnt so bad though right? After all, the original is considered to be one of the best RPG's ever made. KOTOR II wont knock your socks off as far as graphics are concerned. The improvements if any......made to the graphics are minimal. It would have been really nice to see them a little more pollished, but they're still good. The loading actually got a little worse. In some areas where I expected to experience some loading, I didn't, which was nice. But overall, the loading times seemed to take much longer than the first game. It doesnt really kill the flow or experience but it can be a little annoying if you have to travel between two close areas a lot for one small side quest. The game could have been a little more difficult, especially towards the end of the game. Your character and your party develope a lot of skills and powers throughout the game, it seems the final people you fight just cant compete. Hopefully next time they can make a system where your enemies level up with your character.

The interface of KOTOR II is virtually the same as its predecessor. The menus, battle system controls are all the same. So for all of you loyal KOTOR fans, your going to feel right at home the minute you start a game. But the game is user friendly enought and the storyline doesnt lay heavely on the past events for somebody new to the series to enjoy the game.

You'll spend a lot of your time running and traveling around different planets. You'll come across vast desert areas, lush jungles, and a planet crowded by huge sky scrapers. So during this 50+ hour long game, take a minute and enjoy the environments and scenery because they're pretty impressive. Other than exploring, you'll spend a great deal of time talking to different people. In my opinion this is where the game really improves over last years game. Depending on the exiles attributes, different coversation and dialogue options will be available; allowing you to dig deeper into the story and really make you feel like an exile.

KOTOR series really shines when it comes to actions and the consequences for your actions. Every conversation, every choice you make can ultimately sway you to the dark or light side as well as gain or loose influence over your party memebers. You'll constantly be faced with choices, some good, some evil, and some will even be a bit tricky. Helping somebody will not automatically grant you light side points. So becareful what you do and who you talk to, because not every situation has a clear cut answer or way to go about it.

Part of finding out about your past consists of contstructing a new custom lightsaber. After about 15 hours of gamelpay, I finally had all the essential parts needed to make my lightsaber. With 6 slots for upgrades, this weapon can really become a force. Combine that with the 11 new lightsaber forms, 7 of which you'll learn and there wont be a soul in the universe that can stand in your way and live to talk about it. The added force powers are a nice treat and mastering the right ones is a key to succeding in the game. The feats and force powers you wish to learn, greatly depends on how you make your character at the begininning of the game. With different classes, each offereing something new, different and helpful; your sure to be forced with a tough decision on who to pick. Just another reason why you should play this game more than once.

Depending on the skills your character has aquired, he/she can create various items at workbenches or labstations. Anything from computer spikes to wrist mounted rockets up to advanced medpacs can be created. With the proper skills the workbench and labstation can be very useful at times. Not only can you creat items, you can also break them down. Breaking down a few plasma mines can go a long way if you need a medpac before a tough battle.

There were some disappointing glitch problems with the game. Overall the deep and fierce storyline, brilliant battle system and the Star Wars theme will conquer everything. The game will leave you wanting more and pushing you to play it again. The sequel did exactly was its suppose to do when following an already great game with little room for improvement. Keep what worked and change what didnt and thats exactly what was accomplished in this game. Great game!!

Just Finished RE4

I'm going to write weekly entries but certain ocassions call for a special entry.....like when you beat a game as good as RE4. The game is awesome, i'm not writing my review in here because thats going to be added to my previous entry on RE4. The ending was awesome and lived up to the rest of the game. although the boss could have been a little harder, it was still great.

I'm starting Riddick tomorrow, long over due, but i had too many games i had to play first. i figured i need to give riddick a shot before i get my hands on mvp.

Weekly entry #1

I'm taking a page out of Robert's book by committing myself to writing weekly entries twice per week. i figured its also a good way to look back and see what games i was playing at a particular time.

RIght now i'm almost done with RE4. i'm on chapter 5-3 and this game is just awesome. if i didnt have some games i wanted to get off my list (games i've not yet rated or played) i would play this game again....along with KOTOR II and Fable. But i can save those games for another time. I'm also about to start up Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga. Halo 2 has been my daddy just about every night at midnight. Even though its frustrating at times, i cant seem to stop playing it. After slipping down to a level 10...from a 12. i got back to 12 then droped to an 11 for the 6th time. I've been kind of suprised by how well i've been able to pick up and play Halo 2. I pictured myself not doing well at all and maybe not getting into the game as much as I have. I have not completed the single player campaign though, but the online play is awesome.

It hasnt been that long since i've joined with gamespot.com but i cant stop giving props about the site. its really a one stop deal once you get here. you can read, talk, rate and buy games through the site. have access to private forums as well as public ones and all the little features are cool as hell.

Why RE4 is shaping up to be the best game ever!!!!

The beginning of this game will grab you, twist you around, and knock you off your feet like your favorite opening scene of an action packed movie (can you say Gladiator).

Although it has that old Resident Evil style and feel to it, it really utilizes and steps up to standards set by gamers in todays world. The controls and camera angle are slightly different and a little odd at first, and has a small but rather extremely important learning curve. What better way to make you learn the game than putting you right in the middle of a village, infested with crazed farmers driven by an unknown mysterious religion; with only the desire to kill you in the most gruesome way imaginable. Thats exactly what RE4 accomplishes. Overwhelmed with attacking villagers, you quickly become familiar with the controls as your forced to work you way around by running, climbing ladders, jumping around rooftops, flying through windows and working your handgun with precise accuracy. This all seems easy, right? After all, how hard can it be to out run and out think a bunch of crazy farmers with pitchforks and butcher knifes? Well, the computer AI has improved a great deal in this game. While in persuit of Leon Kennedy (main character) your enemy will walk, run, dodge, and attack you in any way and from anywhere they can to try and kill you. They almost always attack you in outnumbering ways or with blood dripping chainsaws hunting for the slab of flesh located right on top of your shoulders. The noise you hear from the chainsaw is enough to make you cringe and heart rate jump from one minute to the next. It only takes one confrontation with a chain blade for you to quickly learn your never safe and you can never stand still. Ready to take a breather from the pack of guys you just pounded and fight somebody one on one. Dont get too excited now, these bosses can be the final boss in any other game and will most likely require a trial and error process to beat them. You'll also come across different sub-bosses or other attacking enemies with different strengths and weapons. It offers a great change in pace to the game because you never know when one these monsters is going to attack. As in the rest of the game, these scenarios will force you to take on a different tactical approach each time. A well placed grenade can buy you just enough time so you can set up and pick enemies off from a distance with precise shots with your Semi Auto Rifle, equiped with a high tech scope. RE also inlcudes fantastic situations where you'll have to work with ashley in order to survive; whether it be pulling levers simultaneously, using her has a decoy or having her drive construction trucks as you fire off shotgun shells into enemies bombarding the bed of your vehicle. Frequent visits from Ada and Krasuer will be a nice treat to the original Resident Evil fans playing RE4. Without giving away the ending or ruining key parts in the story, you wont find out their motives for being here until the end. After beating the final boss, who I'll keep anonymous, the game doesnt end. you'll have to quickly run through obstacles and find your way to a jet ski and smash out of their before being engulfed by flames or a huge wave getting ready to crash down on top of you. Upon completion of the game, two mini games become available to you. You'll also be able to purchase new and powerful weapons on your second round through the game. Who said RE4 didnt have replay value; with the addtion of the new weapons and mini games, you'll be starting a new game faster than you did the first time.

RE4 also includes remarkable cut-scenes. The really are perfectly places throughout the game. Capturing and explaining key elements of the story, makes you feel a true cinematic experience. They never slow down the gameplay, a matter of fact; they're so well done, you'll be dieing to watch them again. Although the cut scenes look like your watching a DVD, dont put down the controller and grab the popcorn just yet. RE4 is non stop action and that includes the cut scenes as well. With no warning you'll be forced to react and make split second decisions by tapping certain buttons forcing Leon to perform awesome maneuvers; dodging enemy attacks. As the game progresses you'll have to perform these actions one after another rather quickly if you want to live.

Have I mentioned the graphics RE4 presents in this game. This is the greatest visual display I've seen on any console game to date. No detail is missed, distinct and unique eye colors, rotten and water logged wood beginning to split, Rusted metal, blood that for once looks real, and being able to identify the individual hairs on a person head are just a few examples of the outstanding job they did when developing this game. Not to mention some of the best use of lighting I've experienced as a gamer. I've never seen a game take place in a dark environment look the way this does. The details never diminish, whether your looking through a scope or looking at an object from the distance; the quality remains. Shooting knees, feet, shoulders, and airborn weapons making a B-line for your head wiill trigger different reactions and expressions from your enemy.

The action buttons which allow you to kickdown ladders and doors, leap through windows or suplex an attacking villager has brought something new to the resident evil community. The manevuers never take away from the value of the game or fighting scenes. In fact it really enhances the overall experience and makes you wonder why its taken so long to perfect this aspect of the game.

The audio work makes you feel like your in the game. If gives you the impression a villager is behind you or a parasite infested insect coming at you from the side. The sounds of the chainsaw will literally make you want to run for you life, and changing your boxers along the way.

With an aray of weapons, weapon upgrades and healing aides made available through hidden traders, it brings in a whole new element to the game. Finding and searching for valuable treasures, jewels, and gold holds more value than before. The strategy involved in what do with the money you collect goes deeper than the surface and simplicity of just buying a weapon. Do you go for the larger carrying case (enabling you to carry more items), upgrade one of your currenty weapons or get the sniper rifle you may only use on a few occasions, but a vital asset in key parts of the game. These are all decisions you'll have to make while encountering traders.

Taking all these aspects of the game, tie them together with a mind gripping storyline and you'll quickly begin to realize why RE4 is the best console game ever made. Resident Evil 4 has completely lived up to the hype everybody heard, and in many ways surpassed it. My candidate for game of the in 2005 has already been selected and in my opinion unmatched. I've never experienced a game that continued to get better from begining to end like this. The ending was as good as the begining and that says a lot. I give resident evil my highest recommendation; A game we will be talking about for years to come.
